Nabila Uddin

Overview

Nabila Uddin [Nabila Siddika Uddin] has expressed support for terrorists. Uddin has also spread anti-Semitism, incitement and hatred of Israel as a Within Our Lifetime (WOL) activist. She has been a WOL activist since 2020

WOL is an anti-Israel group in New York City founded by Nerdeen Kiswani. Until February 2018, WOL was known as a branch of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), going by the name NYC SJP. WOL’s “Points of Unity” states: “We defend the right of Palestinians as colonized people to resist the zionist occupation by any means necessary.”

Uddin has also opposed the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism.

As of April 2023, Uddin was listed as a “Law Graduate” in the Tenants Rights Unit of the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG). However, as of the same date, her LinkedIn profile said she had been a “Staff Attorney” with NYLAG since September 2022.

As of April 2023, Uddin was listed as having passed the New York State Bar Exam in February 2023. Her name was listed as “Nabila Siddika Udin.”

As of April 2023, Uddin’s LinkedIn said she graduated with a law degree from the City University of New York School of Law (CUNY Law) in 2022. Uddin also graduated with a bachelor’s degree in construction management and architecture from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in 2018.

As of the same date, Uddin’s LinkedIn said she was located in the “New York City Metropolitan Area.”

As of April 2023, Uddin used the handle “@nabzzz20” on her TikTok account.

Terror Support (PIJ)

On November 6, 2020, Uddin shared two posts on Facebook celebrating the release of Maher al-Akhras from an Israeli prison.

Maher al-Akhras is a terrorist leader affiliated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). In July 2020, al-Akhras was arrested by Israeli security forces due to his role in the PIJ but was released in November 2020 after a prolonged hunger strike.

On October 24, 2020, Uddin posted on Facebook: “Zionism is evil.” Her post included a link to a post about Maher al-Akhras’ hunger strike.

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

On June 23, 2020, Uddin shared a WOL Facebook post about terrorist Ahmad Erakat that said: “Ahmad Erakat was murdered in cold blood by israeli occupation forces today.”

Ahmad Erekat [Ahmad Moustafa Erekat; Ahmed Erakat] was killed by Israeli security forces after he accelerated and rammed his car into soldiers at a checkpoint. One female soldier was injured. The incident was captured on video.

“Israeli Occupation Forces,” or “IOF,” is a derogatory name for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) used by anti-Israel activists to demonize Israel’s army.

May 18, 2021 - Hatred of Israel at a WOL Rally

On May 18, 2021, Uddin promoted a WOL rally on Facebook by sharing WOL’s post featuring a flier for the event that day.

On May 19, 2021, Uddin posted a video on TikTok from a WOL rally titled: “Emergency Rally to Defend Palestine.” The rally occurred outside the Israeli Consulate in Manhattan during Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW) against Hamas.

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

Uddin captioned her TikTok video: “Free Palestine within our lifetime! 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸#nyc #manhattan #palestine #freepalestine.” In the video, activists stood on a truck and waved smoke canisters.

Immediately following the protest, Saadah Masoud, a violent anti-Israel activist, led [00:00:08] a mob [00:00:06] of protestors in physically attacking two men, one of whom held an Israeli flag.

May 22, 2021 - Promoting Anti-Semitism from a WOL Rally

On May 22, 2021, Uddin posted a TikTok video from a WOL rally titled: “QUEENS RALLY FOR PALESTINE.” In the video, a protester can be seen holding [00:00:12] a sign that said: “THE NAZIS ARE STILL AROUND / THEY CALL THEMSELVES ZIONISTS NOW.”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

Uddin captioned the video: “Took over Queens today! Free Free Palestine from the river to the sea!🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸#queensnyc #queens #nyc #freepalestine🇵🇸 #astoria #palestine.”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.

At the same protest, Saadah Masoud could be seen burning an Israeli flag. Other activists at the rally chanted [slide 2]: “Intifada! Intifada! Long Live the Intifada!” and [slide 3] “United Nations at what cost?! Will you stop this Holocaust?!”

The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.

On May 23, 2021, Uddin shared on Facebook a post from WOL featuring a summary of and photos from the protest.

May 29, 2021 - Hatred of Israel at an AMP Protest

On May 30, 2021, Uddin posted a TikTok video of footage from a May 29, 2021 protest organized by American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) and promoted by WOL.

In the TikTok video, a protestor held [00:00:10] a sign that read: “ISRAEL = SERIAL KILLERS / CHILD MURDERERS.” The protest took place in Washington, D.C.

Uddin captioned the video: “Palestine will never die! a post 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸#palestine #washington #washingtondc #whitehouse #power #freepalestine #nyc #wol #amp.” The protest was titled: “National March for Palestine.”

December 25, 2021 - Spreading Incitement at a WOL Event

On December 25, 2021, Uddin featured [slide 1] in a WOL Instagram photo from a WOL event that day, holding a sign that read: “DEFEND AL-AQSA / DEFEND JERUSALEM / DEFEND PALESTINE.”

The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state. Such propaganda has led to multiple periods of violence against Israeli civilians.

January 22, 2022 - Spreading Incitement at a Protest

On January 22, 2022, Uddin participated [slide 3] in a rally titled: “EMERGENCY RESPONSE RALLY IN DEFENSE OF PALESTINIANS RESISTING GENOCIDE, COLONIZATION & IMPRISONMENT.” The rally took place in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

Uddin wore [slide 3] a yellow armband and held a poster that said: “DEFEND SHEIKH JARRAH / DEFEND PALESTINE.”

WOL organizers often wear [00:18:39] armbands to identify themselves to protestors.

In May 2021, calls to “save” Sheikh Jarrah, a Jerusalem neighborhood at the center of a property dispute, led to violence against Israelis and were one of the leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel that month.

At the same protest, Kiswani led [00:09:32] protestors in the chant: “Say it loud, say it clear! We don’t want no zionists here!” Another speaker led [00:13:38] the crowd in the chant: “It is right to rebel, Israel go to hell!”

April 20, 2022 - Hatred of Israel at a WOL Protest

On April 20, 2022, Uddin attended [00:10:49] a protest co-organized by WOL titled: “NYC RALLY TO SUPPORT PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE & LIBERATION BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.” The rally took place in front of the Israeli Consulate in Manhattan.

On April 21, 2022, Uddin featured [00:29:36] in a video from the protest while holding up a banner that read: “GLOBALIZE THE INTIFADA.”

“Globalize the Intifada” is an anti-Israel campaign launched by Within Our Lifetime (WOL) in the summer of 2021, intended as an “ongoing strike at the heart of empire [sic] with Palestine as its compass.” The movement seeks to “break free from the genocidal grip of U.S. imperialism and Zionism” and advocates “liberation by any means necessary.”
At the same protest, Suleiman Othman, an anti-Israel activist, shouted [00:44:22] an anti-Semitic slur and other insults at a protester wearing an Israeli flag and walking with a crutch. Later on, Saadah Masoud physically assaulted the man and stole his flag. Othman eventually got possession of the flag, tied [00:47:47] it around his shoe, and trampled [00:48:12] it. Othman later held [00:50:48] the flag after it had been set on fire.

April 29, 2022 - WOL Protest

On April 29, 2022, Uddin participated [slide 6] in an anti-Israel protest co-organized by WOL and titled: “EMERGENCY PROTEST FOR PALESTINE.” The protest was held at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.

On April 30, 2022, Uddin was featured in a video from the protest where Kiswani shouted the names of deans and presidents from different schools in the CUNY system who had participated in a tour of Israel. Uddin, wearing a light blue blazer and a keffiyeh over her shoulders, stood directly behind Kiswani while waving a Palestinian flag, shouting back after each name: “Shame!” along with other protestors.

May 15, 2022 - WOL Protest

On May 15, 2022, Uddin spoke at an anti-Israel protest organized by WOL and titled: “Nakba 74.” The protest took place in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.

At the protest, Kiswani said [00:06:18]: “Ever since May 15, 1948, and even before, Palestinians have been killed senselessly, have been facing genocide, because the Israeli plan is to colonize all of Palestine from the river to the sea. And this is why we fight for Palestine from the river to the sea because every inch of that land is Palestinian…”

Opposing the IHRA Definition of Anti-Semitism

In 2021, Uddin signed a statement titled: “Open Letter to the CUNY Community Re: USS IHRA resolution,” written by the anti-Israel CUNY Jewish Law Students Association (JLSA) at the CUNY School of Law (CUNY Law)

The petition called on the University Student Senate (USS), CUNY’s student government, as well as the CUNY community, to vote against adopting a resolution that used the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism. The petition also recommended voting for a resolution that was written by JLSA and SJP at CUNY Law.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights multiple forms of contemporary anti-Semitism related to Israel, including “Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor” and “Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 other countries have adopted the definition as well.

On April 11, 2021, the CUNY USS voted on whether to adopt a resolution supporting the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism.

The CUNY USS also voted on the resolution that was co-authored by SJP and JLSA, which explicitly rejected [p. 3] the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism. The joint SJP-JLSA resolution was reportedly introduced by WOL founder and CUNY Law student Nerdeen Kiswani.

On April 11, 2021, the CUNY USS voted against the joint SJP-JLSA resolution, but also against adopting the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism.
