Spreading Hatred of Israel and Anti-Semitism

On December 7, 2023, Jboor spoke [00:26:57] at a Capitol Hill press conference to call for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, where he spread [00:30:22] hatred of Israel and [00:30:35] anti-Semitism. Anti-Israel members of Congress Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Cori Bush co-organized the event

In his speech, Jboor called [00:29:06] for an “immediate,” as well as “permanent and unconditional” ceasefire between Israel and Hamas terrorists. Jboor also called [00:29:28] for “immediate and unlimited aid to Gaza.”

Jboor then said: [00:30:22] “I implore the [Biden] administration and all politicians to take swift action to stop the ongoing mass murder and genocide of the whole people of Palestine.”

Jboor continued [00:30:35]: “Never again. Never again should be for all, not just for some.”

The phrase “Never Again” is often deployed as a general declaration against genocide, invoking the Nazis’ war of extermination against the Jews.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

Jboor later called [00:34:01] for the “urgent provision of aid for the besieged and butchered people of Gaza.”

Israel and Egypt implemented a UN-approved [pp. 39–41] joint blockade of the Gaza Strip in 2011 to stop Hamas from acquiring more sophisticated rockets. Hamas went around the blockade by smuggling weaponry through tunnels under the Philadelphi corridor separating Gaza from Egypt.

Jboor concluded [00:34:57]: “We refuse to be complicit in this murder and genocide…Please stop the mass murder. Never again for all, not just for the few.”
