Ibrahim Al-Nabulsi, a “commander” of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, was known as “the lion of Nablus.” On August 9, 2022, he was killed [p. 5] in a gun battle with Israeli forces. The Brigade is listed as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) by the U.S. State Department.

Also as of May 2023, Quraan’s Instagram Stories Highlights titled “❤️🩹posted a photo of terrorist Nabulsi holding a machine gun.

On August 26, 2022, Quraan posted to Instagram a photo of Nabulsi in a military uniform around other terrorists. [Martyrs bid farewell. There is no remedy for him except patience and continuing on the same path until martyrdom... #Ibrahim_Nabulsi, may God have pity on your soul].”

On April 1, 2022, Quraan posted a video on TikTok of a Hamas rally in which the terror group’s supporters waved the Hamas flag and chanted: “We respond to your call, oh Al-Aqsa, of courage. We are all running out of fever [to protect you]. Make our skulls a ladder to your honor.” Quraan commented on his post: “... #palestine #فلسطين [Palestine] 💚.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state. Such propaganda has led to multiple periods of violence against Israeli civilians.

May 15, 2021 - Promoting Incitement at a WOL Rally

Quraan promoted [00:22:35] incitement as he participated in a May 15, 2021, WOL rally. The protest was titled: “Nakba 73 Defend Palestine!” and took place in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Quraan joined [00:22:35] an anti-Israel chant honoring martyrdom to “redeem” the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.

Quraan joined [00:22:35] the chant, “بروح ودم نفديك يااقصى [With spirit, with blood, we will redeem you, Aqsa]!” The chant can be heard at anti-Israel rallies in America. It was popularized by terrorist leader Yasser Arafat. He wore a black shirt and a headband in the bottom righthand corner of the video.

During the rally, Quraan could be chanted [00:21:28]: “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free!” He wore the same outfit described above.

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.

At the protest, anti-Israel protesters held signs that said [00:06:21]: “Zionists are Nazis” and [00:06:40]: “F**k Israel. All my homies hate Israel. #FreePalestine.” They also chanted [00:06:52]: “Israel is a crime!”

Anti-Israel activists later chanted [00:27:34]: “5,6,7,8 Israel is a terrorist state!”

May 23, 2021 - Honoring a Violent Rioter Charged With a Hate Crime

On May 23, 2021, Quraan featured [00:00:01] in an Instagram video celebrating the temporary release from police custody of Waseem Awawdeh, who had beaten a Jewish pro-Israel activist three days earlier.

Awawdeh pled guilty in April 2023 to attempted assault in the second degree as a hate crime and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree for his role in an anti-Semitic mob attack on Joseph Borgen on May 20, 2021. He will reportedly serve 18 months in jail.

Quraan can be seen wearing a gray shirt and an arm sling in video footage shared on Instagram by WOL activist Saadah Masoud with other anti-Israel activists who participated in a violent May 20-21 counterprotest. Awawdeh was paraded on the shoulders of Mohammed Othman, another counterprotester who was wanted by the New York Police Department (NYPD).

Awawdeh beat Joseph Borgen with a pair of crutches. He was part of a mob of anti-Israel activists who had attacked and reportedly yelled anti-Semitic slurs at Borgen, who was headed to a pro-Israel rally in Times Square on May 20, 2021.

On May 20, 2021, a violent counterprotest against the pro-Israel rally took place in Times Square, New York.

At the rally, anti-Israel activists pushed against a police barricade erected to separate the two sides. They breached the barricade and then the anti-Israel activists marched [00:35:36] toward the pro-Israel side where many verbally assaulted pro-Israel activists. Some of the anti-Israel activists approached the pro-Israel activists and stole their Israeli flags.

The anti-Israel activists then moved back to their side of the barricade where they chanted at the pro-Israel side [00:40:45]: “Nazis! Nazis!”

After demonstrators threw projectiles, police removed the barricade and proceeded to arrest several anti-Israel activists. Police declared that the “assembly is unlawful” and demanded the crowd disperse or be arrested. Despite police warnings, some rioters reportedly continued to throw projectiles at police while others fled the scene.

Police proceeded to arrest several anti-Israel activists while others fled the scene.

Police used bicycles to both disperse the rioters and pursue a number of them. Some rioters overturned police barricades to create obstacles in the street. Others threw garbage bags filled with trash onto the street while others dragged traffic barriers onto the street and overturned fencing.

Also on May 20, 2021, anti-Israel activists from the counterprotest violently attacked and reportedly yelled anti-Semitic slurs at Joseph Borgen, a Jewish man, who was heading to the pro-Israel rally. Police arrested two of the anti-Israel activists, charging them with assault as a hate crime, menacing as a hate crime and aggravated harassment as a hate crime. That same day, other anti-Israel activists also shot fireworks and spat at people.

On May 21, 2021, WOL posted two Instagram posts that portrayed the rioters as victims and offered legal support and advice to anyone arrested.

WOL

Within Our Lifetime (WOL) is a pro-terror activist group in New York City dedicated to Israel’s destruction within the lifetime of its members.

Acts of violence and physical confrontations with police have frequently occurred at WOL protests and marches. WOL uses harassment campaigns to target pro-Israel organizations or companies that do business with Israel, making it a part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Multiple activists who have either burned Israeli flags or led chants at WOL rallies were later jailed for violent anti-Semitic hate crimes, including Saadah Masoud and Waseem Awawdeh. In Masoud’s case, he received 18 months in jail for an anti-Semitic assault at an April 2022 WOL rally and two other anti-Semitic assaults in 2021.

WOL promotes “resistance” against Israel “by any means necessary,” calls to “Globalize the Intifada,” spreads incitement and idolizes [00:34:06] Palestinian terrorists like Leila Khaled and others at rallies and online events.

WOL was founded by Nerdeen Kiswani and Dan Cione in 2015. Kiswani is a frequent speaker at WOL rallies where she has promoted terrorism against Israelis and called for the death of Zionists. She has also provided support for Masoud and other activists following their arrests.

WOL began as the New York City chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), going by NYC SJP, but changed its name in 2018. The group is not found to be registered in any U.S. state as a nonprofit organization under its official name. Nor is there any listing for WOL under its name on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website for tax-exempt organizations.
