Asad Ahmed Siddiqui

On May 21, 2024, during Israel's war against Hamas terrorists, Siddiqui was reportedly arrested along with three other anti-Israel agitators at U-M Ann Arbor's anti-Israel campus encampment.

WXYZ reported that Siddiqui was charged with one count of "assaulting/resisting/obstructing" a police officer and one count of "trespass."

In an interview with ABC 7 Detroit, referring to the encampment, Siddiqui said: "I hope the community can stand up like this every single day..."

Activists at the encampment, which was organized by the TAHRIR Coalition, spread hatred of Israel and promoted the BDS movement.

The encampment was one of about 200 anti-Israel college encampments set up in North America, and over 20 globally, in the spring of 2024. The first began on April 17, 2024, at Columbia University. Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities and used anti-Semitic language in their activism. They also promoted BDS and protested Israel’s war against Hamas, launched after Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023.

On April 16, 2025, Siddiqui was featured in a YouTube video from a fundraising event for the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

In the video, Siddiqui called for the "fall" of the "American empire."

The event was co-organized by the pro-terror activist group Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM).

In the video, referring to the U.S., Siddiqui said [00:00:15]: "The message for the people of Gaza is going to be more of the message that should be sent to the people here, in that they have achieved the victory. We haven't done anywhere near enough."

Siddiqui then said [00:00:33]: "Change must come, and in the form that it must come, is that this empire, the American empire, that's been hurting our people since the beginning, the imperial Western powers that have been hurting our people since the beginning, they must fall."

Siddiqui continued [00:00:45]: "And inshallah [God willing], inshallah, they will fall."

Siddiqui concluded [00:00:47]: "And my message to the people of Gaza and the oppressed peoples across the world is that there are people here, both young and old, who are going to be willing to fight and are willing to put their lives and everything they can on the line to bring these empires down, because they must come down."

On November 25, 2023, Siddiqu was featured in an Instagram , in which he said [00:00:04]: "My name is Asad Siddiqui. We are currently in Ann Arbor, on State Street, on one of the biggest game days, Ohio State vs. University of Michigan. What we are doing right now is causing a little bit of disruption, economic and also moral, I guess."

Siddiqui continued [00:00:18], referring to Israel's war against Hamas: "For the people who have been trying to avoid what's happening right now, the genocide that's happening right now in Gaza, in Palestine, funded by our tax dollars, so we are trying to make a bit of a difference."

In the same video, Siddiqui called [00:01:21] Israel an "apartheid illegal state."

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
