Mary K. Coffey signed an anti-Israel letter during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. Israel launched the war after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks.

The May 8, 2024 letter Mary K. Coffey signed accused Israel of “genocide” in its war against Hamas and showed support for the pro-terror campus encampments. It also endorsed elements of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of July 2025, Mary K. Coffey was listed as a professor of art history and an affiliated faculty member in the Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies Program at Dartmouth College (Dartmouth).
As of the same date, Mary K. Coffey was also listed as co-director of Dartmouth's Consortium of Studies in Race, Migration, and Sexuality (RMS).
