Neturei Karta International

Neturei Karta International (NKI) is a fringe and nominally Jewish group that advocates for the annihilation of Israel. Their leaders have worked closely with terrorists.

NKI leaders attended the funeral of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in August 2024 in Qatar. They met with Haniyeh in Gaza in 2009.

NKI members, dressed in ultra-Orthodox Hasidic garb, are regular fixtures at anti-Israel protests, especially in New York City. Anti-Semites use NKI’s presence at such protests to deflect the criticism that calling for Israel’s destruction is anti-Semitic.

Despite its claims to represent “Torah true Jews” in opposition to the State of Israel, NKI is a marginal, violent fringe group on the outskirts of the Orthodox Jewish community and the wider Jewish world, with as few as 1,000 members.

NKI has expressed support for the terror groups Hamas, Hezbollah and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). At least one NKI member has spied for Iran and in 2006, NKI leaders participated in a Holocaust denial conference in Iran.

As a result, NKI leaders have been excommunicated and shunned by numerous Jewish groups, including Israel’s former chief rabbi and other rabbinical courts that reportedly urged Jews worldwide to ban NKI members.
