Annie Birge
Annie Birge expressed support for terrorism, spread hatred of Israel and engaged in anti-Israel activism.
Annie Birge served as president of Students for Peace and Justice in Palestine (spjpatuva) at the University of Virginia (UVA), an affiliate of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), in 2016-2017, and was a member of spjpatuva since 2015, during her undergraduate studies. UVA is located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
On November 4-6, 2016, Birge attended the 2016 SJP national conference, hosted by the George Mason University Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA).
Birge is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of February 2025, Birge's LinkedIn said she had been working as an acquisitions coordinator at the American Psychiatric Association, located in Washington, D.C., and as a part-time supervisor at S.A.F.E. Management, located in Baltimore, Maryland.
As of February 2025, Birge's LinkedIn said she was an "MPH candidate at University of Maryland in the Public Health Practice and Policy program."
Birge graduated with a bachelor's degree in American Studies with a concentration in race/ethnicity from the University of Virginia in 2017.
As of February 2025, Birge's LinkedIn said she was located in Baltimore, Maryland.
As of February 2025, Birge went by the username "end all US aid to Israel now" and used the handle: "@allblkcfee" on X.
Birge reposted an October 15, 2024 post on X that said: "The Black Panther Party was founded on this day in 1966 by Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton. Pictured here is co-founder of the party Huey P. Newton, with Palestinian resistance fighters outside a refugee camp in Lebanon in 1980..." Birge's repost included a photo of Huey Newton along with two armed males.
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.
Birge reposted an October 17, 2024 post on X that said: "Every American knows the quote by Patrick Henry 'give me liberty or give me death' Sinwar is the example of that."
Yahya (Yehiya) Sinwar masterminded the October 7, 2023 terror attacks on Israel and had been a Hamas leader since the 1980s. Sinwar was nicknamed the “Butcher of Khan Younis” after he admitted to killing 12 suspected Palestinian “collaborators,” and in 1989 was sentenced to four life terms in Israeli prison for crimes including the killing of two Israeli soldiers.
In 2011, Sinwar was released by Israel to Gaza following the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal and resumed his leadership role in Hamas. On October 17, 2024, the Israel Defense Forces eliminated Sinwar in Gaza.
On October 30, 2015, Birge posted on X: “Israel is a rogue, murdering, racist state that must be stopped...”
On October 16, 2015, Birge shared on Facebook a series of maps with the headline “PALESTINIAN LOSS OF LAND 1946 - PRESENT.”
The maps claim that lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt and Jordan as autonomous “Palestinian land” were purportedly stolen by Israel. In February 2016, publisher McGraw-Hill Education recalled copies of a college textbook containing the fraudulent maps. In October 2015, American cable news network MSNBC apologized for airing a similar series of maps and retracted them.
On July 28, 2014, during Israel's Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Birge posted on X: "...It's not so savvy to stand w Israel anymore. The world is over it..." Birge's post was in response to another post from an American Congresswoman who spoke at a pro-Israel rally.
Israel commenced Operation Protective Edge (OPE) in July 2014, to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
On March 20, 2016, Birge promoted the 2016 Israel Apartheid Week at the University of Virginia (UVA). The four-day event included anti-Israel agitators Ramah Kudaimi and Remi Kanazi as speakers.
Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is presented as “an international series of events that seek to raise awareness of…Israel’s settler-colonial project and apartheid system over the Palestinian people” and build support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
On July 27, 2014, during Israel's Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Birge promoted an August 2, 2024, anti-Israel protest which was titled: "National March on the White House: End the Massacre in Gaza!"
Among the co-sponsors of the protest were the anti-Israel organizations American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
SJP is the leading student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses. The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian, who has spread anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campus campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks and pushing the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, and SJP chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for terrorists.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
