Afaf Nasher
Afaf Nasher has defended pro-terror activism and promoted an antisemitic conspiracy theory. She has also spread hatred of Zionists and Israel as the executive director of the New York City chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), known as CAIR-NY.
As of January 2026, Nasher was listed on the CAIR-NY website as its executive director, having served in the position as early as October 2016. She previously served as CAIR-NY's board chair, starting in April 2015.
Nasher is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of January 2026, Nasher was listed as a member of the transition team for New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, serving on the Legal Affairs Committee.
Mamdani has called for dismantling capitalism and promoted hatred of the police. He has also justified Hamas terrorism and glorified terror supporters. On his first day as mayor, he revoked executive orders designed to combat antisemitism, including increased police protection at synagogues, and nullified a ban on city officials to boycott Israel.
