Tanji Curtis
Overview
Tanji Curtis has spread anti-Jewish conspiracy theories and anti-Semitism. He has also promoted hatred of Israel and homophobia on Twitter.Curtis has self-identified as a “tru” and “original” Hebrew, in reference to the Black Hebrew Israelites, an African American group whose members claim to be the true descendants of the ancient biblical Hebrews.
As of June 2020, Curtis’s LinkedIn page said he was a student at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), in Pittsburgh, from “2015 - 2018.”
In September 2018, Curtis indicated on Twitter that he was a “student” and wrote he was “speaking with a professor at Pitt university” and “trying to put together a curriculum that incorporates social work and true Afrikana Studies.”
Curtis has indicated on both Twitter and Facebook, in 2017 and 2018, that he was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Anti-Jewish Conspiracy Theories
On October 8, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “Crazy because many don’t know but hitler said the same thing. He knew the khazars were not real Hebrews.”Curtis’s tweet referred to the claim that Hitler said African Americans were the real Jews, a hoax which was exposed by the fact-checking website, Snopes.com.
A 2015 version of the hoax, published on the website FMLGoneViral.com, claimed that Hitler once said: “America has stolen the jews. The Jews of God. His jewelry. The negros. They are the true hebrews...”
On September 23, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “Hitler knew who the true Hebrews were and are. And the people he was dealing with were not and are not them!”
On October 8, 2017, Curtis tweeted: “Khazars assimilated 2 Judaism. Not real hebrews & hitler knew it. We r the tru Hebrews if u go by the bible. No have perished as we!”
The “Khazar myth” refers to the assertion that Ashkenazi Jews are not descended from the ancient Israelites but instead come from the Khazar People, whose ruling class was said to have converted to Judaism. One way anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is to promote the Khazar myth to deny [00:02:16] Israel’s legitimacy through the denial of Jewish ancestry and Jews’ connection to the Land of Israel.
On October 1, 2017, Curtis tweeted: “Fake Jews with falsified info about their holocaust. Hitler knew truth.”
On August 12, 2017, Curtis tweeted: “Hitler knew truth also. Like the false understanding of the Jews.”
On June 18, 2017, Curtis tweeted: “the WORLD needs to be indoctrinated with truth instead of white supremacy. And they got mad at hitler 4 what?”
Anti-Semitism
On October 21, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “I keep preaching this. They [Jews] are khazars. They assimilated and got help from the world government to steal land.”On October 5, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “Is the Jews history unique? Are they jews? Study their true history. How can one be as pale as Elmer’s glues d be Hebrews? Another one pulled over our eyes.”
On October 1, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “Khazars. This fake Jew propaganda sickens me.”
On the same day, Curtis tweeted: “We need to understand the farce of the so-called Jews/khazars.”
On January 8, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “They aren't original Jews! So what do you expect from Satan's synagogue?”
Curtis’s tweet was in response to a tweet that read: “By April 2018, Israel plans to force out about 60,000 African immigrants (Aljazeera).”
On January 5, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “The so called Jews that currently occupy are not Hebrews. They are khazars. Synagogue of Satan if I may.”
On August 23, 2017, Curtis tweeted: “khazars they are. They need 2 go back 2 their cold a** European climate where they belong. Aint no tru jew white.”
On August 2, 2017, Curtis tweeted: “khazars that believe their own lie & have the world believing it. Thats true Power.”
Spreading Hatred of Israel
On October 6, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “Israel is occupied by khazars. The khazar history is something to be studied. Thank.”On October 5, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “The pale people occupying Israel R not Hebrews. Khazars yes. Why do white peoples steal everything? This world is a** backwards.”
On October 2, 2018, Curtis tweeted: “This Zionism bulls**t is 4 the birds. You false khazar Jews stole land now cry when the true inhabitants fight back. Wtf?”
Curtis’s tweet was in response to a tweet by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) about violent riots, instigated by Hamas on the Israeli-Gaza border.
The violent riots continued until the end of 2018, accompanied by military-style attacks carried out by Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and other terror organizations. The attacks included gunfire, armed rioters penetrating Israeli territory, throwing IEDs and hand grenades and launching incendiary kites into Israel.
Curtis continued: “still mad at Hitler 4 exposing truth. So sad.”
Curtis added: “exactly. However there is more 2 that story, as usual. Hitler knew truth.”
Homophobia
On August 4, 2017, Curtis tweeted: “we know this is a sickness that is not new. Rome,Greece,Sparta all homos. So what shall we expect?”On August 3, 2017, Curtis tweeted: “white supremacy is pushing the gay s**t as if it is a fad.”
On the same day, Curtis tweeted: “look y'all over here it is madness. Many black women r gay as well. Its like a sickness.”
