Yousef Abedrabo
Overview
Yousef Abedrabo has demonized Israel, spread hatred of Israel supporters, promoted an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.In 2019 through to 2021, Abedrabo indicated on Twitter that he was a student at “MSU [Montclair State University].”
As of November 2021, Abedrabo used the alias “LowkeyYousef” on Twitter, as well as on Instagram and indicated that he was located in Clifton, New Jersey.
Abedrabo also spread anti-Semitism on Twitter while in high school.
Demonizing Israel
On June 28, 2020, Abdedrabo tweeted: “Israel is stealing and occupying Palestinian terrirories as well as murdering innocent lives every single day, instilling fear in everyone and killing anyone from kids to adults, kicking people out of their homes and land…”Abedrabo retweeted a September 29, 2020 tweet that read: “Killing Palestine childs?”
The tweet was responding to a tweet that read: “what is Israel famous for?”
On December 26, 2020, Abedrabo tweeted: “we don’t hate her bc [because] she’s from Israel, we hate her bc [because] she’s a proud IDF [Israel Defense Forces] soldier who kills innocent people including children.”
Abedrabo was responding to a meme that said: “People who hate Gal Gadot because she is Israeli” was due to “Xenophobia.”
Gal Gadot is an Israeli Actress who starred in the Hollywood movie, Wonder Woman.
During Israel’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls(OGW)” against Hamas in Gaza, Abedrabo retweeted a May 12, 2021 tweet hat read: “y’all will see colonialism, ethnic cleaning, genocide, illegal settlement, and apartheid happening in real life and be like well this is complicated and we need to be neutral
.”Abedrabo retweeted a May 20, 2021 tweet, following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, that read: “please understand that ceasefire doesn't mean that this is the end of this genocide, illegal occupation, colonisation and ethnic cleansing.”
Hatred of Israel Supporters
On April 28, 2020, Abderabo tweeted: “if you support Israel or the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] please block me this s**t isn’t a joke.”On May 16, 2021, during Israel’s OGW against Hamas in Gaza, Abedrabo tweeted: “Israel is not oppressed man these dumb mfs [motherf**kers] wanna play victim so bad.”
Abedrabo was responding to a tweet that featured a video of a “Pro-Peace, Pro-Israel Rally at the Federal Building in Los Angeles.”
Abedrabo retweeted a May 23, 2021 tweet that read: “A very LARGE number of anti-Palestine/pro-Israel support stems purely from islamophobia. Let’s talk about THAT.”
Spreading an Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theory
Invoking the Deadly Exchange, Abderabo retweeted an April 20, 2021 tweet that read:“...Rot in hell IDF [Israel Defense Forces] soldiers who taught American pigs to kneel on necks after doing the same to Palestinian kids…”In 2017, JVP launched the “Deadly Exchange” (DX) campaign, accusing American Jewish organizations of promoting human rights abuses by coordinating exchange programs between American and Israeli security personnel to advance “worst practices" and racist policies. The campaign blamed [00:04:04] Jewish organizations for violence against Black and Brown communities, immigrants and activists in the U.S.
Supporting BDS
Abedrabo retweeted a May 8, 2021 tweet that featured a photo of a protester holding up a sign that read: “BOYCOTT ISRAEL NOW.”High School Anti-Semitism
On April 9, 2016, Abdedrabo tweeted: “...why do Jews watch porn backwards?”Abderabo responded on the same thread: “...they like to see the prostitutes give the money back.”
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
