Shehran Uddin

Overview

Shehran Uddin has expressed support for terrorists and spread hatred of Zionists and Israel

Uddin founded the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter at Stony Brook University (Stony Brook SJP). During the 2017-2018 academic year, he was reportedly the group’s “President and Founder.” Uddin served on the executive board of Stony Brook SJP in the 2015-2016 academic year and was a leader with the group in the 2016-2017 academic year.

Uddin attended the National SJP (NSJP) Conference in November 2016.

Uddin is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Uddin was a member of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) at Stony Brook during the 2015-2016 academic year.

As of July 2023, Uddin’s LinkedIn profile said he received a JD from the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law (CUNY Law) in 2023. He also graduated from Stony Brook with a bachelor’s degree in political science and government in 2018.

As of the same date, Uddin’s LinkedIn said he had worked as a legal intern for Neighborhood Defender Service in New York, New York from June to August 2022.

As of July 2023, Uddin’s LinkedIn said he was located in Brooklyn, New York.
Also as of July 2023, Uddin went by the username “Shehru” and the handle “@SUddin_10” on Twitter.

Terror Support (PFLP)

Uddin retweeted a March 8, 2023 tweet supporting the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terror group. The tweet said: “Back cover of the 49th issue of the PFLP Bulletin. By Jihad Mansour (1981).” The tweet featured a graphic of a woman with a rifle over her right shoulder.

The PFLP is dedicated to the violent destruction of Israel. It is designated as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) by the United States. The EU, Canada, the Gulf Cooperation Council, Australia and Israel also list it as a terror group due to its history of carrying out assassinations, suicide bombings, hijackings and multiple murders.

Uddin retweeted a February 23, 2023, tweet that said: “In the wake of the army’s deadly raid in Nablus, the Lion’s Den called on Palestinians to confront the Israeli occupation at midnight tonight. Palestinians right now are heeding the call, taking to the streets in Ramallah, Hebron, Bethlehem, Gaza, Jerusalem, Nablus & more.”

The “Lions’ Den” [عرين الأسود]is an independent “armed group” with operatives hailing from various other Palestinian terrorist organizations. The group reportedly emerged from Nablus in August 2022. The Lions’ Den has claimed responsibility for the death of Israeli soldiers. They also targeted Israeli civilians in multiple terror attacks in October and November 2022.

Uddin retweeted a December 3, 2022 tweet from the anti-Israel organization Within Our Lifetime (WOL), that said: “Honor The Martyrs Of Palestine - This past week in the span of just 4 days, 10 Palestinians were martyred. WOL joins Palestinians around the world in rage, indignation and mourning, and the families of the martyrs in honoring their memories. #FreePalestine #WithinOurLifetime.”

The retweet included a photo that featured terrorists Mohammed Ayman Saadi, a leader in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and Na’im Zubeidi, a member of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) is a terror group “whose objective is the destruction of the State of Israel and the establishment of a sovereign, Islamic Palestinian state.” PIJ is backed by Iran and has killed dozens of Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade is the armed wing of Fatah, the main group in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The Brigade has been listed as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) by the U.S. State Department since March 2002 and was responsible for multiple suicide bombings [00:13:37] during the second intifada, in 2002-2004.

Hatred of Zionists

On June 8, 2022, Uddin tweeted: “ZIONISM HAS NO PLACE IN CUNY. / ATTEMPTS TO SILENCE US ONLY / MAKE US STRONGER. / #ZIONISMOUTOFCUNY…”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

On May 11, 2021, Uddin tweeted: “Liberation by any means necessary🇵🇸✊🏽I know with all my heart that one day Palestine will be free and Zionism, as well as all other fascist ideologies, will cease to exist…”

Uddin wrote his tweet during Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW) against terrorists in Gaza.

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

On February 25, 2020, Uddin tweeted: “Nazis, Zionists, White Nationalists and BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] proponents share the same fascist ideologies and all deserve the same fate...💀💀.”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

On March 8, 2019, Uddin tweeted: “Just a reminder, f**k Zionism and f**k every Zionist.”

Uddin’s tweet included a tweet from anti-Israel news network AJ Plus (AJ+) that featured a video of U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Ilhan Omar was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018. In February 2019, top Congressional leaders denounced Omar for tweeting anti-Semitic remarks.

On May 5, 2018, Uddin was quoted in an article published in the Stony Brook student newspaper, “The Statesmen,” and titled: “SJP issues critique of Interfaith Center and SBU Muslim Chaplain.”

Uddin was quoted in the article as saying: “Everything that we do is in accordance to every other student movement and every other activist group that has come throughout history…You don’t work with your oppressors to defeat them and you can’t because it’s not in their interest to drop their Zionist agenda.”

On May 2, 2018, while Uddin was Stony Brook SJP president, the group wrote on Facebook: “We will always stand against any Zionist group, and to eradicate this practice, just like any other form of racism, we will fight against it…if there were Nazis, white nationalists, and KKK members on campus, would their identity have to be accepted and respected? Absolutely not. Then why would we respect the views of Zionists?”

The May 5, 2018 article referenced above also stated: “Uddin doubled down on the claims made in the Facebook post.”

On February 9, 2018, Uddin tweeted: “When you see people in the MSA nod their heads to intersectionality but had no problem working with Zionist groups in the past...y’all fake af [as f**k] lmao smfh [shaking my f**king head].”

Hatred of Israel

On March 1, 2020, Uddin tweeted: “You’re crying cause you were criticized for holding a heinous ideology and supporting a colonial entity that has led to countless death, destruction and displacement of Palestinians. The feelings and opinions of fascists should always be disregarded.”

Uddin’s tweet included a tweet from the Jewish news publication The Algemeiner that quoted an article that said: “‘If you are Jewish and you believe that Israel should exist in any way, shape, or form, you’re basically blacklisted, there’s no room for your point of view on the CUNY Law campus,’ Rafaella Gunz told The Algemeiner.”

On April 22, 2018, Uddin was quoted in an article published in The Statesman titled: “Anti-Zionist activists protest Israeli Independence Day celebration.”

The article said: Uddin was “trying to make the campus aware of Israel’s ‘true heinous nature’ through protesting.” Protestors reportedly held signs that said: “Zionism is Terrorism.”

On April 19, 2018, Uddin was featured in a video posted on Facebook by Stony Brook SJP titled: “We will always protest Zionism and the terrorist state of Israel! Join us and rid this campus of Zionism! ✊🏽✊🏽🇵🇸🇵🇸.”

Uddin, along with other Stony Brook SJP members, was protesting against a Stony Brook Hillel Israeli Independence Day celebration.

Hillel International is a Jewish campus organization serving college students at 850 universities worldwide.

Uddin could be seen in the video chanting [00:00:01]: “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free!”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.

On November 17, 2017, Uddin tweeted: “F**k anyone that wears an IDF [Israel Defense Forces] shirt. Y’all scum🖕🏼.”

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

MSA

The MSA was  established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with the goal of "spreading Islam as students in North America." A 2004 FBI investigation uncovered an internal Muslim Brotherhood document in which a brotherhood leader identified the MSA as "one of our organizations."

The MSA reportedly has “nearly 600 chapters” located in the United States and Canada, and is “the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America,” boasting conferences, special events, publications, websites and other activities.

The organization includes a number of previous chapter presidents with explicit links to terrorist groups. Included are al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (Colorado State University), Somali al-Shabaab militant leader Omar Shafik Hammami (University of South Alabama) and Pakistani Taliban recruiter Ramy Zamzam of the MSA's Washington, D.C. council.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
