Selma Abu-Ghazaleh

Overview

Selma Abu-Ghazaleh has promoted anti-Semitism, glorified a terrorist, whitewashed the terror group Hamas and defended violent protesters. She has also spread hatred of Israel and demonized Zionists.

In 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh indicated on Twitter that she was affiliated with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

As of April 2021, Abu-Ghazaleh’s Facebook page said she “Studies Development studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London, in the United Kingdom, and “Started in 2020.”

In December 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh wrote on Instagram “I have officially graduated with my Bachelors Degree in International Studies with two minors in History & Jewish Studies, graduating a semester early with Magna Cum Laude Honors.” 

In July, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh’s Facebook page said that she studied International Relations at the City College of New York (CCNY). 

As of August 2020, Abu-Ghazaleh used the alias Susu and the handle faneeda_7arra on Twitter. Abu-Ghazaleh also wrote in her bio that she was an “anti-zionist.”

As of August 2020, Abu-Ghazaleh’s Instagram bio indicated that she lived in New York.

Promoting Anti-Semitism

On May 16, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Hamdillah [Thank Allah] just finished my minor in Jewish studies I don’t gotta hear their khara [s**t] no more.”

On February 10, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Crazy how drake the only yahoodi [Jew] that I allow myself to say looks good.” Abu-Ghazaleh added: “walek 2araf lisa ahwan [Oh my Gosh, he still looks ugly].”

On January 13, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Beware of jawasees [spies].” Abu-Ghazaleh added: “Iw3a hadol jawasees min al yahood [Those are Jewish spies].”

Abu-Ghazaleh’s tweet was in response to another tweet by Israeli Arab, Yahya Mahamid, that read: “I hold the flag of my county with pride, as an Israeli Arab, I was taught to hate Israel, but I overcame the hatred! #NewProfilePic.” 

On January 7, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Khalas ro7 sho5 ow nam ta7ya falasteen ow kos om al yahood [Enough, go p*ss off, long live Palestine, the Jews' mother's c*nt].”

On October 21, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “You’re Yahoodi [Jewish] just know you will automatically lose in any sort of further communication we have.”

On October 2, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Wish I didn’t look so Jewish.”

On September 10, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “YOU'RE YAHOODI [Jewish] GET OUT OF OUR MENTIONS.”

On January 11, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “All I see is Yahoodi yahoodi yahoodi- [Jewish Jewish Jewish] therefore no longer attractive.”

Glorifying a Terrorist

On January 21, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Women that inspire me, my own beautiful cousin Shadia Abu-Ghazaleh who was the first female resistance fighter and died for our amazing”

Abu-Ghazaleh’s tweet featured a photo of Shadia Abu Ghazaleh, a bomb-maker for the terrorist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

Abu Ghazaleh was famous for her involvement in many attacks against Israeli civilian targets. She died in 1968, when a bomb she was preparing in her home for an attack on a building in Tel Aviv accidentally detonated.

Whitewashing Hamas

On September 10, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “2017 and we're still calling Hamas a terrorist Group :/ wallah Ana hasa howa bas bifta7 al net ow bi9ra ishiyat mish moofida [My Gosh, I open the web and read useless things].”

Hamas is a designated terrorist organization by the European Union, Canada, Australia, the United States and Israel.

Defending Violent Protesters

On May 14, 2018,during violent riots occurring on Israel’s border with Gaza, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “If you really think it’s because of Hamas ‘violence’ than there’s something wrong with you. Defending your people and land does not justify 9,000 people being injured and almost 100 dead so far. How many Israeli SOLDIERS or people have been killed? NONE.”


On May 15, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Just know there’s some Israeli in this world jacking off to pictures of Palestinian people who’ve been murdered.”

Abu-Ghazaleh’s tweet was in response to a tweet by the former U.S. Presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders, that read: “Over 50 killed in Gaza today and 2,000 wounded, on top of the 41 killed and more than 9,000 wounded over the past weeks. This is a staggering toll. Hamas violence does not justify Israel firing on unarmed protesters.”

On May 16, 2018, a Hamas senior official, Salah al-Bardawil, stated that 50 out of 62 protesters killed during the May 14 Gaza border protest were Hamas operatives. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also claimed that three of its members were killed at the same protest.

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On August 6, 2020, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Like can sunni vs shia twitter plz use their energy on cursing isr*el plzzzz or bake a cake or something and spend some time with their families?”

On February 13, 2020, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Algeria vs Morocco slander on the tl [Twitter timeline]? Plz put that energy towards fr*nce and isr*el slander.”

On October 22, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Idc what religion or ethnicity you are if you side w isr*el I don’t value you period cause that means you don’t value you me nor my ppls basic human rights so kos omkom ma 2ili khas feekom [your mother's c*nt I don't need you].”

On September 21, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Moroccans and Iraqis beefing on the tl [timeline]? Why don’t y’all point this energy towards isr*el????”

On September 9, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “The club I went to in Palestine has been set on fire 3 times before by Isr*el imagine being that MAD you wasn’t invited to the function LMFAOO maybe if you were lit & didn’t partake in apartheid you’d be invited but noo you just wanna cry and ruin all the fun for everybody else.”

On March 18, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “A wise man once said, ‘Isr*el=mierda [s**t]’ and I think about that a lot…”

Abu-Ghazaleh added to the thread: “we must make our ancestors the shaheeds [martyrs] proud this guy will never take us down.” The tweet featured a photo of a person with a caption labeling him as “Israel.”

On March 13, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “...you’re not Palestinian and haven’t lived through the genocide state of Isr*el.”

On February 5, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Boycotting Israel/being against the Apartheid State of Israel should never be interchangeable with Anti-Semitism. They scare folks with saying that if you’re against the occupation that you’re against a whole religion and it’s beliefs. No excuse for you to believe this bs in 2019.”

Abu-Ghazaleh added: “Recognizing 70 years of oppression, misconduct, violation of human rights, genocide, misplacement/removal of ppl from their native homes, and the generational PTSD Palestinians must endure has absolutely nothing to do with going against Judaism and those who practice the religion.”

On January 30, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh also tweeted: “Yea good for Ashton Kutcher but maybe not donating thousands to israelwhich entails funding the genocide and displacement of the Palestinian people.”

On December 16, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted that Israel had “...removed & driven thousands and thousands from their homes along with rape & murder for the last 70 yrs.”

On December 13, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Falasteen [Palestine] going crazy today plz keep my ppl in your duaas [prayers] Israel is coming for blood and they’ll do anything in their power to get the job done.”

That day, the Israeli army sealed off the Palestinian city of Ramallah due to concerns of increased violence after two Israeli soldiers were killed near the city. 

In a deadly attack three days earlier, a Palestinian terrorist shot seven Israelis from a moving car as they were waiting at a bus stop near the Israeli community of Ofra. October and December 2018 saw a spate of Palestinian attacks against Israelis and subsequent IDF responses to the attacks. 

On November 2, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Just flipped through an isra*li cookbook and I can’t believe my eyes but they deada** put imsakhan in it LMFAOOOOOOOOO.”

Musakhan [Imsakhan] is a “layered preparation of chicken, onion softened with sumac, and doughy pieces of taboon bread.”

Abu-Ghazaleh added: “Like what Russian Jew really thinks imsakhan is Isra*limust suck not having culture so you even have to steal that.”

On December 8, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Broo ur Israeli WHST ARE U DOING ON MY ACCOUNT U SICK F**K GTFOOOOO LMFAOOOO SHOULDNT U BE JERKING OFF TO THE SOUNDS OF MY COUSINS DYING.”

On September 7, 2017, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “When the Israeli girl in my class talks about her ‘country's culture’ I'm so confused wallah. Cause they have none.”

Demonizing Zionists

On April 5, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “I really wanted to get those Pharrell shoes at the time but he’s a Zionist so he can shove his overpriced shoes up his a** kos imo.”

On January 30, 2019, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Anyone: stans their favorite celebrity Me: does extensive research in the slight chances they’re a Zionist and cancels them automatically cause I have a f**kin brain.”

On the same day, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “I really don’t give a f**k if a person saved a cat from a burning building and fixed the MTA if they’re a Zionist. Idk how many times I gotta remind y’all but if you’re a Zionist you’re automatically against me/every Pali and all Muslims.”

On December 4, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Zionists are trying to erase our identity and culture in anyway possible…”

On June 20, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “I hope you don’t get suspended for this one I got suspended for telling a Zionist to k*ll herself.”

On June 13, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “...there isn’t one Zionist that we can respect.”

On May 15, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Life as a Zionist is fun, you don’t get arrested for killing innocent lives, you take people’s hard earned money, and their land, you get people who are world superpowers that are stupider than yourself to support you and you get to be ugly with no problems . ”

On March 14, 2018, Abu-Ghazaleh tweeted: “Is Zionism a mental disorder?” The tweet included a poll with 89% answering “Yea b***h tf” and 11% answering “Nah killin babies is cool.”
