Austin Bashore

Overview

Austin Bashore has supported Hamas-led riots and spread hatred of Israel and America.

Bashore is affiliated with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at Kent State University (KSU). He has also promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of January 2018, Bashore’s Facebook page said he was slated to graduate from KSU in 2019 and was studying “Teaching English as a Second Language · Mandarin Chinese · East Asian Languages and Cultures.” He was a student at Soonchunhyang University in South Korea from August 2017 to July 2018.

Bashore’s Facebook page also said that he was the campus organizer for the Green Party in Kent, Ohio and was the social media manager for 2018 Green Party gubernatorial candidate Constance Gadell-Newton.

Supporting the Hamas-led March of Return

On March 30, 2018, Bashore tweeted#FreePalestine🇵🇸” in response to an Israeli military spokeperson’s tweet from the morning of that day that said: “Update: 17,000 Palestinians are rioting in 5 locations along the Gaza Strip security fence. The rioters are rolling burning tires and hurling firebombs & rocks at the security fence & IDF troops, who are responding w riot dispersal means and firing towards main instigators.”

On March 30, 2018, some 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza approached Israel’s border to take part in “Land Day Protests” or the “March of Return.” The March of Return was organized and funded by Hamas as a campaign of violent protests along Israel’s border to spotlight the demand of Palestinians to “return” to Israel.

The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.

March participants sent scores of kites bearing explosive devices across Israel’s border to burn Israeli crops and homes. Participants also attempted to breach the border fence, which caused the Israeli Defense Forces to respond with live fire.

Agitators threw Molotov cocktails, firebombs, shot firearms and threw rocks under the cover of smoke from burning tires.

On May 16, 2018, a Hamas senior official stated that 50 out of 62 protesters killed during a May 14 protest were Hamas operatives. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also claimed that three of its members were killed at the same protest.

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On September 19, 2017, Bashore implied in a tweet that Israel is a “pile of trash in the ocean [that] has grown to the size of France.”

On August 12, 2017, Bashore tweeted: “Queer people in Israel are being stabbed at parades, Jews of colour are being deported, and Palestinians are denied the right to exist.”

In July 2015, Yishai Schlissel, an Israeli Jew, stabbed six people at the Jerusalem Pride parade. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
On August 4, 2017, Bashore tweeted that Israel “use to go by Palestine before she was f**ked by some white people and now she takes all of her hanger out on her neighbors. Sad.”

On July 16, 2017, Bashore tweeted: “Straight up: I dont give a h*ck if Israel is a Jewish state… My issue is the ethic genocide they're committing.”

On June 11, 2017, Bashore tweeted: “White people cant bear 75°F in northern Ohio but yet think they're the people of Israel, a desert nation in the Middle East. Lol.”

On May 23, 2017, Bashore tweeted: “THE UNITED STATES AND ISRAEL ARE OUT HERE BOMBING PRESCHOOLS, HOSPITALS, AND PLACES OF WORSHIP AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT.”

On April 17, 2017, Bashore implied on Twitter that Israel allegedly seeks to deport “Ethiopian Jews from Israel.”

On September 17, 2016, Bashore tweeted: “F**k Israel.”

On August 11, 2016, Bashore tweeted: “Israel IS an apartheid state. Palestinians are being subjugated & separated purposely from the European Jewish Israelis.”

On May 31, 2015, Bashore tweeted: “Supporting Israel is like supporting North Korea. They both bully their neighbors, refuse nuclear probes, and even attack their neighbours.”

On May 30, 2015, Bashore tweeted: “Israel has legal segregation of Palestinians and Israelis. How disgusting. #IslamophobiaISREAL.”

Spreading Hatred of America

On May 14, 2018, Bashore tweeted: “America needs to not exist.”

On May 5, 2015, Bashore tweeted: “What's the difference between the United States and Nazi Germany? Nothing! You'll get shot in the ghetto in both countries!”

SJP Activism

On March 20, 2017, during SJP KSU’s Israel Apartheid Week, Bashore tweeted: “I'm here for Israeli apartheid week and I asked a guy ‘do you have any questions on Palestine?’ And he looked at me & replied ‘not from you.’”

Mac SPHR - Israel Apartheid Week

SPHR Mac hosted and ran a two-week long “Israel Apartheid Week (IAW)” from March 6 until March 17, 2017.

On March 1, 2017, SPHR Mac tweeted: “Join us from March 6-17 here at McMaster University in our struggle against colonization, militarization and apartheid! #IAWMAC2017.”

The tweet featured an IAW promotion video that claimed “to raise awareness for Israel’s settler colonial project and its apartheid policies” [0:19] against  Palestinians who are being “targeted and cleansed by the state of Israel” [1:25], an “apartheid regime” [1:31].

Young Communist League (YCL) activist Aparajito Singh, working in tandem with Mac SPHR, created buttons for IAW 2017 featuring the PFLP logo, PFLP terrorist Leila Khaled as well as Ghassan Kanafani, a leading member and spokesperson of the PFLP in its early years.

Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was personally linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people.

SPHR Mac denied Jewish indigeneity to Israel and hosted speakers who accused Jews of “settler colonialism.”

On March 16, 2017, Mac SPHR hosted an event, titled “From Intifada to Liberation - Defeating Colonialism & Imperialism.” Since the early 2000’s, the term “intifada” has carried the connotation of militant violence. In 2017, violent intifada that erupted two years earlier continued in Israel.

On March 8, 2017, Mac SPHR co-hosted the event “Israeli Apartheid Week: The Lab.” The Facebook event page elaborated that: “Since 9/11, the Israeli arms industries are doing bigger business than ever before. Large Israeli companies develop and test the vessels of future warfare, which is then sold worldwide by private Israeli agents, who manipulate a network of Israeli politicians and army commanders, while Israeli theoreticians explain to various foreign countries how to defeat civil and para-military resistance.”

Mac SPHR also hosted IAW in 2016.

On February 7, 2016, Mac SPHR advertised for IAW by posting on Facebook photographs that likened Israel to Jim Crow America.

On March 9, 2016, Mac SPHR hosted the event “Apartheid, Live!” as part of IAW.That event showcased a poster that described Gaza as an “open Air Prison” and referred to Israeli defensive operations as “attacks.” The poster misleadingly employed  raw casualty figures as indicators of moral merit.

The event displayed another poster featuring a graphic composed of a series of maps portraying lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt and Jordan as autonomous “Palestinian land” purportedly stolen by Israel.

In February of 2016, publisher McGraw-Hill Education recalled and destroyed copies of a college level textbook that contained the fraudulent maps. In October 2015, the United States cable news network MSNBC apologized for airing a similar series of maps and retracted them.

The event also featured an installation mischaracterizing Israel’s security fence as an “Apartheid Wall.”

On March 14, 2016, Mac SPHR members posted to Facebook an article written by then-SPHR President Yara Shoufani and 2017 SPHR President Lina Assi, who claimed that IAW aimed to raise “awareness about Israel’s ongoing settler-colonial project and apartheid policies… of racial segregation.”

On March 1, 2015, Mac SPHR hosted David Sheen during Israel Apartheid Week. Sheen is an anti-Israel propagandist who was banned from the German Parliament in November of 2014.

On the same day, Bashore tweeted: “Omg it's almost like pointing out genocide and apartheid, as well as having three seven-foot tall billboards is not enough. Wow. Thanks.”

Bashore also retweeted three SJP KSU tweets from March 20, 21, and 23 promoting IAW and BDS.

Promoting BDS

Bashore retweeted a May 15, 2018 tweet that promoted BDS and accused Israel of “occupation & colonization.”

Bashore retweeted another May 15, 2018 tweet that called for a “full support” of BDS efforts.

SJP KSU - Supporting Terrorists

On May 6, 2017, SJP KSU posted a Facebook video of its activists leading a “#SaltWaterChallenge” on campus “in solidarity with the 1500+ Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike.”

The “Saltwater Challenge” was held in solidarity with over 1,000 Palestinian prisoners hunger-striking in Israeli prisons — most of whom were convicted for acts of terrorism.

The strike was initiated by Marwan Barghouti, who was serving five consecutive life sentences for his role in suicide bombings and shooting attacks during the second intifada. Barghouti led the Palestinian Authority (PA) terrorist Tanzim force and founded the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.

Barghouti also financed the guitar-case bomb used in the Sbarro Cafe massacre, where 15 civilians were killed and 130 injured.

SJP KSU retweeted a May 11, 2017 tweet that said: “Join us at 8527 S. Harlem from 10am to 7pm for #DignityStrikeChi in support of #Palhunger @Addameer @SamidounPP … ”

Addameer’s logo and images of Barghouti and terrorist Ahmad Sa’adat, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), appeared in the tweet’s photos.

Addameer organizes and promotes campaigns on behalf of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons and has advocated for theBoycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Addammer is reportedly an “affiliate” of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a terror organization. In September 2019, Israeli forces raided the officers of Addammeer, seizing laptops and memory cards.

SJP KSU also retweeted a May 11, 2017 tweet supporting the “#DignityStrike.”

The 2017 hunger strike by Palestinian prisoners known as the “Dignity Strike” was initiated by Marwan Barghouti, who was serving five consecutive life sentences for his role in terror attacks during the Second Intifada, including financing the bombing of the Sbarro Cafe in Jerusalem.

SJP KSU - Promoting Violence and Spreading Hatred

Four leading SJP KSU activists have supported terrorism, spread hatred of Israel and promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

On January 6, 2018, Subhi Husien — a 2017-2018 SJP KSU activist — tweeted: “BDS is important for weakening the Zionist entity but violent revolution will be the only solution to gain liberation.”

As of January 2018, Lama Abu Amara — an SJP KSU activist in 2017-2018 — wrote in her Twitter profile: “Globalize the Intifada 🇵🇸🇺🇸 Decolonize Palestine.”

The term “intifada” has carried the connotation of violence, since the early 2000’s.

On August 2, 2014, Abu Amara tweeted: “‘Never again.’-The Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto. Never again for them, but their descendants think otherwise. #BoycottIsrael #SupportGaza #Gaza.”

On July 12, 2017, Yousef Mousa — a former SJP KSU president — posted a Facebook graphic paraphrasing a quote [00:00:23] by PFLP spokesman Ghassan Kanafani rejecting negotiations as a path to peace.

On December 23, 2017, SJP KSU activist Chance Zurub — the 2018 SJP KSU president — tweeted: “The only Israeli food that they [Israelis] eat is the blood of the Palestinian people.”

SJP KSU - Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theory

On October 24, 2016, SJP KSU tweeted an image of a hand controlling a brain via puppet strings, captioned: “ISRAEL PUBLIC RELATION’S WAR IN THE UNITED STATES.”

The tweet promoted SJP KSU’s October 27, 2016 screening of the anti-Israel film “The Occupation of the American Mind.”

SJP KSU - Demonizing Israel

On May 8, 2017, SJP KSU claimed on Facebook that “Israel’s colonial domination over Palestinians” obligated it to adopt BDS. SJP KSU also wrote that it will boycott “any event that morally or politically equates the oppressor and oppressed, and presents the relationship between Palestinians and Israelis as symmetrical.”

On May 10, 2017, SJP KSU tweeted: “Reality: Israel is an illegitimate state that uses systematic war and apartheid to ethnically cleanse an entire population.”

On May 28, 2017, SJP KSU tweeted: “Israel continues ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian pop. as American college students take ‘birthright’ trips, complicit in Israel's crimes.”

Birthright Israel is a free trip to Israel for Jewish young adults from all over the world.

On March 5, 2018, SJP KSU displayed its “mock Israeli apartheid wall” on campus, representing Israel’s security barrier. The wall included a version of debunked anti-Israel propaganda maps. SJP KSU also displayed the “mock Apartheid Wall” in 2017, where it promoted BDS on campus.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
