On December 13, 2024, in a Friday sermon at ISAK, Taha expressed support for the Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023.
In the sermon, Taha said [00:24:53]: "...To be honest with you, Gaza, they planted the seed of freedom in the heart of not just only the Muslim world, but the whole world. From their steadfasting [sic], from the way they sacrificed, and they de– defeat [sic] that myth. Before that, it was say [sic]: 'Oh, Israel, the fourth strongest army in the world. It is undefeated. They were able to defeat five Mus– Arabic armies in less than six hours.' And yet, in "tufan al-Aqsa" (the Al-Aqsa Flood,) we have seen the miracle, after the miracle, after the miracle..."
Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, also known as Al-Aqsa Storm, is the name Hamas used for their terror operation on October 7, 2023. It is a reference to the allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque, and has been a pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before Israel was founded in 1948.
Taha continued [00:25:39]: "...and...this general commander is saying, we prepared for a while now...and we were not expecting-- we know that the power lies– level is completely different; the balance...And then we heard so many people discouraging us...but he said, when we went for it, yes, it may look like...in ten days...Allah gave us victory...we were not expecting that, he said. We were expecting to pay a huge price. But it is that, dear brothers and sisters, that sometimes weaknesses comes from within, from around us. When we try to despair ourselves [sic] and to try to undermine ourselves and to try to spread cowardness [sic] and fatigue in the community. Otherwise, you prepare, you do your best and then the victory comes with Allah, from Allah...and it did..."
On October 13, 2023, less than a week after Hamas murdered 1,200 Israelis, in another Friday sermon at ISAK, Taha said [00:15:16]: "...with their very humble ability, means of defending themselves, they send a clear message to the whole new generation and the future generations, that this super power, undefeated superpower...is nothing but a lie...the future impact of breaking that...wall of fear that the enemy of Islam has been building in the heart of many, many Muslim nations around Palestine. This was broken and demolished with the power of Allah...within three or four hours the whole and the largest military base was demolished and collapsed in front of those who attacked them..."
In the same October 13, 2023 Friday sermon, Taha said [00:20:45]: "...What the enemy of Islam don't understand...is that...when I defend my land, when I defend my energy, my religion, when I resist occupation... either I will be victorious or I will martyr [sic]. I will die, but I will die for a great cause..."
Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.
On January 2, 2025, in response to Taha's comments, published a "UNIVERSITY STATEMENT CONCERNING LECTURER'S COMMENTS" which stated: "The remarks in a video shared Jan. 2, 2025, with Kent State University are antisemitic, and we condemn them. References to the October 2023 massacre are abhorrent and stand in stark contrast to our institutional commitment to peaceful dialogue, as well as our core values of kindness and respect. Now more than ever...we call for understanding and dialogue as the path to avoiding violence, and destruction. The remarks were not made on a Kent State campus, nor as part of any official event or program."
