Spreading Anti-Semitism

On January 7, 2019, Suleiman tweeted to U.S. Senator Marco Rubio with a hashtag labeling him as “#IsraelFirst.”

The term “Israel-Firster” is an anti-Semitic slur used against Jews to accuse them of dual loyalty. The term also applies to non-Jews to allege they are more loyal to Israel than to their own countries.

Suleiman’s full tweet read: “Instead of working on getting the government up again so govt workers can get paid @marcorubio is doing @AmbDermer job as Israeli ambassador, whose sole purpose is to make sure America gives as much $$$ to Israel as possible #IsraelFirst.”

On February 25, 2017, Suleiman tweeted about prominent Jewish-American lawyer Alan Dershowitz: “he is an Israel Firster anyway. He has no business dictating American politics.”

On October 13, 2015, Suleiman tweeted: “Tell me again occupied Palestine is not 1936 Nazi Europe.”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

On July 4, 2014, Suleiman tweeted: “It's about time we as Americans declared our independence from the oppressive state of Israel.”

The assertion that Jews secretly control the Western governments through banking and finance is traced to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a fabricated anti-Semitic text that portrays wealthy Jews as conspiring to take over the world. This anti-Semitic conspiracy theory has often employed the imagery from Nazi cartoons that depict Jews as octopuses encircling the globe.

On September 21, 2013, Suleiman tweeted: “@48Refugee ‘ya3ni el amreekan bestahalo. Kul floosehum beroo7 lal yahood anyway ya zalame’ [it means the Americans deserve it. All their money goes to the Jews anyway, man].”

Suleiman’s tweet was in response to another tweet that said: “You're not an Arab until a family member has asked you for a favor that involves committing fraud.”

Glorifying a Terrorist

On September 27, 2013, Suleiman tweeted a picture of Ghassan Kanafani, with the comment: “These boys today need to take notes #hottiepalestinian#intellectualsaresexy #thoseeyesdoe #ghassankanafani.”

Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.

Promoting Incitement

On May 10, 2021, Suleiman tweeted to U.S. Congressman Ritchie Torres: “Where was your condemnation of Israel as they've been constantly attacking 3rd holiest site to Muslims?”

In May 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound following claims the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The subsequent incitement was a leading factor in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel later that month. Israel responded by launching “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza. Allegations of Jews “threatening” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque have been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews predating the State of Israel.

Suleiman retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet featuring a photo of clashes on the Temple Mount between Palestinians and Israeli security personnel that said: “... This is ethnic cleansing enabled by an apartheid government, funded by the American government, and enabled by cowardly governments in the Middle East. State sanctioned terror that sees people being thrown out of their homes…”

In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

On June 26, 2015, Suleiman tweeted: “Seriouslykilling Muslims during Ramadan is Israel's specialty. I've never been one to entertainconspiracy theories but this is too much.”

In June 2015, Israel restricted the entry of Gazans into Jerusalem during the month of Ramadan, which led to an uptick in Palestinian terrorism. Israel imposed the restrictions following a series of rocket attacks from Gaza, which violated a 2014 truce between Israel and Hamas.

Hatred of Zionists

On October 18, 2020, Suleiman tweeted: “I just discovered that Sadaf foods are owned by Iranian Zionists😳You can't trust anything anymore.”

On February 18, 2015, Suleiman tweeted about basketball player Amar’e Stoudemire, who played for the Dallas Mavericks: “@ManalHadi @Amareisreal @dallasmavs ugh I can't support the Mavs. Amare is super Zionist.”

On November 2, 2014, Suleiman tweeted that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a pro-Israel lobby, is a group of “evil Zionists.”

The stated mission of AIPAC is to “strengthen, protect and promote the U.S.-Israel relationship in ways that enhance the security of the United States and Israel.”

Hatred of Israel Supporters

On January 12, 2021, Suleiman tweeted about the death of pro-Israel billionaire Sheldon Adelson: “May America's unwavering financial and military support of Apartheid Israel die with him.”

On February 26, 2017, Suleiman tweeted: “Nothing ruins a nice interfaith event quite like hearing an entitled American kid talk about their excitement over their Birthright trip😣.”

Birthright Israel is a heritage trip to Israel for Jewish young adults from across the world.

Suleiman retweeted a June 27, 2016 tweet that said: “Birthright trip becomes an accredited college course (Boozing and Jewish Supremacy 101?).”

On December 30, 2014, Suleiman tweeted: “America: defending rapists (Israel) vs. their victims (Palestine) since 1967.”

Demonizing Israel

Suleiman retweeted a February 7, 2021 tweet that said: “This week ‘Medical Apartheid’ with @ronnie_barkan.” The post included a Facebook video accusing Israel of “medical apartheid” during the coronavirus pandemic.

All Israel's citizens, including Arabs, were provided equal and free access to a coronavirus vaccine.

Under the Oslo Accords [p. 5], the Palestinian Authority (PA) is responsible for providing health services to Palestinians under its jurisdiction. In December 2020, PA officials reportedly contacted Israel’s Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) department to request the vaccine, which Israel agreed to provide.

Suleiman retweeted a May 15, 2020 tweet that said: “Today, Palestinians around the world commemorate the Nakba (النكبة), Arabic for ‘catastrophe’ recognizing the ethnic cleansing of indigenous Palestine...”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.

On April 11, 2018, Suleiman tweeted: “Just had a colleague on the phone that was trying to spell a patient's name to me and he used ‘I, as in Israel’ and when I spelled it back to him I said: ‘I, as in illegaloccupier?’ Don'tever try me bruh #PalestinianDoctorUMad?”

On July 7, 2015, Suleiman tweeted: “So @Snapchat is glorifying Apartheid in Israel now? SMDH [shaking my damn head].”

On July 19, 2014, Suleiman tweeted during Israel’s "Operation Protective Edge (OPE)" against Hamas in Gaza: “Inhumane ‘@intifada: ‘Red Cross is cooperating with [Israel] to destroy’ Wafa rehabilitation hospital in #Gaza..."

During OPE, the IDF targeted sections of Gaza’s Al-Wafa hospital, which Hamas used as a command center.

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

Endorsing an Anti-Israel Agitator

On August 16, 2019, Suleiman tweeted: “Rep. Omar came with the receipts.
The real conversation we should be having is ending our welfare check that MY TAX DOLLARS is paying for that we so readily give every year to Israel
#EndWelfareChecksToIsrael.”

Ilhan Omar was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018. In February 2019, top Congressional leaders denounced Omar for tweeting anti-Semitic remarks.Omar has demonized Israel and endorsed BDS. In July 2019, Omar introduced a pro-BDS resolution in the U.S. Congress, which she described as “an opportunity for us to explain why it is we support…the BDS movement.”

Suleiman retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet by U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar during Israel’s OGW against Hamas in Gaza, accusing Israel of “terrorism.”

Supporting BDS

On June 16, 2015, Suleiman tweeted: “Please spread the word about Israeli settlementdates and why we should boycott them @omarsuleiman504.”

On the same day, Suleiman promoted an American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) BDS campaign, tweeting: “Boycott Israeli dates this Ramadan http://www.ampalestine.org/index.php/newsroom/press-releases/647-amp-announces-date-boycott-to-coincide-with-ramadan … #bds #ramadan☪️.”

On February 18, 2014, Suleiman tweeted a link to a video by anti-Israel activist Remi Kanazi reading his piece “This Divestment Bill Hurts My Feelings,” which mocked the distress caused to students by BDS campaigns.

On March 11, 2012, Suleiman tweeted: “Small sample of our audience at the #BDS event tonight. Almost 400 at the Angelika [film center]!”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
