helen DeVinney
helen DeVinney signed an open letter in April 2024 that spread hatred of Israel. The letter claimed Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists was a “genocidal campaign.”
The profilee's activism occurred during an extended period of global antisemitism that began with the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas in Gaza.
The April 26, 2024 letter helen DeVinney signed was in support of the anti-Israel encampment at The George Washington University (GW) in Washington, D.C., where students and outside activists reportedly called for Israel’s destruction. Local media said that 33 protesters were arrested, at least six of whom were GW students. Seven GW students were suspended.
Close to 200 anti-Israel college encampments were set up in North America in the spring of 2024. The first took place at Columbia University. Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities, used anti-Semitic language in their activism, promoted BDS and protested Israel’s war against Hamas.
The GW encampment was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of July 2026, helen DeVinney was listed as an adjunct professor of clinical psychology at GW.
