Overview
Shafiq Majdalawieh has spread hatred of “Zionists” and Israel on social media.In 2016, he was involved with Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), an offshoot of the Muslim Student Association (MSA).
In 2015, Majdalawieh was an activist with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
As of November 2017, Majdalawieh’s Facebook page said he worked at the Muslim American Society (MAS) Youth Center and studied at Brooklyn College.
As of November 2017, Majdalawieh was a member of the closed Facebook group Brooklyn College Class of 2018.
Spreading Hatred of “Zionists”
On December 1, 2016, Majdalawieh tweeted about David Michael Blatt, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Israeli-American coach: “What job did you do lol. Get lost Zionist piece of crap.”On November 16, 2016, Majdalawieh tweeted: “So I found out today that BC screwed me over and my registration date was actually supposed to be last night. Frikin Zionists man smh.”
On April 11, 2016, Majdalawieh tweeted: “If the Knicks hire that Zionist pig Blatt I'm not rooting for them next season, frick that! @nyknicks.”
On March 20, 2016, Majdalawieh tweeted: “Brooklyn college is ridiculous man. How do you only offer a class in the spring? Frickin zionists man #frickcapitalism”
On February 6, 2016, Majdalawieh tweeted: “@Abdel_623 @oshmeezy since that Zionist pig is gone I'll root for your bae if they vs the Warriors. Different story if Khawi is there tho.”
On June 7, 2015, Majdalawieh tweeted: “I would care a lot less who won this Finals if the Cavs coach wasn't a piece of ish zionist.”
On June 4, 2015, Majdalawieh tweeted: “@Saymashallah23 Mashallah, but you can't rely on just two guys for a whole series. Plus, frik those Zionists lol”
Spreading Hatred of Israel
On October 8, 2016, Majdalawieh tweeted: “It's great seeing old non-Muslim friends from high-school on Facebook talking smack about Israel. It's like, yep you're still cool 😂.”Majdalawieh added: “@King_Mido_ @moe_iss hes literally supporting Netanyahu's promise of wiping out the Palestinians, absolutely disgusting and shameful wallahi.”
On that same day, Majdalawieh tweeted: “@King_Mido_ @moe_iss not supporting Hamas in no way justifies supporting Israel in the slaughter of innocent people.”
On July 17, 2014, Majdalawieh tweeted: “The US and UN are puppets of Israel! 4 innocent boys get targeted and they do absolutely nothing! How many more innocent people have to die?
On August 3, 2015, Majdalawieh tweeted: “If only we could chase out the rest of the Isrealis out of Palestine.”
CAIR
CAIR describes itself as a “grassroots civil rights and advocacy group” and “America's largest Muslim civil liberties organization, with regional offices nationwide.” Its official mission is “enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.”
CAIR reportedly has “significant ties” to the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as Hamas. A number of former CAIR employees have been convicted on fraud and terrorism-related charges that resulted monetary fines, jail terms and, sometimes, deportation.
CAIR was founded in 1994 and opened its first office in Washington, DC, with the help of a $5,000 donation from the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), a charity founded by Mousa Abu Marzook.
Marzook, who was listed as a "Specially Designated Terrorist" by the U.S. Treasury Department in 1995, is reportedly a senior member of Hamas.
In May 2007, CAIR was listed as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in a U.S.-filed action against the HLF for providing funds to Hamas.
CAIR was also listed as a terrorist entity by the United Arab Emirates, in 2014.
