Benjamin James participated in at least two anti-Israel events in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in May 2024.

The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.

As of June 2025, Benjamin James' X bio said he was a PhD student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Marchers at the rally carried signs produced by the organizers that said: "RESISTANCE IS JUSTIFIED WHEN PEOPLE ARE OCCUPIED!"

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

The event was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The outcome of the movement's goals would result in Israel's destruction. Within hours of the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, the BDS movement renewed its call for an anti-Israel boycott.
