Sonali Chigurupati
Sonali Chigurupati [Sonali Jaya Chigurupati] ripped down a memorial dedicated to the Bibas family, who were murdered by Hamas terrorists. She has also expressed support for Hamas online.
Chigurupati's anti-Israel activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, called “Swords of Iron.” Israel launched the war after a series of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The terror attacks left approximately 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded.
In March 2024, Chigurupati filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of New York on behalf of the anti-Israel campus groups Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) against Columbia University (Columbia).
Both SJP and JVP have expressed support for Hamas terrorism after the group's October 7, 2023 attacks.
In the lawsuit, Chigurupati confirmed she was a "former employee of the Columbia College Fund ('CC Fund'), which is one of the main funds responsible for the College’s fundraising efforts" and that she began her "full-time employment as a development associate" at CC Fund in December 2021 and "voluntarily resigned" on October 31, 2023.
As of May 2021, Chigurupati was listed online as studying for a bachelor's degree in operations and information management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst), slated to graduated in 2021.
As of February 2025, Chigurupati's since-deleted LinkedIn profile said [slide 7] she was located in the New York City Metropolitan Area.
On February 26, 2025, Chigurupati appeared in a video posted on X, while a woman who filmed her said, referring to a balloon memorial for the Bibas family murdered by Hamas terrorists [00:00:01]: "This is the people that live in our town that decide to take our balloons down...She is all for Palestine."
Shiri Bibas and her two young children, Kfir and Ariel, were kidnapped from the safe room of their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023, and taken hostage to Gaza by armed terrorists. Forensic examinations later revealed that terrorists murdered the children “with their bare hands.” In February 2025, after more than 500 days in captivity, their bodies were returned to Israel.
Following this incident, Jewish communities around the world gathered on February 25, 2025, and held ceremonies to honor the murdered family the day before their funeral by releasing orange balloons in reference to the children's orange hair.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.

Chigurupati appeared in the video holding a balloon. She replied [00:00:11] to the woman, pointing to her own shirt: "Yeah! University of Palestine - Jerusalem!"
Chigurupati also told [00:00:30] the woman filming her: "Honestly, you're on the wrong, honey!...I have 'Intifada'" tatted [tattooed] on my arm!"
Chigurupati then displayed a tattoo on her left arm that read in Arabic: "Intifada," and said [00:00:30]: "It's the new norm! You're on the wrong side of history! And everyone knows it!"
The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.
As of March 2025, during Israel's war against Hamas terrorists, Chigurupati's Instagram bio read: "🔻long live the resistance🔻..."
The inverted red triangle is a symbol showing support for Hamas and Palestinian terrorism. It was first used by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror attacks to signify an Israeli target.
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

SJP is the leading student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses. The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian, who has spread anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campus campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks and pushing the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, and SJP chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for terrorists.
