Liam Maher participated in the pro-Hamas encampment at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists, launched after the October 7, 2023 terror attacks.

As of January 2025, Liam Maher's LinkedIn profile said he worked as an adjunct professor at Drexel University (Drexel) and was studying for a PhD in art history, criticism and conservation at Temple University (Temple). Penn, Drexel and Temple are all located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

April 27, 2024, was Day 3 of the "Gaza Solidarity Encampment" at Penn, which was held to protest Israel's war against Hamas. The Penn encampment was set up by students from Penn, Temple University and Drexel University. PPC also helped promote the encampment, which was part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
