Usha Iyer participated in an anti-Israel event in Palo Alto, California, in April 2024.

The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.

At the April 2024 event, Usha Iyer held a sign that said: "STOP THE GENOCIDE."

As of July 2025, Usha Iyer was listed on the Stanford University (Stanford) as an associate professor of art and art history at Stanford.

The Instagram post promoting the event said that participants would gather to "demand an end to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza backed by our tax dollars."

The event was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The outcome of the movement's goals would result in Israel's destruction. Within hours of the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, the BDS movement renewed its call for an anti-Israel boycott.
