On April 29, 2024, during Israel's war against Hamas terrorists, FOX 29 Philadelphia reported [00:01:07] that Selma Farsakh Ulm was the "spokesperson" for the anti-Israel protests at Penn, including the pro-Hamas encampment that illegally occupied the university's campus.
In an interview for FOX 29 Philadelphia, Selma Farsakh Ulm said [00:01:12], referring to Penn's refusal to comply with the encampment's demands: "We are here today asking them to disclose and divest from Israeli companies, companies that are supporting the genocide..."
Selma Farsakh Ulm also said [00:01:51], referring to the encampment organizers' refusal to dismantle it despite university orders: "I think it's important that they allow such a peaceful thing to continue happening."
On April 25, 2024, anti-Israel activists from Penn, Temple University and Drexel University set up the "Gaza Solidarity Encampment" on the Penn campus to protest Israel's war against Hamas.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped 251 and wounded thousands. War crimes included various systematic sexual crimes like gang rape and genital mutilation. Men and women were violated, even after being murdered. Victims who survived that day, including hostages, endured forms of humiliation and torture.
Gazans working in the targeted Israeli villages provided intelligence to Hamas on which families to kill and torture, including long-time employers. Many Palestinian civilians joined in and celebrated the attacks. Hamas livestreamed their crimes on social media, including to victims’ accounts for families to see.
