Matene Toure
Matene Toure ripped down posters meant to raise awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage in Gaza. Toure has also celebrated “intifada,” which is a call for violence.
Hamas kidnapped the civilians, including women and children, during a series of terror attacks and war crimes that left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Hamas executed the terror attacks on October 7, 2023.
The other Hamas war crimes included mass murder, torture, rape and beheadings. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron,” which was going on when Toure ripped down the posters.
Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

As of December 4, 2023, Toure was listed online as a current student in the master’s degree program in creative publishing and critical journalism (CPCJ) at the New School for Social Research (New School) in New York, New York.
As of December 7, 2023, Toure described herself online as “a writer interested in surveillance/visual culture, and art criticism.”
As of May 2023, Toure was listed online as the Co-Executive Editor of the “Social Life of Ideas” section at Back Matter, a digital magazine at the New School.
As of December 4, 2023, Toure was also listed online as having graduated from Fordham University in New York, New York, with a bachelor’s degree in political economy in May 2020.
