Overview

Linda Halisi [Lulu Halisi] has spread hatred of Israel and was a board member of Students Justice for Palestine (SJP) at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) (SJP CSUF) in2019 and 2020.

Halisi attended the 2019 National SJP Conference while reportedly serving as the public relations officer for SJP CSUF. National SJP 2019 for Non-UMN students.

As of August 2020, Halisi was listed as “Community Engagement Lead” for the Asian Pacific American Resource Center (APARC) at CSUF.

In October 2019, Halisi served as an Election Coordinator for the Associated Students Inc (ASI) “Elections Team''. In February 2020, she was also the “Diversity Chair” for the South West Asian North African (SWANA) club at CSUF and was affiliated with the group since 2019.

In 2016, Halisi obtained an Associates Degree in Maths and Science from Riverside City College (RCC), California. Halisi transferred to CSUF in 2018, studied Public Health and Biochemistry and graduated in June 2020.

During Halisi’s high school years, she promoted incitement, spread hatred of Israel and demonized America.

Spreading Hatred of Israel

Halisi retweeted a May 8, 2019, tweet from fellow SJP activist Hanin Sharif that said: “Bringing awareness to an illegitimate state which is founded on the exile and murdering of Palestinians is not anti-Semitic. How dare you consciously support a state which systematically oppresses every single aspect of the Palestinian’s freedom to live…”

Halisi commented on the tweet: “get it sis!!”

On April 8, 2019, Halisi tweeted: “Today I found out @benandjerrys funds Israeli apartheid and the saddest part is that I woke up one day and downed my last pint of B&J ever without knowing it was my last one )): </3.”

SJP Activism

On November 18, 2019, SJP CSUF shared [tenth slide] one of Halisi’s Instagram stories that promoted SJP CSUF’s “mock apartheid wall” with the caption: “come check it out #sjpcsuf.”

On November 18 and 19, 2020, SJP CSUF erected a mock “apartheid wall” on campus which was meant to represent Israel’s security barrier. The “apartheid well” also promoted BDS initiatives on campus across the United States.

Israel’s security barrier, 97 percent of which is a low chain-link barrier, was built as a deterrent to Palestinian terror attacks. The concrete portions of the fence were built in response to Palestinian sniper attacks.

On January 29, 2020, SJP CSUF posted [second slide] an Instagram story featuring Halisi tabling for a CSUF SJP event alongside fellow SJP activist Sharif.

On November 19, 2019, Halisi featured in an Instagram photo uploaded by Sharif to her Instagram story, posing in front of the mock “apartheid wall.”

On September 5, 2019, Halisi posted an Instagram story of Sharif tabling at an SJP CSUF event.

On April 30, 2019, Halisi posted a photo of herself to Instagram posing in front of the mock apartheid wall with fellow SJP activist Seleena Mukbel. She captioned the Instagram post: “for the country.”

High School - Promoting Incitement

On October 16, 2015, Halisi tweeted: “IDF [Israel Defense Forces]: cowards w/weapons paid by their gov Palestinians: brave souls bleeding for their country's soil #intifadaAlAqsa.”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians. The attacks were incited by Palestinian leaders propagating the libel that Israel intended to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

On October 7, 2015,Halisi tweeted: “There can be a 3rd #intifada, a 4th, 5th, 6th and a 7th one, but don't you think for one second that Palestinians will EVER stop resisting.”

On the same day, Halisi tweeted: “Please stop mistaking resistance for terrorism. #intifadaAlAqsa.”

On October 7, 2015, she also tweeted: “Shame on the Arab countries for leaving the burden of protecting #Jerusalem, the 3rd holiest site, entirely on Palestinian youth. #intifada.”

On October 6, 2015, she tweeted: “Bismillah [In the name of God] , this is just the beginning of everything. Intifada take 3, here goes nothing.#intifadaAlAqsa.”

On December 30, 2012, Halisi tweeted: “"@AwaisElahi_: LONG LIVE.." the Palestinian intifada.👊✌️.”

High School - Spreading Hatred of Israel

On April 23, 2015, Halisi tweeted: “You don't see anyone celebrating the beginning of the holocaust, but celebrating the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians is okay! #YomHaatzmaut.”

On July 8, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Halisi posted to Facebook: “I ask you to hold the Yehoud [Jews] of Israel and their military accountable for their crimes against your people and afflict them with a crushing and humiliating defeat.”

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

High School - Demonizing America

On September 10, 2014, Halisi tweeted:”If you rlly [sic] believe that the US govt wasn't behind the 9/11 attacks, go ahead and slap yourself.”

She continued: “RIP to every life that was forgone in the 9/11 GOVERNMENT attacks.”

On March 9. 2016, Halisi tweeted: “@IamLeezus this is Amerikkka Luis get it together.”

The term “Amerikkka” uses the initials of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) as a way to demonize America as “fascist or racist.”

On November 30, 2015, Halisi tweeted: “Only the United States of AmeriKKKa would support white supremacists without labeling them a terrorist organization.https://twitter.com/Isx_m22/status”

On June 11, 2015, Halisi tweeted: “That's just how things go in AmeriKKKa.”

On June 6, 2015, Halisi insinuated that America was responsible for the September 11, 2001 terror attacks and tweeted: “My graduation speech: ‘I'd like to start off by saying that Bush did 9/11....’”

Attending National SJP 2019

On November 8, 2019, Halisi posed in an Instagram photo posted by SJP CSUF, alongside other activists. The Instagram post read: “We had an amazing time at the NSJP conference and came back feeling more knowledgeable and empowered. Thank you to everyone that came to our NSJP debrief. We can’t wait to apply what we’ve learned in our positions. ✊🏽🇵🇸✌🏽.”

The 2019 National SJP Conference was held at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities (UMN), from November 1-3. The Conference themes centered on support for BDS as well as the rejection of Israel and Zionism.

The Conference partnered with numerous anti-Israel organizations and conducted their event in a clandestine manner.

2019 National SJP - Supporting BDS

The Conference website called to capitalize on shifts in the political climate, represented by the elections to the U.S. Congress of Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, who both support BDS. National SJP speakers also reportedly drew attention to Rep. Omar’s support for the BDS movement as the Representative for UMN’s Congressional district.

During the Conference, National SJP speakers reportedly “noted the success of past divestment campaigns at the University [UMN], which ultimately resulted in the passing of a campus-wide [BDS] referendum in 2018.”

The UMN resolution passed in 2018 by a margin of 3.4 percent of those students who voted, translating to approval by 6.18% of all eligible voters. Less than 13% of the eligible voters actually voted on UMN’s BDS referendum.

2019 National SJP - Rejecting Israel and Zionism

The 2019 National SJP Conference website indicated that the goal of their “solidarity movement” was to push for policies that “demanded the end of” the state of Israel, referred to as “the Israeli occupation.”

The website clarified that “the Palestinian struggle against Zionism, extends beyond the confines of 1967, and well before the Nakba,” and was based on the rejection of Jewish national self-determination in Israel.

Nakba is an Arabic term for “catastrophe” and refers to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel.

2019 National SJP - Heightened Secrecy

The 2019 National SJP Conference required attendees to be “verified and vouched for” by an SJP chapter to which they belonged and required each chapter to register as a group. The conference also required each group to be verified by a “reference––someone who is NOT going to this conference but who is or has recently been a part of your SJP.”

Members of allied student groups could register only as part of an SJP chapter delegation which, in turn, needed to be “vouched for by their campus’s SJP” for “security culture and accountability reasons.”

The Conference also restricted media access to journalists “registered and confirmed by our Media Committee in advance to attend the conference. Absolutely no exceptions will be made.”

During the Conference, National SJPreportedly covered the windows of the conference hall.

2019 National SJP - Partnering Organizations

National SJP partnered with other anti-Israel organizations to table, sell merchandise and lead workshops, including CODEPINK, Palestine Youth Movement (PYM), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), Palestine Legal, Watan Palestine and the Adalah Justice Project.

Keynote speakers included Loubna Qutami, Chair of PYM, as well as Taher Herzallah of American Muslims for Palestine (AMP). Other speakers included Miko Peled, Sandra Tamari, Suhad Katib, Chris Gazaleh, Clarissa Bitar, Tariq Luthun, Maytha Alhassen and Sima Shakhsari.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
