Heather Houser signed an anti-Israel letter during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. Israel launched the war after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks.

The May 8, 2024 letter Heather Houser signed accused Israel of “genocide” in its war against Hamas and showed support for the pro-terror campus encampments. It also endorsed elements of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

At the time of the signing of the letter, Heather Houser was listed as a professor of American and English literature in the Department of English at the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin).

As of August 2025, Heather Houser's LinkedIn profile said she was a "Full Professor of English Literature" at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.
