Betsy Fridman [Elizabeth Fridman] reportedly signed an anti-Israel statement in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
The profilee's activism occurred during an extended period of global antisemitism that began with the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas.
The January 15, 2024 statement Betsy Fridman signed accused Israel of an “ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza” as well as “apartheid [and] ethnic cleansing,” during its war against Hamas.
Signatories were affiliated with the State University of New York (SUNY), and the statement sought to develop “a SUNY-wide Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Movement…at all 64 SUNY campuses.”
As of February 2026, Betsy Fridman's LinkedIn said she graduated from Stony Brook University (SBU) with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics and economics in May 2025. SBU is part of SUNY and is located in Stony Brook, New York.
As of the same date, Betsy Fridman's LinkedIn also said she was studying for a master's degree in applied data science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), slated to graduate in May 2026. CMU is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
