Tarek Bazrouk
Tarek Bazrouk is a self-proclaimed "Jew-hater" who acted as a Hamas operative in America. He was arrested for acts of violence against Jews and charged with "hate crimes" in May 2025.
Bazrouk has threatened violence, harassed Israel supporters and expressed violent hatred of Jews, Israel supporters and Israel. He has also shown support for terrorists, promoted incitement and engaged in anti-Israel activism.
Bazrouk has been an activist with the pro-terror group Within Our Lifetime (WOL) since at least 2021.
For more information on WOL's incitement to violence against Jews, see Canary Mission's campaign titled: “Within Our Lifetime: The NYC Org Inciting Its Activists To Violence.”
Bazrouk has led anti-Israel chants with Al-Awda and participated in protests organized by Decolonize This Place, both pro-terror and anti-American groups.
In 2021, Bazrouk was a member of the Red Lions, an anti-Israel group led by Saadah Masoud, a violent anti-Israel agitator.
As of May 2025, Bazrouk reportedly worked at Exotic Clouds, a smoke shop in Hartford, Connecticut.
In May 2022, Bazrouk was listed as slated to study marketing management and sales at the New York City College of Technology (City Tech), part of City University of New York (CUNY).
As of May 2025, Bazrouk was located in New York, New York.
As of June 2025, Bazrouk was reportedly 20 years old.
On June 4, 2025, during Israel's war against Hamas terrorists, The New York Post (NYP) published an article about Tarek Bazrouk, titled: "Columbia protester and self-proclaimed ‘Jew-hater’ had direct link to Hamas’ terror cell, disturbing phone records reveal: DOJ."
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.
For more information, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.
According to allegations in federal documents, Bazrouk had a direct link to Hamas’ military wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
Bazrouk was reportedly a member of a "chat group that received regular updates from Abu Obeida," the official spokesman for the al-Qassam Brigades.
Bazrouk also reportedly told a friend he was “mad happy” to have learned that "certain of his family members overseas are part of Hamas," according to information found on his cell phone.
Bazrouk’s cell phone was also filled "with pro-Hamas and pro-Hizballah propaganda" and a picture of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the architect of the October 7, 2023, attacks.
Hezbollah has long been known as an anti-Semitic and genocidal terror organization dedicated to destroying Israel.
Yahya (Yehiya) Sinwar masterminded the October 7, 2023 terror attacks on Israel and had been a Hamas leader since the 1980s. Sinwar was nicknamed the “Butcher of Khan Younis” after he admitted to killing 12 suspected Palestinian “collaborators,” and in 1989 was sentenced to four life terms in Israeli prison for crimes including the killing of two Israeli soldiers.
In 2011, Sinwar was released by Israel to Gaza following the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal and resumed his leadership role in Hamas. On October 17, 2024, the Israel Defense Forces eliminated Sinwar in Gaza.
Bazrouk's phone had a photo of an armed Hamas terrorist in a tunnel and text that read: “By God I would not trade the Al Q4ssam Brigades for the world and everything in it. May God be pleased with them and allow them to break the wicked enemy through him. The men who protected our honor while we watched from thousands of miles away. "
On May 7, 2025, Bazrouk was charged with "three counts of committing hate crimes in connection with his repeated assaults of Jewish victims in New York City between 2024 and 2025."
At the time of Bazrouk's May 2025 arrest, federal agents reportedly searched his home and "found a replica firearm, spent shell casings from a real gun, brass knuckles, and several weapons including four knives, including a switchblade which was in the pocket of one of his jackets and a hunting knife, per court documents."
On January 6, 2025, while wearing a keffiyeh, Bazrouk reportedly punched a Jewish student carrying an Israeli flag in the face with a closed fist at a protest near Union Square.
On December 9, 2024, Bazrouk reportedly punched a Jewish student in the face, while allegedly "ranting about Hitler" and "calling him Nazi" after stealing [slide 7] an Israeli flag from the victim's brother.
In December 2024, Tarek Bazrouk was arrested outside the campus of Columbia University (Columbia) for repeated assaults on Jewish victims.
On April 15, 2024, while wearing a Hamas headband, Bazrouk reportedly kicked "a Jewish college student in the stomach" and yelled "Allahu Akhbar [God is the greatest]" during a pro-Israel rally outside the New York Stock Exchange.
On April 19, 2024, following his assault of a Jewish college student four days earlier, Tarek Bazrouk reportedly wrote in a text message that if he "ever see(s)" a Jewish person, he is going to "boom boom them."
Also in April 2024, while participating in Columbia's pro-Hamas encampment protests, Tarek Bazrouk reportedly texted a friend and said he lit a flare and "considered lighting someone on fire," but there were “too many” people around for him, otherwise he “would’ve hurted [sic] them.”
There were over 200 pro-Hamas and anti-Israel college encampments set up in North America, and over 20 more globally, in the spring of 2024. The first began on April 17, 2024, at Columbia University. The encampments were unofficially known as the “student intifada,” borrowing a term associated with terrorist violence.
Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities and shouted anti-Semitic slogans. They occupied campus grounds, in many cases illegally, caused property damage, violently took over buildings, celebrated terrorism and promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Activists set up encampments to oppose Israel’s right to wage war against the Hamas terror group following October 7, 2023, when Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 people, including 32 American and 8 Canadian citizens. Hamas also kidnapped 252 people, including 11 Americans and the bodies of 2 murdered Canadians.
On December 29, 2021, Tarek Bazrouk shared on Instagram a video, in which he harassed Israel supporters outside a December 9, 2021, "Friends of the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]" gala event. The action was organized by the anti-Israel group Al-Awda.
Al-Awda has co-organized major anti-Israel rallies, where speakers have incited [00:14:30] hatred toward Jews. The organization works to demonize Israel. Al-Awda founder, Abbas Hamideh, is known for spreading anti-Semitism and supporting terror.
Outside the event venue, Bazrouk asked [00:00:01] Israel supporters while chasing them whether they supported the "genocide happening in Palestine" or donated to "support the killings of innocent Palestinians."
Bazrouk also equated [00:01:00] donating to the Friends of IDF with "support [for] terrorism."
On December 3, 2021, Bazrouk shared [slide 2] on Instagram a video outside a Friends of the IDF gala event, in which he asked [00:00:01] a man: "How much money did you fund towards the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians?"
According to court documents, included on Tarek Bazrouk's cell phone were text messages in which he allegedly identified himself as a “Jew hater,” called Jews “worthless,” asked “Allah [God]” to “get us rid of [Jews],” called an acquaintance a “F**king Jew,” and told a friend to "slap that b**ch" in reference to a "woman with an Israeli sticker on her laptop."
On June 9, 2022, Bazrouk wrote on Instagram: "...Got a picture of a Zionist and a name send it and help us expose every single Zionist#freepalestine...#whitesupremacyisterrorism#spreadtheword."

On December 29, 2021, Bazrouk wrote on X, referring to a Jewish man who was assaulted by anti-Israel agitator Suleiman Othman for wearing an Israeli military sweatshirt: "You can’t say you were attacked because you’re Jewish when you had a hoodie that says 'Israel defense force' which means you support terrorism."
Bazrouk also wrote: "That’s like walking around with a nazi hoodie or kkk shirt around the neighborhood. #zionismisnotjudaism #apartheid #WhiteSupremacy."
On November 2, 2021, Tarek Bazrouk shared on Instagram a video of an Israeli flag being set on fire and wrote: "...The Flag In The Video Is A Flag Off Terrorism...Free Palestine..."
On August 30, 2021, Bazrouk shared on Instagram a video of himself stomping on an Israeli flag, dragging it on the floor, cleaning a toilet seat with it and then throwing it in the trash.
The video was captioned with the words: "FREE PALESTINE
."
On December 4, 2021, Tarek Bazrouk shared on Instagram a video of a man stabbing a Jewish civilian and later being killed by Israeli security forces.
Bazrouk wrote in his post: "A Palestinian man was killed in cold blood by Israeli occupation forces near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. For allegedly stabbing a Israeli settler."
“Israeli Occupation Forces,” or “IOF,” is a derogatory name for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) used by anti-Israel activists to demonize Israel’s army.
In the same post, Bazrouk also wrote: "You wanna know why we resist? We would rather die on our feet then live under settler colonialism...Israeli settlers and Zionists are colonizers they are not innocent...Long live all resistance fighters and long live all freedom fighters !..."
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.
Stop Antisemitism commented on Bazrouk's post: "The video CLEARLY shows he stabs an innocent man walking behind him..." to which Bazrouk replied: "...Every Israeli and Zionist on that land is a colonizer and according to human rights restiance [resistance] is justified when your land occupied..."
On September 10, 2021, Bazrouk wrote on Instagram, referring to Palestinian terrorists who had escaped from an Israeli prison: "They might have arrested 4 of the Palestinian hero's who escaped the prison of occupation..."
Bazrouk's post also read: "Where [We're] with the hero's in the prisons of occupation until there's a free Palestine. They made history that Israel will never forget and it will be a lesson to them...This is hope right here it just gave me a lot of hope and from now on I'm fighting and resisting the occupation a million times more..."
On September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the maximum-security Gilboa Prison in Israel. The escaped prisoners were convicted members of the terror organizations Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, who were jailed for their involvement in attacks carried out during the second intifada. All were recaptured by September 19, 2021, by Israeli authorities.
On April 16, 2022, Tarek Bazrouk led chants that promoted incitement and hatred of Israel during a protest organized by the anti-Israel group Al-Awda.
During the protest, Bazrouk led [00:00:09] the chant: "From New York to Gaza! Globalize the intifada!" and [00:00:07]: "Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Israel has got to go!"
The call to globalize the intifada has been described as “the language of incitement.”
On April 15, 2022, Tarek Bazrouk wrote on Instagram: "Free Palestine & Hands Off Al Aqsa And All Of Palestine NOW!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH IT’S TIME TO TAKEOVER THE STREETS IT’S TIME TO DEFEND ALL OF PALESTINE NO MATTER THE COST! FREE PALESTINE..."
Bazrouk's post included a video of a Palestinian activist among pro-Israel protesters in New York City.
On August 7, 2021, Bazrouk shared on Instagram a video, in which he spoke defending the idea of "globalizing the intifada."
During the video, Bazrouk said [00:00:14]: "Intifada means rebelling against the apartheid state called Israel" and [00:00:37]: "When someone says 'globalize the intifada' it means resisting all over the world...and paying respect to every shahid [martyr] that was killed by Israel."
The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.
For more information behind the idea to "Globalize the Intifada," check Canary Mission's campaign titled: "'Globalize the Intifada': Mapping Project 2023.”
On September 15, 2021, Bazrouk shared on Instagram a video of a Jewish man wearing religious garments who was running from a crowd of people while being attacked in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Bazrouk wrote in his post: "...These Israeli Settlers Think They Can Strom Al Aqsa Mosque And We Still Stay Silent That’s Absolutely Wrong We Will Fightback And Resist...Free Palestine And Free All The Palestinian Hero’s In The Prison Of Occupation..."
Palestinians and anti-Israel activists have historically described visits by Jews to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem as “incursions” during which Jews purportedly “storm” the Temple Mount and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Palestinians have also frequently used the mosque to stockpile stone slabs, fireworks and rocks, with which they attack Israeli security officers and non-Muslim visitors to the Temple Mount.

On May 20, 2021, during Israel's "Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW)," Bazrouk participated [00:56:03] in a violent WOL-organized counterprotest against a pro-Israel rally in Times Square, New York.
In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.
