Maryam Mushtaq

Maryam Mushtaq [Maryam A Mushtaq] signed a May 2026 letter that demonized the Jewish student group Hillel and its members, spread hatred of Israel and promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement at The New School (TNS) in New York, New York. Mushtaq has participated in other anti-Israel activism.

The profilee's activism occurred during an extended period of global antisemitism that began with the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas.

Hillel International is a Jewish campus organization serving college students at 850 universities worldwide.

The letter Maryam Mushtaq signed [no. 17] claimed that Hillel at TNS and its members aided Israel in an alleged “genocide” in its war against Hamas, and that The New School should cut all funding for Hillel at TNS.

The letter used the terms “Israel Occupation Forces” and “IOF” in place of the Israeli army's real name, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). "IOF" is used to allege that Israel’s existence is illegitimate by accusing Israeli Jews of occupying and colonizing the entire land.

As of May 2026, Maryam Mushtaq was listed on The New School website as a teaching fellow in history at the university.

In Spring 2026, Maryam Mushtaq said on the website of the ACT-UAW Local 7902 labor union, that she "served on the 7902 Joint Council for the past two years." The union is for adjunct professors, student educators and healthcare workers at The New School, as well as adjunct professors New York University (NYU). On the website, she used a photo of herself holding a sign that said: "UAW LABOR FOR PALESTINE."

In February 2023, Maryam Mushtaq was reportedly Turkish and a "second-year graduate sociology student" at The New School.
