Alex Finn Macartney

Alex Finn Macartney signed an open letter in April 2024 that spread hatred of Israel and promoted activism in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The letter claimed Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists was a “genocidal campaign.”

The profilee's activism occurred during an extended period of global antisemitism that began with the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas.

The April 2024 letter Alex Finn Macartney signed was in support of the anti-Israel and pro-BDS encampment at The George Washington University (GW) in Washington, D.C., where students and outside activists reportedly called for Israel’s destruction. Local media said 33 protesters were arrested, at least six of whom were GW students. GW suspended seven students.

Nearly 200 anti-Israel college encampments were set up in North America in spring 2024. Activists harassed Jews with antisemitic slurs, expressed their support [00:02:45] for Hamas terrorism and called [00:04:45] for Israel's destruction. They blocked Jews from campus facilities and limited access to those with special wristbands or who said they weren't a Zionist.

As of May 2026, Alex Finn Macartney's LinkedIn said he had been the associate director of the FAO (foreign area officer) Initiative and assistant professor of the practice of international affairs at GW's Elliott School of International Affairs from August 2022 to July 2025.

Also as of May 2026, Alex Finn Macartney's LinkedIn said he was a resident ethics fellow at the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership, United States Naval Academy (USNA), and an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University (GU) Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS).

USNA is located in Annapolis, Maryland. GU is located in Washington, D.C.
