June 11, 2021 - Burning an Israeli flag at WOL Rally

Mahmood ripped [photo 2] an Israeli flag, burned [00:01:24] the remains of the flag and demonized [00:00:10] Israel as she participated in a June 11, 2021, Strike MoMA [Museum of Modern Art] march and rally.

The rally was titled: “Globalize the Intifada. Defend Palestine. Confront Zionism.” A June 9, 2021 WOL Instagram post, promoting the rally said: “We are starting at the MoMa as their board of directors are full of Zionists who fund the ethnic cleansing of Palestine."

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

At the rally, Mahmood tore [photo 2] apart an Israeli flag alongside Red Lions leader Saadah Masoud outside of Rockefeller Center. Both of them were dressed in black Red Lions t-shirts and she chanted [00:00:51]: “Allahu Akhbar [God is the greatest]!”

Mahmood later sprayed [00:00:04] a flammable liquid onto the flaming remains of an Israeli flag on the ground as fellow demonstrators shouted [00:00:03] “Allahu Akhbar [God is the greatest]!”

WOL leader Nerdeen Kiswani then said [00:00:13] to the crowd: “You know how amazing it is, burning the Zionist flag, that is responsible, that symbolizes the ethnic cleansing and the genocide of Palestinians?”

Kiswani went on to say [00:00:37]: “We burning that s**t in the heart of the belly of the Beast, in the heart of New York City, in front of Rockefeller, in front of the most notorious Zionists in this country, that are right here in our city.”

Kiswani continued [00:00:49]: “We marched today, we took over the streets and we visited multiple Zionist settler foundations. Multiple. We let them know we know where they’re at. We know where they work. We’re gonna find out more about where they’re at too. And we’re gonna go after them.”

Mahmood then continued setting [00:01:24] the remains of an Israeli flag on fire on the pavement.

Fellow anti-Israel agitator Amin Husain then told the crowd [00:01:23]: “Palestine is not only over there, it’s over here. And we’re tired of just marching at the embassy. We will go to where these people feel they are comfortable.”

Husain also told [00:03:00] the crowd: “You took Fifth Avenue. You took Sixth Avenue. You took Rockefeller Center. You went to the NYPD Foundation that is actually funded by people on the board at MoMA and you told them we’re not gonna use f**king words. We will go wherever you are comfortable.”

In April 2021, Decolonize This Place, a “decolonial” action-oriented movement, and WOL were part of a coalition of New York City anti-American groups called the International Imagination of Anti-National Anti-Imperialist Feelings (IIAAF).

That month, IIAAF launched the Strike MoMA campaign. Strike MoMA targeted individual members of the MoMA board of trustees for various reasons, including their pro-Israel activism. Strike MoMA also conducted10 weeks of protests outside of MoMA.” The protests were held weekly from April 9 to June 11 and were billed [pp. 6-7] as “Phase 1” of the campaign.

Strike MoMA personally targeted Jewish MoMA Board of Trustees members specifically for their Israel activism or business ties to Israel, independent of any other issues. The list included cosmetics executive Ronald Lauder for being president of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) and hedge fund manager Daniel Och for being on the board of Birthright Israel, a heritage trip to Israel for Jewish young adults from across the world.

June 15, 2021 - Promoting Incitement at WOL Rally

Mahmood chanted [00:10:15] a slogan promoting incitement and also told a reporter [00:04:15] that Israel kills children “every day” as she participated in a WOL rally. Mahmood appeared in a video of the event [00:10:16] on the right side of the screen, wearing a dark long-sleeved t-shirt and gold metallic-rimmed eyeglass, with her hair dyed red.

The protest was titled: “Emergency Rally to Defend Palestine” and was held outside the Israeli consulate in Manhattan.

A WOL post on Instagram claimed: “Zionist settlers are planning on INVADING Al-Aqsa tomorrow” and urged supporters to “Stand with the call from Palestine against the zionist invasion on Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem.”

The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state. Such propaganda has led to multiple periods of violence against Israeli civilians.

At the rally, Mahmood chanted [00:10:15]: “There is only one solution: Intifada Revolution!”

The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.

During an interview at the rally, Mahmood told a reporter [00:04:15]: “We are here to support Palestine because they are killing children over there every day. They are wiping out families.”

September 17, 2021 - Hatred of Israel at WOL Rally

Mahmood chanted [00:01:35] slogans that promoted incitement and called [00:32:51] for Israel’s destruction as she participated in a September 17, 2021, WOL rally.

Mahmood appeared [00:01:46] in a video of the event, published on October 1, 2021, on the right side of the screen, cupping her right hand to her mouth to amplify her voice. She wore a light gray hoodie and gray sweatpants. Mahmood also appeared [00:32:57] in another video on the right side of the screen, at the front of the march, gesturing to urge on other protesters.

The rally was held in Manhattan and called people to: “Globalize the Intifada. Free all Palestinian prisoners… Defund the settler organizations, Honor The Martyrs…”

Before protesters marched, they gathered in a square where some of them stood [00:00:19] behind a banner that said: “Prisoners Revolt from Attica to Gilboa…” alluding to Palestinian terrorists who had escaped from an Israeli prison that same month.

On September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the maximum-security Gilboa Prison in Israel. The escaped prisoners were convicted members of the terror organizations Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, who were jailed for their involvement in attacks carried out during the second intifada. All were recaptured by September 19, 2021, by Israeli authorities.

Mahmood then chanted [00:01:35]: “What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now! If we don’t get it, shut it down!” and [00:01:51]: “No justice, no peace!” She appeared [00:01:46] on the right side of the screen, wearing a light gray hoodie and gray sweatpants, standing next to another protester who wore a pink t-shirt.

Later, as protesters marched, Mahmood chanted [00:32:51]: “One, two, three, four, open up the prison doors! Five, six, seven, eight, smash the settler Zionist state!” She appeared [00:32:57] on the right side of the screen, at the front of the march, urging other protesters to chant this slogan.

Mahmood also chanted [00:40:13]: “No justice, no peace! If we don’t get no justice, then they don’t get no peace!” and [00:41:24]: “Free, Free Palestine!” She appeared [00:40:21] in a video of the event published on October 2, 2021, on the right side of the screen, marching at the head of the procession in front of a red “Within Our Lifetime” banner.

Later, as anti-Israel activists entered the subway en masse, Mahmood joined them in chanting [00:09:11]: “Whose streets? Our streets! Whose train, our train!” She appeared [00:09:14] on the left side of the screen, filming the protesters with her cell phone while carrying a white bag in her left hand.

April 20, 2022 - Hatred of Israelis at WOL Rally

Mahmood chanted [00:11:22] slogans that demonized Israel and expressed [00:12:04] hatred of Israelis. She also celebrated [00:51:42] the stomping of an Israeli flag [00:52:22] by violent anti-Israel agitator Suleiman Othman and chanted [00:59:04] a slogan that promoted incitement as she participated in an April 20, 2022, WOL rally.

The WOL rally, titled: “NYC EMERGENCY RALLY TO SUPPORT PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE & LIBERATION BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY,” was held at the Israeli consulate in Manhattan. The rally was a collaboration between WOL, Samidoun and other anti-Israel organizations.

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

As anti-Israel protesters gathered near the Israeli consulate, Mahmood chanted [00:11:22]: “Not another nickel, not another dime! No more money for Israel’s crimes!”

Mahmood also chanted [00:12:04]: “Settlers [Israelis], settlers, go back home! Palestine is our home!” She appeared [00:12:05] at various points [00:11:25] in a Youtube video published on April 21, 2022, dressed in a black biker jacket, black pants and eyeglasses, wearing a Palestinian flag scarf draped across her neck.

Later, after activists had started to march, Mahmood stood at the front of the marchers chanting [00:59:04]: “No justice, no peace! If we don’t get no justice, then they don’t get no peace!” She appeared [00:59:08] at the right side of the screen, marching while facing the anti-Israel crowd.

Samuel Bravo, a local journalist, reported that one man who wore an Israeli flag on his back and walked with a crutch had been “chased down and beaten” at the march. Bravo posted a video that showed Saadah Masoud punching Matt Greenman, a Jewish man, in the face. Masoud also stole Greenman’s Israeli flag. Bravo also reported that an elderly woman was injured while trying to stop Masoud’s attack.

WOL

Within Our Lifetime (WOL) is a pro-terror activist group in New York City dedicated to Israel’s destruction within the lifetime of its members.

Acts of violence and physical confrontations with police have frequently occurred at WOL protests and marches. WOL uses harassment campaigns to target pro-Israel organizations or companies that do business with Israel, making it a part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Multiple activists who have either burned Israeli flags or led chants at WOL rallies were later jailed for violent anti-Semitic hate crimes, including Saadah Masoud and Waseem Awawdeh. In Masoud’s case, he received 18 months in jail for an anti-Semitic assault at an April 2022 WOL rally and two other anti-Semitic assaults in 2021.

WOL promotes “resistance” against Israel “by any means necessary,” calls to “Globalize the Intifada,” spreads incitement and idolizes [00:34:06] Palestinian terrorists like Leila Khaled and others at rallies and online events.

WOL was founded by Nerdeen Kiswani and Dan Cione in 2015. Kiswani is a frequent speaker at WOL rallies where she has promoted terrorism against Israelis and called for the death of Zionists. She has also provided support for Masoud and other activists following their arrests.

WOL began as the New York City chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), going by NYC SJP, but changed its name in 2018. The group is not found to be registered in any U.S. state as a nonprofit organization under its official name. Nor is there any listing for WOL under its name on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website for tax-exempt organizations.

Red Lions

The Red Lions is an anti-Israel group led by activist Saadah Masoud, a violent convicted criminal. He has promoted [00:52:04] violence against Israel supporters in his Red Lions activism.

In a July 2021 interview, Masoud discussed [00:24:48] how he founded the Red Lions as an “idea” for “anybody who has the heart to speak up against injustice” and how he gave [00:25:22] “Red Lions” t-shirts he made to people he felt lived up to this standard.

Red Lions activists have participated [slide 4] in multiple Within Our Lifetime (WOL) protests in New York City. At WOL protests, Red Lions activists [00:01:43] have expressed [00:17:58] hatred of Israelis, promoted [00:06:11] incitement and ripped [00:00:41] and burned [00:01:25] an Israeli flag.

When violent anti-Israel activist Mahmoud R. Musa was released from prison on June 9, 2021, he appeared [00:00:01] in a Twitter video with a Red Lions t-shirt draped on his back. Musa said [00:00:03], “Free Palestine,” and then Masoud said: “talk that s**t lions!” Musa was greeted [00:00:17] by several other people in Red Lions t-shirts. He then hugged [00:00:21] Masoud, who wore a Red Lions t-shirt.
