Han Gia Nguyen

Han Gia Nguyen [Heather Nguyen] was arrested at a pro-Hamas encampment at Arizona State University (ASU) during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. Israel launched the war after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks.

On April 27, 2024, Han Gia Nguyen was arrested for third-degree criminal trespass at the ASU encampment.

The encampment was part of a national movement on college campuses during Israel’s war against Hamas. The encampments were also in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of March 2025, Han Gia Nguyen's LinkedIn profile said Nguyen was studying for a bachelor's degree in psychology and family and human development at ASU, slated to graduate in 2025.

As of the same date, Han Gia Nguyen's LinkedIn said Nguyen had worked as a community education ambassador at ASU since 2025 and that she was located in Chandler, Arizona.

As of March 2025, Han Gia Nguyen went by the username "gia emojiCode - 1f349 " on TikTok.

The watermelon has been appropriated by anti-Israel activists as a symbol of Palestinian "resistance" to "Israeli occupation," as it shares the Pan-Arab colors. It has been depicted in art, used on flags at protests and posted online. It gained popularity following the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023.
