Thomas Kinservik

Overview

Thomas Kinservik spread hatred of America and Israel at Yale University (Yale) during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists in April 2024, when he led anti-Israel chants and cheered on other anti-Israel activists as they took down an American flag in celebration.

Kinservik is a supporter [00:01:24] of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of April 2024, Kinservik’s LinkedIn profile said he had been studying for a bachelor’s degree in history at Yale and was slated to graduate in 2024.

As of the same date, Kinservik’s LinkedIn said he had been working part-time as a gallery guide at the Yale Center For British Art since September 2022. Yale is located in New Haven, Connecticut.

Kinservik’s activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, launched after Hamas terror atrocities and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded.

Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron,” which was going on when Kinservik spread hatred of America and Israel. For more information on the October 7, 2023 terror attacks, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

4/20/2024 - Spreading Hatred of America and Israel at Yale

On April 20, 2024, Kinservik participated in at least two anti-Israel events on the Yale campus, where he spread hatred of America and Israel.

On the night of April 20, 2024, Kinservik was featured [00:00:01] in a video alongside a group of anti-Israel activists as an American flag was lowered from a large flagpole. He cheered [00:00:04] them on and raised his left arm in celebration. Around his neck, he wore a keffiyeh, a common item worn by anti-Israel activists.

As the flag was being taken down, activists chanted [00:00:01]: “Viva, viva Palestina [Long Live Palestine]!”

Earlier, during the day of April 20, 2024, Kinservik participated [00:01:56] in a “Liberated Zone” encampment protest on the Yale campus. He was featured in a video wearing a keffiyeh and holding a megaphone.

Kinservik led multiple chants during a campus march, including one promoting [00:01:31] BDS. He led another chant [00:01:51]: “Up, up with liberation! Down, down with occupation!”

Yale activists organized their protest in solidarity with Columbia University (Columbia) protesters who had set up a “Gaza Solidarity Encampment” on their campus. Dozens of Columbia student protesters were arrested by the New York Police Department (NYPD) and suspended by the university on April 18, 2024.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
