Yasmeen Ramahi

Overview

Yasmeen Ramahi has expressed supportfor terrorists, spread hatred of Israel and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Ramahi was a leader of the Ohio State University (OSU) BDS initiative, called: “OSU Divest,” in 2016-2017.

Ramahi was affiliated with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at OSU, from 2015-2017, she was also affiliated with American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) in 2018.

As of October 2019, Ramahi’s LinkedIn page said she was the “Communications Coordinator” at the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) from “Sep 2017 - Mar 2018” and the “Outreach Chair” for the Muslim Student Association (MSA), while a student at OSU.

In December 2017, Ramahi was a member of the Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) at OSU’s Facebook group: “JVP OSU Organizing.”

Also as of October 2019, Ramahi’s LinkedIn page said she was a “Media Associate, Rights & Inclusion” at ReThink Media, from “Apr 2019 - Present.”

Ramahi’s LinkedIn page also said she was a student at OSU from “2014 — 2018,” where she studied “Strategy Communications, Public, Advertising, and Applied Communication.”

As of May 2019, Ramahi’s Facebook page said she was a “Communications Intern” from “June 15, 2017 to August 15, 2017,” at the UNRWA USA inWashington, DC.

Supporting Terrorists

On May 27, 2017, Ramahi posted to Facebook an article from the Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network. The article reported on the suspension of a Palestinian prisoners’ hunger strike, saying they had “achieved victory.” Ramahi added: “Ramadan Kareem, God truly works in wonderful ways.”

Terrorist Marwan Barghouti was sentenced to five consecutive life terms for some of his crimes, including his role in the Sbarro Cafe bombing. In 2017, he initiated the hunger strike by Palestinian prisoners known as the “Dignity Strike.” He headed the Palestinian Authority (PA) terrorist Tanzim force and founded the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which carried out many terror attacks against Israeli civilians.

Spreading Hatred of Israel

Ramahi reposted a January 22, 2025 post on X that said: “Free Palestine and f**k Israel.”

On December 29, 2018, Ramahi tweeted: “there’s a difference between hating jews and hating zionists!!!!!!!!!! always hate zionists!!!!!!!!”

On October 22, 2018, Ramahi tweeted: “1. israel is not a thing and 2. 100 years??? from WHERE? y’all stealing time too?” Ramahi’s tweet featured a photo of an Israeli woman with a caption that read: “100 Years of Beauty. NEW EPISODE…”

On August 31, 2018, Ramahi tweeted: “anyways, israel is an apartheid state.”

On July 29, 2018, Ramahi tweeted: “knowing ahed tamimi is out of the israeli prison feels like i can finally breathe. i can’t even begin to imagine the torture she endured but i’m so relieved she’s out of there.”

Ahed Tamimi has a long history of physically attacking Israeli soldiers. Tamimi is the daughter of Bassem Tamimi, who is known for exploiting young children as political props in staged confrontations with Israeli soldiers.

On August 23, 2017, Ramahi referred to classmates who were supporters of Israel as “zios,” on Twitter.

The term "Zio" is a common derogatory reference to Zionists, as well as an often-used anti-Semitic slur among white supremacists.

On June 30, 2017, Ramahi shared a tweet demonizing Israeli actress Gal Gadot: “Good afternoon f**k gal gadot.”

On March 9, 2017, Ramahi posted to Facebook: “your zionism has no place in feminism.”

On March 23, 2016, Ramahi tweeted a series of maps claiming to depict “Palestinian loss of land to Israel.”

The maps claim that lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt and Jordan as autonomous “Palestinian land” were purportedly stolen by Israel. In February 2016, publisher McGraw-Hill Education recalled copies of a college textbook containing the fraudulent maps. In October 2015, American cable news network MSNBC apologized for airing a similar series of maps and retracted them.

On February 15, 2016, Ramahi tweeted: “it's war crime after war crime and nobody is doing something to stop israel. #FreePalestine.”

Supporting BDS

On February 10, 2019, Ramahi tweeted: “lorde is a true unproblematic queen ugh a true bds musical genius 😤.”

New Zealand singer Lorde canceled her concert in Tel Aviv following protests by BDS activists.

Ramahi indicated on Facebook that she “went” to an event organized by AMP, titled: “Palestine Advocacy Day and Training 2018,” on March 16, 2018.

The event’s Facebook description said the event was open to those who support “the Call for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions.”

Throughout 2016 and 2017, Ramahi promoted divestment efforts at OSU on Facebook andTwitter. She also publicized OSU Divest events

OSU Divest is a coalition “of Ohio State students, faculty, and staff” urging the university to divest funds from companies it claims have “unethical practices,” including companies it claims “provide security systems...where Palestinians are regularly subjected to torture” and supply equipment “to illegally destroy Palestinian homes.”

On July 16, 2017, Ramahi shared OSU Divest’s “get involved” sign-up sheet to Facebook.

On March 6, 2017, Ramahi was featured in an OSU Divest photo campaign on Twitter, promoting OSU Divest’s 2017 divestment resolution.

That same day, Ramahi tweeted a short film of herself and fellow BDS activist Hoda Khamis, promoting OSU Divest. Ramahi wrote in her tweet: “@hoda_khamis and I want you to vote #yestodivest #OSUDivest.”

The divestment bill was defeated in March 2017.

On February 26, 2017, Ramahi wrote on Facebook: “#OSUDivest calls for the divestment from companies complicit in the violations of human rights. Show your support, vote YES on Issue 2, vote YES to divest.”

The post featured a photo of Ramahi with a caption that read: “Vote yes on Issue 2 #OSUDivest BUCKEYES FOR HUMAN RIGHTS.”

On October 8, 2016, Ramahi wrote on Facebook: “yo friends don't forget to come through and learn more about what divest means and how it effects [sic] you!!!!!!!”

The post linked to a Facebook page for an event organized by OSU Divest. The October 10, 2016 event was titled: “Divestment 101.”

On September 6, 2016, Ramahi tweeted: “yo if ur interested in helping out with OSUDivest, or just want to learn more about it, DM me!!”

On March 23, 2016, Ramahi tweeted that she would be speaking at “#OSU Divest.”

Following a vote on divestment, Ramahi tweeted: “as promised, tears were delivered because #OSUDivest failed to pass you've failed us @usgosu.”

SJP Activity

Ramahi was listed on Facebook as having “went” to an SJP at OSU organized event, titled: “CALL to Action: Rally Against US Embassy Relocation To Jerusalem,” on December 8, 2017.

On April 20, 2017, SJP at OSU shared a group photo on Facebook featuring Ramahi.

Ramahi indicated on Facebook that she “went” to an SJP at OSU organized event, titled: “Palestine Awareness Week at The Ohio State University 2016,” on April 11, 2016.

Palestine Awareness Week (PAW) is a re-branding for American audiences of Israel Apartheid Week (IAW), originally presented as “an international series of events that seek to raise awareness of Israel’s settler-colonial project and apartheid system over the Palestinian people” and build support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Ramahi indicated on Facebook that she “went” to an SJP at OSU organized event, titled: “Israeli Violations of International Law with Professor John Quigley.”

Ramahi indicated on Facebook, during the “Knife Intifada,” that she “went” to an SJP at OSU organized event, titled: “IAW Day 1: Vigil for Palestinian Victims of Recent Terror Attacks,” on November 17, 2015.

The fall of 2015 saw an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders and fueled by Palestinian armed groups as well as social media. The wave of stabbings — known as the “Knife Intifada” — saw young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians.

The attacks were sparked and fueled by Palestinian leaders propagating the libel that Israel intended to desecrate the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The event’s Facebook description said: “Join us in commemorating the innocent lives lost at the hands of Israeli aggression and settler violence in the occuppied [sic] territories of Palestine.” The event was organized as part of Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW).

SJP OSU

Students for Justice in Palestine at OSU (SJP OSU) was formerly known as the Committee for Justice in Palestine (CJP), until 2016.

SJP OSU - Spreading Hatred of Israel 2014-2016

On April 2, 2016, SJP OSU promoted on Facebook an event the group hosted as part of Birzeit University’s “Right to Education” tour.

The Right to Education Tour brings Birzeit University students to U.S. campuses, where they claim that Israel is obstructing the rights of Palestinians to higher education. This claim mischaracterizes the sweeps Israeli security forces have made to shut down terror cells operating on the Birzeit campus, including cells linked to Hamas

On November 6, 2015, SJP OSU posted an article on Facebook that claimed Israel harvested organs from the bodies of killed Palestinians. The accusation was made by the chief Palestinian delegate at the United Nations, Riyad Mansour. Israel’s then-U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon wrote to the U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon demanding that he condemn the accusation.

On October 2, 2014, SJP OSU posted a graphic on Facebook that read: “#JSIL.”

The hashtag “#JSIL” means “Jewish State in the Levant” and is used as a way of comparing Israel to the Islamic State (ISIS), also known as the Islamic State in the Levant (ISIL).

SJP OSU’s Facebook post linked to an Al Jazeera social media stream post that spread an effort by Twitter users “to rebrand Israel as [Islamic State and the Levant] ISIL, renaming it ‘The Jewish State of Israel in the Levant.’”

On September 26, 2014, SJP OSU posted on Facebook a graphic featuring a series of misleading maps that presented lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt and Jordan as autonomous “Palestinian land,” purportedly stolen by Israel. SJP OSU also featured these maps as part of their mock “apartheid wall,” during Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) .

Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is presented as “an international series of events that seek to raise awareness of…Israel’s settler-colonial project and apartheid system over the Palestinian people” and build support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

SJP OSU - Demonizing Trips to Israel 2016

On December 1, 2016, SJP OSU hosted an event objecting to a trip to Israel geared towards student government leaders, sponsored by an Israel advocacy group.

Yousef Yacoub, SJP OSU’s then-treasurer, wrote on Facebook that he would track student “senators, directors, and members of senior staff,” who indicated interest in the trip.

On November 18, 2016, Yacoub wrote on Facebook: “I see you, and I promise you that if you go on this trip without hearing our voices, I will take action. At the first General Assembly of next semester, I will bring forth a resolution for all of your impeachments.”

On April 4, 2016, SJP OSU shared to Facebook a quote from an article published anonymously a month earlier in the Tufts University student newspaper, that demonized Birthright-Israel.

Birthright Israel is a heritage trip to Israel for Jewish young adults from across the world.

The article claimed that Birthright was “violent” and that “To make Birthright fun and safe means eradicating an Arab populace.” The article also said that “Birthright is the erasure of our right to our homeland, and it promises our homeland to one in four students at this university.”

On February 22, 2016, SJP OSU promoted a poster on Facebook that condemned a free trip to Israel awarded to Oscar nominees. The poster suggested that laws distinguishing between Israeli citizens and foreign nationals were “a defining feature of an apartheid state” and said: “Free Trip To Israel At The Expense of Palestinians” and “#SkiptheTrip, Don’t endorse Israel Apartheid.”

SJP OSU - Supporting an Anti-Israel Agitator 2017

On December 25, 2017, SJP OSU posted to Facebook: “#FreeAhedTamimi” and attached an article from the anti-Israel publication Mondoweiss, which claimed: “Israel has transferred Ahed Tamimi to three different detention facilities in the last five days even though she has not yet been charged with a crime.”

Ahed Tamimi has a long history of physically attacking Israeli soldiers. Tamimi is the daughter of Bassem Tamimi, who is known for exploiting young children as political props in staged confrontations with Israeli soldiers.

On December 24, 2017, SJP OSU tweeted: “#FreeAhedTamimi.”

OSU Divest 2015-2017

OSU Divest was established in January 2015: “in response to the ever-worsening human rights crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories.”

The group claimed that by “advocating for divestment from corporations, we are not condemning or attacking a country, a community, or a people,” and “our initiative does not support any particular political stance.”

In March 2015, OSU Divest introduced a BDS resolution at OSU’s University Student Government (USG). The divestment resolution was voted down.

On March 23, 2016, OSU Divest worked closely with SJP OSU board members to present another divestment resolution to the USG.

During the pre-vote discussion of the 2016 bill, which was published by secretary of the USG, OSU Divest activists accused Israel of “apartheid.” One claimed that United States presidential election candidates “all paraded to AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee] to pledge allegiance to a foreign government.”

The resolution failed in a secret ballot by 21-9 votes, with 15 abstentions.

The stated mission of AIPAC is to “strengthen, protect and promote the U.S.-Israel relationship in ways that enhance the security of the United States and Israel.”

In February 2017, OSU Divest pushed their 2016 divestment resolution again, this time promoted by the Muslim Students Association (MSA) at OSU, onto USG’s election ballot. The divestment bill targeted companies providing technology used for security purposes in Israel. The bill claimed the companies were “complicit in human rights abuses.”

OSU Divest received the 1,895 signatures required for their 2017 divestment initiative to be placed on the USG ballot as a referendum. The 2017 divestment bill was ultimately defeated

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Student Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.

AMP

American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) was founded by UC Berkeley Professor Hatem Bazian as a vehicle to generate mainstream support in the United States for the Palestinian national cause.

On its website, the organization lists Bazian as the chairman of its national board and describes itself as “a national education and grassroots-based organization, dedicated to educating the American public about Palestine and its rich cultural, historical and religious heritage.”

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has accused AMP of promoting “extreme anti-Israel views and has at times provided a platform for anti-Semitism under the guise of educating Americans” about Palestinians. The ADL further stated that AMP is directly involved in campus-based anti-Israel activity through Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

Prior to founding the AMP in 2006, Dr. Bazian created SJP together with fellow UC Berkeley Professor Snehal Shingavi in 2001. The close working relationship between AMP and SJP has been documented several times over the years by several organizations, including NGO Monitor and StandWithUs

In addition to providing financial, public relations and legal assistance to SJP, AMP has also been accused of having connections to Hamas. The AMP national board includes former members of both the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP) and Holy Land Foundation (HLF), both of which were found liable for aiding and abetting Hamas. The IAP was founded by Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook, a senior member of Hamas.

CAIR

CAIR describes itself as a “grassroots civil rights and advocacy group” and “America's largest Muslim civil liberties organization, with regional offices nationwide.” Its official mission is “enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.”

CAIR reportedly has “significant ties” to the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as Hamas. A number of former CAIR employees have been convicted on fraud and terrorism-related charges that resulted monetary fines, jail terms and, sometimes, deportation.

CAIR was founded in 1994 and opened its first office in Washington, DC, with the help of a $5,000 donation from the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), a charity founded by Mousa Abu Marzook.

Marzook, who was listed as a "Specially Designated Terrorist" by the U.S. Treasury Department in 1995, is reportedly a senior member of Hamas.

In May 2007, CAIR was listed as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in a U.S.-filed action against the HLF for providing funds to Hamas.

CAIR was also listed as a terrorist entity by the United Arab Emirates, in 2014.

MSA

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) was  established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with the goal of "spreading Islam as students in North America." A 2004 FBI investigation uncovered an internal Muslim Brotherhood document in which a brotherhood leader identified the MSA as "one of our organizations."

The MSA reportedly has “nearly 600 chapters” located in the United States and Canada, and is “the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America,” boasting conferences, special events, publications, websites and other activities.

The organization includes a number of previous chapter presidents with explicit links to terrorist groups. Included are al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (Colorado State University), Somali al-Shabaab militant leader Omar Shafik Hammami (University of South Alabama) and Pakistani Taliban recruiter Ramy Zamzam of the MSA's Washington, D.C. council.

JVP

JVP was founded in Berkeley, California in 1996, as an activist group with an emphasis on the “Jewish tradition” of peace, social justice and human rights. The organization is currently led by Rebecca Vilkomerson and its board members include Israel critics Naomi Klein, Judith Butler, Noam Chomsky and Tony Kushner.

JVP, which generally employs civil disobedience tactics to disrupt pro-Israel speakers and events, consists of American Jews and non-Jewish “allies” highly critical of Israeli policies. A staunch supporter of the BDS movement, JVP claims to aim its campaigns at companies that either support the Israeli military (Hewlett-Packard) or are active in the West Bank (SodaStream).

Although several Jewish groups critical of Israeli policies, like J Street and Partners for a Progressive Israel, make efforts to operate within the mainstream American Jewish community, JVP functions outside. The group is often criticized for serving as a tokenized Jewish voice for the pro-Palestinian camp and is widely regarded as the BDS movement’s “Jewish wing.”

JVP denies the notion of “Jewish peoplehood” and has even gone so far as to refer to its own Ashkenazi (Jews who spent the Diaspora in European countries) leadership as “white supremacy inside of JVP.”

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has accused JVP of being “the largest and most influential Jewish anti-Zionist group in the United States,” and said the group “exploits Jewish culture and rituals to reassure its own supporters that opposition to Israel not only does not contradict, but is actually consistent with, Jewish values.”

The ADL also claimed that “JVP consistently co-sponsors rallies to oppose Israeli military policy that are marked by signs and slogans  comparing Israel to Nazi Germany, demonizing Jews and voicing support for groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.”

According to the ADL website, JVP “uses its Jewish identity to shield the anti-Israel movement from allegations of anti-Semitism and provide it with a greater degree of legitimacy and credibility.”
