Attiya Ahmad

Attiya Ahmad signed an open letter in April 2024 that spread hatred of Israel. The letter claimed Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists was a “genocidal campaign” and labeled the war a “mass killing of Palestinians.”

The profilee's activism occurred during an extended period of global antisemitism that began with the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas.

The April 26, 2024 letter Attiya Ahmad signed was in support of the anti-Israel encampment at The George Washington University (GW) in Washington, D.C., where students and outside activists reportedly called for Israel’s destruction. Local media said that 33 protesters were arrested, at least six of whom were GW students. Seven GW students were suspended.

Nearly 200 anti-Israel college encampments were set up in North America in spring 2024. Activists harassed Jews with antisemitic slurs, expressed their support [00:02:45] for Hamas terrorism and called [00:04:45] for Israel's destruction. They blocked Jews from campus facilities and limited access to those with special wristbands or who said they weren't a Zionist.

The GW encampment was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of May 2026, Attiya Ahmad was listed on the GW website as an associate professor of anthropology and international Affairs at GW.
