Natalie Abulhawa
Natalie Abulhawa [Natalie Abulhawa-Hackett] spread antisemitism, glorified the Hamas terror organization and led multiple anti-Israel rallies in late 2023 and early 2024.
Abulhawa has also expressed support for a terror organization and spread hatred of Zionists and Israel on social media.
The incidents occurred in the wake of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The Hamas terror attacks left approximately 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”
Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.
On March 17, 2022, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Abulhawa had been fired in November 2021 from her position as an athletic trainer at a private school after parents complained about her antisemitic social media posts.
As of February 2024, Abulhawa was an organizer and volunteer for the Philly Palestine Coalition (PPC). In December 2023, the Middle East Eye reported that Abulhawa was also a spokesperson for the PPC.
The Fourteenth Street magazine reported that Abulhawa had been a freshman member of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at Temple University (Temple SJP) in 2016
Abulhawa is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
On December 3, 2023, Abulhawa spread antisemitism while leading an anti-Israel rally and march organized by the PPC titled: “Flood Philly for Gaza” that began at Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Abulhawa was seen wearing a keffiyeh and speaking into a microphone at the front of the crowd of protesters.
The keffiyeh is a Palestinian headdress traditionally worn by men, which has become a symbol of Palestinian nationalism.
The language of “flood” is a reference to Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, the name Hamas used for their terror operation on October 7, 2023. It is a reference to the allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque. This accusation has been a pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before Israel was founded in 1948. Such propaganda has led to multiple periods of violence against Israeli civilians.
Protesters called for Israel’s destruction, chanting [00:00:02]: “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free!” They also called for violence, chanting [00:00:02]: “There is only one solution! Intifada, revolution!”
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.
On December 4, 2023, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the “Flood Philly for Gaza Rally” protesters stopped their march in front of Goldie, a falafel shop owned by Israeli Michael Solomov. According to a video embedded in the article, protesters were chanting [00:00:02]: “Goldie, Goldie, you can’t hide; we charge you with genocide!”
In December 2003, The Guardian reported that Abulhawa, on behalf of the Philly Palestine Coalition (PPC), “helped write” a since-deleted Instagram post, reposted on October 30, 2023 by a Twitter user, headlined: “Boycott ‘Israeli’ Food & Zionist Businesses in Philly.”
The post said: “Restaurants and businesses claiming to sell ‘Israeli’ food, fruits, vegetables, and products are a part of an ongoing colonial campaign of stealing, appropriating, and profiting off of Palestinian food and culture as a means of erasing Palestinian existence.” The post listed Goldie as one of several local Jewish-owned restaurants to boycott.
On December 16, 2023, Abulhawa promoted [00:00:01] violence against Israelis while leading an anti-Israel rally and march also titled “Flood Philly for Gaza.” Abulhawa is seen speaking into a microphone, wearing a brown top with black pants, wrapped in a black-and-white keffiyeh.
On December 16, 2023, the PPC rallied at Philadelphia’s City Hall South in support of Hamas’s October 7, 2023 invasion of Israeli communities.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.
For more information, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.
Speakers at the PPC rally, chanted [00:00:54] “I believe that we will win!!!” after glorifying Hamas as “the resistance.”
Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.
Abulhawa, who helped lead the rally, led rallygoers in chanting: [00:00:02] “Long Live The Intifada” and screaming: [00:00:12] “One Solution; revolution!!” Rallygoers also chanted [00:00:087] “From Palestine to the Congo- All Colonizers Got To Go!!” and [00:00:33] “Free, free Palestine!! Free, free, free Palestine!!”
On February 5, 2024, Abulhawa participated [00:00:39] in a state-wide action to disrupt the Pennsylvania Senate’s first day of session to demand divestment from Israel. The action was organized by PPC with JVP Philly, CAIR Philly, and others, and held at the Pennsylvania State Capitol building in Harrisburg.
Abulhawa is seen addressing [00:00:04] the protesters from the steps of the Capitol building, dressed in black and wearing a black-and-white keffiyeh.
The Pennsylvania Capital-Star reported that protesters at the event unlawfully entered the Rotunda inside the building, resulting in the arrest of many activists.
Abulhawa attempted [00:00:39] to enter the building “to speak to our senators” and was told by security guards that the “entrance is closed.”
Protesters at the rally held signs that read [slide 2]: “BREAK ISRAEL’S HOLD ON PA [Pennsylvania] POLITICS” and [slide 7]: “ISRAEL IS A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION.”
As of December 2024, Abulhawa’s Instagram bio said: “
long live the res!stance.”
The inverted red triangle is a symbol showing support for Hamas and Palestinian terrorism. It was first used by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 Hamas terror attacks to signify an Israeli target.
On December 4, 2023, Abulhawa posted on Instagram: “
our heroes.” The post included a video that characterized [00:00:01] Hamas terrorists as “legitimate, “fearless” and “super genius.”
The video displayed [00:00:09] images of Hamas terrorists in motorized paragliders invading Israel’s Gaza border on October 7, 2023, in order to perpetrate atrocities against Israeli civilians. Hamas’ paraglider attack was widely posted on social media.
In the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror attack on Israel, numerous terrorists infiltrated into Israel in motorized paragliders. Hamas terrorists descended in gliders on the Nova Music Festival, where they slaughtered over 360 unarmed young men and women. In the wake of the atrocities, images of Hamas militants on paragliders served to symbolize and glorify the deadly attacks.
The video also glorified [00:01:08] Hamas leaders Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Yahya Ayyesh and Yahya Sinwar.
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin has been described as the “mastermind of Palestinian terror” behind many suicide bombings against Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes during the second intifada. In January 2003, Yassin said in an interview: “Suicide attacks and jihad reinforce national unity in the ranks…Our voice is one of struggle, of jihad and of suicide…”
Yahya Ayyash, known as the Engineer of Death, was the chief bomb-maker for Hamas during the mid-1990s. He manufactured the explosives used in eight suicide attacks targeting Jewish civilians that killed a total of 77 people and injured at least 398 others. Among the victims were Israeli and Palestinian civilians as well as one American civilian and 20 Israeli soldiers.
Yahya (Yehiya) Sinwar masterminded the October 7, 2023 terror attacks on Israel and had been a Hamas leader since the 1980s. Sinwar was nicknamed the “Butcher of Khan Younis” after he admitted to killing 12 suspected Palestinian “collaborators,” and in 1989 was sentenced to four life terms in Israeli prison for crimes including the killing of two Israeli soldiers.
In 2011, Sinwar was released by Israel to Gaza following the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal and resumed his leadership role in Hamas. On October 17, 2024, the Israel Defense Forces eliminated Sinwar in Gaza.
In the video, the voiceover said [00:01:25]: “The 7th of October was not an attack as they made it seem. It was a response to what’s been happening for 75 years.”
The modern State of Israel was founded 75 years earlier, in 1948.
The voiceover [00:02:26] continued: “My heroes did not attack humanity on the 7th. They just told it that this is an occupation and no one can stand in the way of their liberation.”
The voiceover concluded [00:02:45]: “If their occupier wants to erase their existence our heroes will respond from zero distance. Long live the triangle, long live the resistance, long live Palestine, from the river to the sea.”
On November 29, 2023, Abulhawa spoke [00:00:13] at an anti-Israel rally held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where criticized [00:02:04] the Philadelphia City Council’s passage of a resolution on October 19 to condemn the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attacks.
On October 19, 2023, Abulhawa attended [slide 3] the public comment against Philadelphia City Council Resolution 230706 titled: “Condemning the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel and calling for a peaceful resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.”
That day, the Philadelphia City Council reportedly approved the resolution to condemn the Hamas attacks in a unanimous “voice” vote.
On August 5, 2016, Abulhawa posted on Twitter: “F**k each and every single Zionist on this planet. I hope they rot in f**king hell. F**king c**ts.”
On August 4, 2016, Abulhawa posted on Twitter: “Israel doesn't have the right to exist![]()

On March 17, 2022, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Abulhawa was fired from her position as an athletic trainer at the Agnes Irwin School (Agnes Irwin) in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, after parents and faculty members raised concerns about her antisemitic social media posts.
On March 16, 2022, CAIR’s Philadelphia chapter (CAIR-Philadelphia) held a press conference to announce that it had filed a federal charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against Agnes Irwin on Abulhawa’s behalf.
On March 16, 2022, CAIR-Philadelphia also initiated a letter-writing campaign titled: “Apologize and Remedy the Harm Done to Natalie; Remove Anti-Palestinian Bias from Agnes Irwin School” with links to the original press release and a statement written by Abulhawa.
On March 17, 2022, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Abulhawa did not deny the accuracy of her public social media posts.
CAIR reportedly has “significant ties” to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and Hamas. A number of former CAIR employees have been convicted on fraud and terrorism-related charges that resulted monetary fines, jail terms and, sometimes, deportation. In May 2007, CAIR was listed as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in a U.S.-filed action against the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) for providing funds to Hamas. CAIR was also listed as a terrorist entity by the United Arab Emirates, in 2014.
On July 25, 2014, Abulhawa posted on X (then known as Twitter): “One day our children will be learning about the Palestinian holocaust, just like we learned about the Jewish holocaust.”
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.
Anti-Israel activists compare Israel to Nazi Germany to insinuate that the plight of Palestinians has eclipsed Jewish suffering during the Holocaust.

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Student Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
