Lamia Barakat

Lamia Barakat [Lamia P. Barakat] signed an anti-Israel letter during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. Israel launched the war after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks.

Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds more that day. For more information, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.

The May 8, 2024 letter Lamia Barakat signed accused Israel of “genocide” in its war against Hamas and showed support for the pro-terror campus encampments. It also endorsed elements of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of July 2025, Lamia Barakat was listed as a professor of clinical psychology in pediatrics (oncology) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

As of the same date, Lamia Barakat's LinkedIn profile said she had worked as the director of psychosocial services and behavioral oncology research since 2008, as well as a professor of clinical psychology in pediatrics and psychiatry since 2013 at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn).

As of July 2025, Lamia Barakat's LinkedIn also said she had worked as the division chief of integrated psychiatry, psychology, and behavioral heath, and as the director of psychosocial services in oncology at CHOP since 2019.

CHOP and Penn both are located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
