Hana Odeh
Hana Odeh is a faculty member who ripped down posters raising awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists in October 2023 and held hostage in Gaza.
The November 2023 incident occurred on the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As of the same date, she was part of the Penn faculty teaching biochemistry and biophysics.
On social media, Odeh has spread incitement and hatred of Israel.
Hamas kidnapped the civilians, including women, children and the elderly, during a series of terror atrocities and war crimes that left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Hamas executed the terror attacks on October 7, 2023. Other war crimes included mass murder, torture, rape and beheadings. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”
Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. It is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, has promoted antisemitism on religious grounds, and has called for a global caliphate and the destruction of the State of Israel.
Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians in mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has kidnapped children, families and the elderly, holding them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.
