Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany
On May 25, 2021, as a guest on the online show “Perspectives,” Mohammad claimed, referring to the Holocaust [00:20:46]: “there was a structure that allowed this atrocity to happen and that structure was the Nazi structure…and that structure also exists in Palestine, and that structure is a settler colonial structure that dehumanizes the Palestinian, like the Nazis dehumanized our Jewish brothers and sisters.”
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.
Promoting an Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theory
On January 8, 2019, Mohammad tweeted: “How come [U.S. Senator] Marco Rubio is such a Zionist? Does he have a history, or was he drowned with dollars from AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee]?”
The stated mission of AIPAC is to “strengthen, protect and promote the U.S.-Israel relationship in ways that enhance the security of the United States and Israel.”
The stated mission of AIPAC is to “strengthen, protect and promote the U.S.-Israel relationship in ways that enhance the security of the United States and Israel.”
The implication that AIPAC buys political support for Israel has been described as playing into “anti-Semitic tropes” that led to “centuries of stereotypes about Jews using money to control the world.”
On February 13, 2019, Mohammad tweeted: “#ISTANDWITHILHAN because criticising the apartheid state of Israel and the AIPAC is not anti-semitic…Please show some love for #IlhanOmar.”
Ilhan Omar was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018. In February 2019, top Congressional leaders denounced Omar for tweeting anti-Semitic remarks.
On March 5, 2019, Mohammad tweeted: "It is ok to criticize Israel. Israel is not almighty God. Unless-of course- you are a money worshiping politician, then yes.. and AIPAC - then- is your ‘profit."
Supporting a Terrorist
On December 4, 2020, Mohammad posted to Facebook, promoting a panel event on Ghassan Kanafani and James Baldwin. The flyer for the event said it would “touch on…how far ahead of their time they were, their moral fortitude, dignity…”Mohammad wrote about the event: “A valuable panel to make room for, in your schedule today…”
Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.
Also, on December 4, 2020, Mohammad posted to Facebook a quote by Kanafani that said: “‘Everything in this world can be robbed and stolen, except one thing; this one thing is the love that emanates from a human being towards a solid commitment to a conviction or cause.’”
Glorifying Violent Protesters
On March 30, 2018, Mohammad tweeted, referring to Palestinians killed during the “March of Return” riots on the Israel-Gaza border: “I hope that would do not fall in the trap of internalized racism, by assimilating to the zionist narrative of why Palestinians are getting killed in Gaza today. Let us stop blaming our martyrs and our victims…”On March 30, 2018, about 30,000 Gazans approached Israel’s border fence to join in “Land Day Protests,” which were also called the “March of Return.” The march was organized and funded by Hamas as a campaign of violent protests to spotlight the “right of return,” a policy discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.
Most of the Gazans who died between March 30 and April 6, 2018, were identified as terror operatives who were killed while carrying out terrorist attacks, rioting against IDF forces or attempting to breach the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
On May 21, 2018, Mohammad tweeted: “...in the northern hemisphere, eyes are also blind to Palestinian suffering and Israeli state terrorism.”
