Violent Hatred of Israelis

Barakat reposted a March 17, 2025 post on X referring to Israel that said: “I don’t want peace with baby killers, I want them to perish. If my people must live in close proximity with these beasts may the distance that divides them be the soil that covers the caskets of the occupiers.”

On October 24, 2023, Barakat tweeted: “i keep seeing those stupid ass kidnapped signs pop up near my work place and i’m ripping that s**t down every time. no assraeli sympathy on my daily commute!!!...”

Barakat was referring to posters meant to raise awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage in Gaza. Hamas kidnapped the civilians, including women, children and the elderly, during a series of terror atrocities and war crimes that left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Hamas executed the terror attacks on October 7, 2023.

Other Hamas war crimes included mass murder, torture, rape and beheadings. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”

Hamas is a designated terrorist organization founded in 1987 that is dedicated to destroying Israel and killing Jews. Since 2001, Hamas has launched thousands of rockets at Israel and on October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped over 200 hostages, including children and the elderly.

On March 1, 2021, Barakat shared an ad for a Royal Caribbean cruise leaving from Israel and tweeted: “wow a cruise full of war criminals 😍…i hope you get the magical experience that the titanic received ✨.”

On January 25, 2021, Barakat tweeted: “i just got an internship and one of the people overseeing it is a whole a** hardcore psychotic isra*li whos entire career is connected to isra*l............. what the f**king f**k Palestinians can’t do jack s**t without their murderers popping out of the shadows.”

Violent Hatred of Zionists

On February 12, 2025, Barakat posted on X: “F**k Israel, f**k Trump, and f**k zionist Arab leaders.”

On July 25, 2020, Barakat responded to a tweet that said: “A thread on how to help Palestinians PRODUCTIVELY ✨: -buy a gun -shoot a Zionist in the leg That's pretty much it thanks for reading ✨❤️.”

Barakat tweeted in response: “i’d aim for the head but yes❤️.”

On August 9, 2020, another Twitter user shared a since-deleted tweet from Barakat that said: “being a zi0nist is a death wish because we’re going to k!ll all of you and free Palestine. All threats to our sovereignty will be eradicated inshallah [God willing]💖I love violent resistance so i hope you’re all ready to die for what you believe in!!!”

Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.

Also on August 9, 2020, a Twitter user shared a since-deleted tweet from Barakat that said: “the reason why zionists need to die is BECAUSE i care about human rights… :/ :/ :/.”

On September 23, 2020, Barakat tweeted about the death of Ginsburg, writing: “…that zionist piece of shit ruth bladder gettysburg who donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to israeli orgs aka literal terrorists. you can’t be a feminist if you aren’t 100% pro-Palestinian. rot in hell💕.”

On November 26, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “i hope all the zionists who go on birthright trips and hook up with one another get stds."

Support for Terrorists

On March 2, 2025, Barakat posted on X: “f**k yuval abraham and god bless october 7th.”

In the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror attack on Israel, numerous terrorists infiltrated into Israel in motorized paragliders. Hamas terrorists descended in gliders on the Nova Music Festival, where they slaughtered over 360 unarmed young men and women. In the wake of the atrocities, images of Hamas militants on paragliders served to symbolize and glorify the deadly attacks.

On April 13, 2024, Barakat tweeted: “disfrutaaaaaaaaaaaa [enjoy]!!!!! Xoxoxo🥰😋😍😘😋🤩🥳✌️💣.”

Barakat’s tweet included an April 13, 2024 tweet that featured a video of people screaming while rockets exploded in the distance. The tweet said: “The screams of the settlers in Eilat from fear.”

Barakat’s tweet, as well as the original tweet and video, were referring to the April 14, 2024, Iranian missile attack on Israel, which took place during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. At the time of the missile attack, it was still April 13, 2024, in the U.S.

On April 14, 2024, Iran fired “Over 350 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, armed drones and rockets” toward Israel in an unprecedented attack. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and several international partners intercepted 99% of the projectiles. The IDF named the operation Iron Shield. The missile attack took place during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists.

Iranian media claimed the attack was in retaliation for an alleged Israeli strike on an Iranian consular building in Damascus, Syria, earlier that month. The Damascus attack killed several members of designated terrorist organization Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including a senior commander and a brigadier general.

Barakat retweeted an April 14, 2024 tweet that said: “The glorious Oct 7th and April 14th.”

On October 7, 2023, Barakat tweeted: “new Palestinian resistance emoji 🪂🪂🪂🪂🪂🪂🪂.”

On September 23, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “...Leila Khaled didn’t kill anyone, but any act of resistance towards your oppressor is justified so if she killed any zionists she’d be completely in the right.”

Leila Khaled is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau. Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated [00:36:07] for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.

Also on September 23, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “Leila Khaled is a real feminist icon…”

On June 19, 2023, Barakat tweeted: “اضرب اضرب تل ابيب [‘Odrob, Odrob, Tel Abib,’ Strike, strike, Tel Aviv].”

“Odrob, Odrob, Tel Abib” [Strike a Blow at Tel Aviv] is an anti-Semitic, Arabic-language song that celebrates rocket attacks against Israel. It was released in 2012 during Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense (OPD) against Hamas. The song was originally accompanied by images of injured Israelis [00:00:15] and rockets ready to be launched [00:00:42, 00:02:01].

Anti-Semitism

On June 22, 2022, Barakat tweeted: “jewish people going to visit occupied palestine and thinking it’s ok because they call it palestine ur a colonizer and zionist and i hate you with all my heart 💛💛💛.”

On May 29, 2021, Barakat tweeted: “By the way: Israel murders Palestinians then takes their organs for Jewish settlers. #SavePalestine #FreePalestine.”

Accusations against Israel stealing or harvesting organs have been revived over the years, echoing old anti-Semitic blood libels against Jews.

On March 11, 2021, Barakat tweeted: “what is zionism if not nazism preserving.”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture. Zionism is a core part of the identity of most Jews.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

Celebrating the Death of Israelis

On February 28, 2023, Barakat tweeted: “he’s ugly and psychotic. so glad i outlived him!” She was responding to a tweet that said: “We are shattered by the loss of Elan Ganeles, a US-Israeli citizen & IDF [Israel Defense Forces] vet murdered today by Palestinian terrorists.”

On February 27, 2023, U.S. citizen Elan Ganeles was shot to death by a terrorist while driving near Jericho.

Barakat also tweeted: “Palestine also outlived him🙏🙏

On October 17, 2021, Barakat tweeted: “on this day 20 years ago the zionist tourism minister [Rehavam Ze’evi] began his tour of hell all thanks to the PFLP [Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine] 🇵🇸❤️🇵🇸❤️.”

In October 2001, Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’evi was shot in the head by PFLP terrorists who assassinated him while he was staying in a hotel in Jerusalem. A few hours later he succumbed to his injuries. Ahmad Sa’adat, the Secretary General of the PFLP, is currently serving time in an Israeli prison for his role in the assassination.

Hatred of White People

On February 7, 2021, Barakat tweeted: “i can’t imagine how embarrassing it is to be white... how does it feel to be the physical manifestation of evil.”

On November 23, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “in high school, people told me they’ve never met anyone who hates white people as much as i do and i’m really proud of that.”

On October 12, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “i had a dream i beat up a white woman and i woke up ✨rejuvenated✨.”

On September 15, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “the fact that men and white people exist is honestly just very triggering to me.”

Hatred of America

On November 6, 2024, Barakat posted on X: “My 2 degrees & 6 years of studying politics can be boiled down by saying this: elections in a fascist country don’t save anyone and are a sham. / Only resistance brings revolution.”

On November 19, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “amerikkka is out here stating that boycotting a genocidal state is antisemitic, admitting that the extermination of Palestinians is essential to the existence of ‘israel’. i don’t think the human brain is even capable of understanding the deep-rooted evils of the us & israel.”

The term “Amerikkka” uses the initials of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) as a way to demonize America as “fascist or racist.”

On October 27, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “waiting for america to self destruct💓”

On September 3, 2020, Barakat tweeted: “amerikkkans wanting to talk about ‘muslim terrorists’ like bro your whole country is a terrorist cell.”

August 8, 2022 - “NYC Stands with Gaza” Rally

Barakat spread [00:04:16] hatred of Zionists during an August 8, 2022 rally organized by WOL and other anti-Israel organizations to protest Israel’s Operation Breaking Dawn (OBD). She appeared [00:04:17] on the left side of the screen wearing a white scarf. Barakat could also be seen [00:03:34] holding a sign that said “Gaza” and chanting: “Shut it down! Shut it down!”

The rally, titled: “NYC Stands with Gaza,” referred to OBD as “the Israeli occupation’s latest genocidal attack on Gaza.”

In August 2022, the terror organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) threatened attacks on Israeli civilians. Israel preemptively launched OBD. Both PIJ’s northern and southern senior commanders in Gaza, Tayseer al-Jabari and Khaled Mansour, were killed in targeted Israeli airstrikes. PIJ responded by launching more than 1,000 rockets toward Israeli cities.

At the rally, Barakat chanted [00:04:16]: “We don’t want no Zionists here! Free, free Palestine! Free, free Palestine!”

Anti-Israel activists chanted [00:02:31] during the protest: “Intifada, intifada! Long live the intifada!” as well as [00:00:35] “It is right to rebel, Israel go to hell!” and [00:00:14] “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.

WOL leader Nerdeen Kiswani also led [00:00:04] protestors in the chant: “Resistance is justified, when people are colonized!”

Kiswani also said [00:02:46]: “If you stand with Israel, you stand with genocide!...with ethnic cleansing!...with murder!...with racism!...[with] death and destruction!”

Kiswani continued [00:05:40]: “Resistance is not terrorism! Palestinians have every single right to defend themselves by any means necessary!”

Participation in the Pro-Hamas Encampment at Columbia

On April 21, 2024, Barakat was featured [00:00:12] in an Instagram video participating in the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia. The encampment was also in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. Columbia is located in New York, New York.

On April 26, 2024, Barakat was featured [slide 5] in an Instagram photo participating in the Columbia encampment on April 21, 2024. She can be seen in the photo wearing a keffiyeh.

The post read: “Shout out to the students and faculty, the supporters stopping by with donations, and the protesters standing outside the gates in solidarity, and as a barrier between the students and the police…#freepalestine…#endtheoccupation #nyc / #columbiauniversity #encampment.”

On April 17, 2024, Columbia students and anti-Israel activists set up a pro-Hamas encampment on campus to protest Israel’s war against Hamas and promote BDS. The encampment was forcibly dismantled and approximately 80 Columbia students were arrested.

new Columbia encampment was erected, during which participants forced their way into the university’s Hamilton Hall, vandalizing [00:00:55] and destroying university property. They barricaded themselves in the building, taking three Columbia custodians hostage. An NYPD raid on the building found knives, gas masks, ropes and literature that read: “...DESTROY zionist business interests everywhere!...DEATH TO AMERICA!...”

WOL

Within Our Lifetime (WOL) is a pro-terror activist group in New York City dedicated to Israel’s destruction within the lifetime of its members.

Acts of violence and physical confrontations with police have frequently occurred at WOL protests and marches. WOL uses harassment campaigns to target pro-Israel organizations or companies that do business with Israel, making it a part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Multiple activists who have either burned Israeli flags or led chants at WOL rallies were later jailed for violent anti-Semitic hate crimes, including Saadah Masoud and Waseem Awawdeh. In Masoud’s case, he received 18 months in jail for an anti-Semitic assault at an April 2022 WOL rally and two other anti-Semitic assaults in 2021.

WOL promotes “resistance” against Israel “by any means necessary,” calls to “Globalize the Intifada,” spreads incitement and idolizes [00:34:06] Palestinian terrorists like Leila Khaled and others at rallies and online events.

WOL was founded by Nerdeen Kiswani and Dan Cione in 2015. Kiswani is a frequent speaker at WOL rallies where she has promoted terrorism against Israelis and called for the death of Zionists. She has also provided support for Masoud and other activists following their arrests.

WOL began as the New York City chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), going by NYC SJP, but changed its name in 2018. The group is not found to be registered in any U.S. state as a nonprofit organization under its official name. Nor is there any listing for WOL under its name on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website for tax-exempt organizations.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
