On August 1, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE) against terrorists in Gaza, Wazwaz tweeted: “...[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] @netanyahu is the modern day Hitler!”
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.
Israel commenced Operation Protective Edge (OPE) in July 2014, to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
On August 1, 2014, Wazwaz posted on Facebook: “Turkey PM slams Israel for ‘Hitler-like fascism’ / Hahahahahha…”
On March 23, 2017, Wazwaz posted on Facebook: “My colleagues and I at Medill spent over a year working on Rasmea Odeh's story - a story that's so complex, emotionally gripping and deep.
We travelled to Detroit, Jerusalem and the West Bank to document her life. I don't think I'll ever meet anyone like her…”
Rasmea Odeh was a key military operative [00:02:08] with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist organization. In 1969, she masterminded a PFLP supermarket bombing that killed two college students. She also attempted to bomb the British consulate in Jerusalem. Odeh later moved to the United States but was deported to Jordan in 2017 for immigration fraud.
On November 13, 2014, Wazwaz posted on Facebook, referring to Rasmea Odeh as a “Palestinian activist and torture survivor.”
On July 19, 2014, during Israel’s OPE against Hamas and PIJ, Wazwaz tweeted: “Long live the resistance. Long live the resistance. Long live the resistance.”
Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.
On July 9, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “ZIONISTS MAKE MY BLOOD BOIL.”
Also on July 9, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “Dear Israel- you may have Zionist supporters and western media on your side, but the truth will NEVER be on your side.”
On July 29, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “The one thing Zionist terrorists don't have is the truth. Truth is on our side and will always remain on our side. #longlivepalestine.”
On November 14, 2012, Wazwaz tweeted: “America and Israel sitting in a tree...K-I-L-L-I-N-G.”
Wazwaz wrote her tweet during Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense (OPD) against Hamas.
Israel launched OPD to stop Hamas rocket attacks on Israeli civilians from Gaza. Over the course of eight days in November 2012, Palestinian terrorist groups fired more than 1,500 rockets at Israel. The majority struck Israel, damaging homes, schools and other civilian areas. Human Rights Watch noted: “Palestinian armed groups made clear in their statements that harming civilians was their aim.”
On November 15, 2012, Wazwaz tweeted: “#ISRAEL: The 51st state of America. The flag is white and blue. Its just missing red but I guess they have Palestinian blood for that. #gaza.”
On December 5, 2013, Wazwaz tweeted, accusing Israel of “apartheid.”
On July 6, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “From the river to the sea, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE. ✌️…”
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
On July 11, 2014, during Israel’s OPE against Hamas and PIJ terrorists, Wazwaz tweeted: “Hey @BarackObama, stop supporting Israeli terrorism!”
On July 19, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “Israeli flag has been taken down in Dublin! Viva Palestine! #FreePalestine #FreeGaza.”
On July 25, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “3rd intifada. #FreePalestine.”
The first intifada (1987-1991) saw Palestinian gunmen hijack multiple buses, as well as perpetrate shooting, stabbing and bombing attacks against Israelis. The second intifada (2000-2005) was characterized by more than 120 suicide bombings against Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes. The “Knife Intifada” in late 2015 was characterized by Palestinian youth stabbing Israeli civilians.
On July 29, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “...Israel was created in 1948... Beginning of ethnic cleansing.”
On August 1, 2014, during OPE, Wazwaz tweeted: “The world is letting fascist Israel continue its genocide of Palestinians so they’re not even hiding…”
On August 3, 2017, Wazwaz featured [00:02:46] in a YouTube video where she spoke on July 28, 2017, at the Palestine Center in Washington, DC, as part of a summer lecture series titled: “Reporting on Palestine.” Wazwaz, referring to the Palestinian “right of return,” claimed [00:32:11]: “It’s under international law that the Palestinians, like every refugee, deserve to go back to their, to their home.”
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel. International law mandates no absolute right of return and UN Resolution 194, which defined principles for “refugees wishing to return to their homes,” was unanimously rejected by Arab nations following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
On May 30, 2020, Wazwaz tweeted: “‘The state of Minnesota, where [George] Floyd was killed, trains its police officers in the best that Israel has to offer in the art of suppression. At least 100 of its law enforcement officers attended a counterterrorism conference with their Israeli counterparts in 2012.‘”
The accusation that Israeli law enforcement teaches American police brutal tactics during police exchange programs is used to demonize Israel. Participants in these programs have stated that the training in Israel focuses on public policy, counterterrorism and leadership training in the form of lectures and discussions.
On May 30, 2020, Wazwaz tweeted: “‘The inherent racism of Israeli society, in which every Palestinian is viewed as a potential threat to Israel’s Jewish citizens, is replicated by white law enforcement officers in their views about black Americans, Muslims and other minority groups.’”
On May 19, 2021, during Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW), Wazwaz tweeted: “How does one ‘restore calm’ by massacring civilians? Surely by ‘calm’ he means wiping out all Palestinians in Gaza.”
Wazwaz’s tweet was in response to a tweet that said: “BREAKING: Netanyahu responds to Biden: I appreciate his support for Israel's right for self defense. I an determined to continue the operation in Gaza until it achieves its goal of restoring calm.”
In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes.
Following OGW, Wazwaz signed a June 9, 2021 open letter on “U.S. media coverage of Palestine.”
The letter argued that “reporting on Palestine” had to change and that “the evidence of Israel’s systematic oppression of Palestinians” was overwhelming and should “no longer be sanitized.”
The letter also claimed that the terms “apartheid, persecution, ethnic supremacy” were “gaining institutional recognition after years of Palestinian advocacy” and that journalists needed to verify whether their coverage reflected that reality.
On August 1, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “CHICAGO March Against World Silence on Gaza Massacre. Sunday, August 10 at 2:30 PM at Grant Park. RT [retweet] RT RT #ChicagoStandsWithGaza.”
On July 11, 2014, Wazwaz tweeted: “Condemn the Apartheid State of Israel… SIGN PETITION & RT !!!

.”On December 1, 2013, Wazwaz tweeted: “I feel so incredibly happy to have been a part of the AMP conference this past weekend. #ampconf.”
On November 25, 2012, Wazwaz tweeted: “... just got back from the AMP conference…"
American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) was founded by UC Berkeley Professor Hatem Bazian as a vehicle to generate mainstream support in the United States for the Palestinian national cause.
On its website, the organization lists Bazian as the chairman of its national board and describes itself as “a national education and grassroots-based organization, dedicated to educating the American public about Palestine and its rich cultural, historical and religious heritage.”
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has accused AMP of promoting “extreme anti-Israel views and has at times provided a platform for anti-Semitism under the guise of educating Americans” about Palestinians. The ADL further stated that AMP is directly involved in campus-based anti-Israel activity through Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).
Prior to founding the AMP in 2006, Dr. Bazian created SJP together with fellow UC Berkeley Professor Snehal Shingavi in 2001. The close working relationship between AMP and SJP has been documented several times over the years by several organizations, including NGO Monitor and StandWithUs.
In addition to providing financial, public relations and legal assistance to SJP, AMP has also been accused of having connections to Hamas. The AMP national board includes former members of both the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP) and Holy Land Foundation (HLF), both of which were found liable for aiding and abetting Hamas. The IAP was founded by Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook, a senior member of Hamas.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
