Overview

Yasin Shuman [Yasin Awni Shuman] has glorified a Palestinian suicide bomber and expressed support for terrorists.

Shuman has also defended an inciter to violence, spread hatred of Israel and promoted anti-Israel conspiracy theories.

He is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of June 2019, Shuman’s LinkedIn page said he was a Software Developer & Founder at Cashey from Nov 2018— Present.”

As of June 2019, Shuman’s LinkedIn page also said he was the “Founder” of Buzzy from “Sep 2017 — Mar 2019” a “Blockchain Developer” at Pulse Agent in San Francisco, CA from “Sep 2018 — Oct 2018” and the “Founder” of Loyal Loops, Inc from “Jan 2015 —Present.”

Glorifying a Suicide Bomber

On May 21, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “#palestinianwomenbreaktheinternet ain’t just about looks. This is Ayat alakhras. If I ever have a daughter I’m naming her after this hero.”

Shuman’s tweet featured a photo of Ayat al-Akhras, the third and youngest Palestinian female suicide bomber, who blew herself up in a supermarket in Jerusalem, killing two people in 2002 during the second intifada.

Before the attack al-Akhras reportedly said: “I'm not afraid. I want to kill people.”

The second intifada (2000-2005) was characterized by more than 120 suicide bombings targeting Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes.

Expressing Support for Terrorists

On April 15, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “#freepalestine.” The tweet featured a poster with a caption that read: “Glory to the Martyr BASIL AL-ARAJ”

Basel Al Araj was killed in a shoot-out with Israeli troops during an arrest raid. He had been suspected of belonging to a terror cell planning to carry out attacks on Israeli targets. Two M-16 assault rifles and an improvised Carlo-style submachine gun were found inside his home.

On February 26, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “Letter from Gaza by #ghassan #kanafani read by John Berger.”

Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.

Defending an Inciter to Violence

On March 26, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “free #dareentatour whose only crime was writing a poem. #freepalestine #BDS until #israeliapartheid ends.”

In October 2015, Tatour was placed under house arrest for incitement to violence and for support of a terrorist organization on social media. Tatour had supported the terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and posted to Facebook: “I am the next shahid [martyr].”

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On August 20, 2018, Shuman tweeted: “the ‘left’ in israel is still alt-right and racist af.”

On August 19, 2018, Shuman tweeted: “No because he is a zionist. Anyone that supports apartheid and the ethnic cleansing of indigenous people will never get my support.”

Shuman was responding to a tweet that read: “Sen. Cory Booker, 49, (D-NJ) is said to be eyeing the Presidency. He’s a Rhodes scholar, has a master’s from Stanford and a Yale law degree. He’s said to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal but supports single payer and raising the minimum wage. Would you vote Booker?”

On July 24, 2018, Shuman tweeted; ‘@Ocasio2018 please dont kowtow to zionists. There's nothing complicated about colonization and ethnic cleansing.”

On June 21, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “The state. Google it, Israel isn’t just horrible to Palestinians ashkenazi Jews look down upon Sephardic ones too.”

On June 13, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “f**k israel,” in response to a tweet that read: “Welcome to Occupied Palestine ,where terrorizing kids is legal.”

On June 11, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “Israel & Zionism are stuck in the racist past the rest of the world abandoned. #israel #eugenics.”

On the same day, Shuman tweeted: “I call for the dismantling of Israel.”

On June 10, 2017, in response to a tweet that read: “The siege of Gaza is not legal and must end Standing with Gaza.” Shuman tweeted: “All of Israel isn’t legal. #freepalestine #decolonize.”

On May 31, 2017, in response to a tweet by Al Jazeera, that read: “Lebanon calls for ban of Wonder Woman 2017 movie, because its lead actress is an Israeli.” Shuman tweeted: “Not bc she’s Israeli its because she’s a Zionist who supports the occupation of Palestine and Israeli apartheid.”

On May 22, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “Katy perry supports apartheid Israel so f**k her.”

On May 8, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “I like to get my f**k you’s out of the way early.... so dont @ me about your fake a** ideals if you exempt regimes like apartheid israel”

Shuman continued: “@BernieSanders used common zionist tactic of deflecting to US supported monsters like the Saudis when asked why he opposes #bds.”

On May 9, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “f**k israel, f**k you if you support this oppressive regime, f**k @BernieSanders and the rest of the Progressive except Palestine hypocrites.”

Shuman’s tweet was in response to one that read: “Fatima Hjeiji ‘ Palestinian, 16 years old , was murdered and executed in cold blood by Zionists yesterday in Jerusalem city #Palestine RIP…”

Fatima Hajiji was shot on May 7, 2017, after attempting to stab Israeli Police officers at Old City of Jerusalem’s Damascus Gate.

On May 7, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “They kill our children with no remorse. F**k Israel f**k Israel f**k Israel.” The comment was in response to a tweet that read: “The #Palestinian girl who was Executed by #Israeli Occupiers shortly ago has been identified as 16-year-old Fatima AbdelRahman Hjeiji.

On March 19, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “The question is not whether the term ‘apartheid’ applies to Israel; it does.”

On March 17, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “There is no difference between Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the rest of the GCC and israel. All trash.”

Anti-Zionist Conspiracy Theories

On March 12, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “If Russia had PACs as strong as AIPAC they could dictate US policy and be paid 38 billion for it like Israel.”

On March 10, 2017, in response to a tweet that read: “Trump to speak with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas today for the first time.” Shuman tweeted: “2 zionist puppets chat about their shared interest authoritarianism.”

On March 7, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “Everyone is so hung up on Russian ‘interference’ but never bat an eye over Israel doing much much more.”

Support for BDS

On August 31, 2018, Shuman tweeted: “I’m happy @LanaDelRey isn’t going to perform in apartheid Israel but why blame it on the logistics of not being able to book a show for Israelis and a show for Palestinians.”

Shuman added: “How are people lauding her for her ‘principled stand’ when she won’t come or and say ‘I won’t help whitewash oppression.’”

On August 20, 2018, Shuman tweeted to the artist Lana Del Rey who canceled her scheduled performance in Israel after pressure from BDS activists: “When you perform in apartheid israel, you send a message that you dont care about the indigenous, you dont care about ethnic cleansing and apartheid. When you are silent you stand with the oppressors. Youre more than silent you are actively ignoring the call for peaceful boycott”

On July 11, 2018, Shuman tweeted to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein: “Today is the anniversary of the 1948 Lod massacre where zionists massacred 450 men, women and children. 70 yrs on we are still the victims of this racist deadly ideology. When will you withdraw support and push for sanctions senator? I'm a constituent of yours, why dont I matter?”

On June 4, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “To hell with @GalGadot and the @IDFSpokesperson #freepalestine boycott the racists #bds until freedom for all.”

On March 22, 2017, Shuman tweeted: “he's a f**kboy. Sold his soul to Sabra #BDS.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
