The profilee's activism occurred during an extended period of global antisemitism that began with the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas in Gaza.

On July 25, 2025, Jones wrote on Bluesky: "there should be no forgiveness whatsoever for the perpetrators, enablers, and sympathizers of the Zionist holocaust of Gaza. the absolute bare minimum is consequences of the highest degree and complete global isolation from this point forward. anything less than that is abject failure."

The term “genocide” was coined in 1942 and first used at the Nuremberg Trials of Nazi war criminals. Since Israel's founding in 1948, anti-Israel activists have accused Israel of "genocide" in an attempt to compare Jews to Nazis and delegitimize the creation of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel.
