Ammer Qaddumi

Ammer Qaddumi is a steering committee member of an anti-Israel student group that organized multiple disruptions in late 2023 on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin).

The incidents occurred in the wake of a series of Hamas terror atrocities and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023.

The Hamas terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Qaddumi was a member of the steering committee of the Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC) in December 2023. PSC is an alternative name for Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

As of January 25, 2024, Qaddumi was listed online as co-director of social affairs for the student group Texas Economics Association (TEA) for the 2023-2024 academic year.

As of January 18, 2024, Qaddumi’s LinkedIn profile said he was studying for a bachelor’s degree in economics at UT Austin. He was slated to graduate in 2025.

On December 6, 2023, Qaddumi reportedly participated in an anti-Israel protest and walkout on the UT Austin campus, where police had to intervene.

During the incident, a group of anti-Israel students “stood up and started chanting” at the beginning of a speaker’s presentation. They reportedly claimed that “the university inviting the speaker to campus was tone-deaf” in light of the war between Israel and Hamas and that the speaker “wasn’t supportive of Palestinians.”

Qaddumi told local media: “We stood up and started chanting and police escorted us out.”

On December 8, 2023, a group of anti-Israel students reportedly staged another disruption, blocking a university official from leaving an office and later holding a protest on the UT Austin campus.

Qaddumi reportedly told the press that 30 to 40 student protesters chanted and gave speeches at a rally outside the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at UT Austin that day.

On December 13, 2023, UT Austin tweeted an official statement in response to the above incidents: “Protesters crossed the line of acceptable behavior and violated University rules multiple times last week…Actions taken toward a University leader…stem from intentionally false narratives and a coordinated disinformation campaign…we will not tolerate harassment, disruption, and dishonesty.”
