Overview

Savannah Landau has spread hatred of Zionists and the police. Landau has also demonized Israel and Zionism and expressed support for terrorists.

Landau is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Landau was affiliated with the anti-Israel organization General Union of Palestine Students (GUPS) at San Francisco State University (SFSU). GUPS is an affiliate of the national anti-Israel campus group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

In February 2018, Landau reportedly co-founded the anti-Israel student group Jews Against zionism (JAz).

As of September 2022, Landau’s LinkedIn said Landau was the Program Coordinator of Immigration Justice and Special Projects at the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) San Francisco Bay Area Chapter from January 2021 to January 2022.

As of the same date, Landau’s LinkedIn page said that Landau was located in the “San Francisco Bay Area.”

As of September 2022, Landau’s LinkedIn said Landau graduated from SFSU with a bachelor’s degree in “Film/Cinema/Video Studies” in 2018.

Also as of September 2022, Landau used the handle “@conscious_d0rk” on Twitter.

Hatred of Zionists

On June 11, 2020, Landau tweeted: “If you are a Zionist, yes even a liberal Zionist, you are anti-Black. It's really not that complicated…”

Landau retweeted a May 21, 2021 tweet that said: “Zionists…‘only’ ethnically cleansed 80% of the Palestinian population instead of 100%.”

Hatred of the Police

On December 16, 2020, Landau tweeted: “Anyways, f**k the police and please sign this petition to demilitarize OPD [Oakland Police Department]

. ” The tweet was accompanied by a link to the petition.

On April 12, 2020, Landau tweeted: “police are a non-essential entity, but they are a state-sanctioned gang.”

On October 31, 2017, Landau referred to a police uniform in a tweet as “pig’s clothing.”

Demonizing Israel

On June 11, 2020, Landau tweeted: “the amount of death and destruction that the state of Israel has produced, not just to Palestinians, but across the world and especially to Black people through military, combat, & surveillance aid…”

Landau retweeted a May 13, 2021 tweet during Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW) that said: “settler colonial state attempts to pr their way out of actively committing genocide....” The tweet referred to the Israeli government’s call for peace at the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

Landau retweeted a May 19, 2021 tweet from the anti-Israel group Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC) that said: “Saturday in San Francisco: Rise Up for Palestine #BDS #GazaUnderAttack #SaveSheikhJarrah.”

In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

The AROC tweet that Landau retweeted promoted a “day of action,” and showed masked activists holding Palestinian flags and shooting slingshots. The event was titled: “Resistance until Liberation” and it was supported by multiple anti-Israel organizations, among them Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and American Muslims for Palestine (AMP).

Landau retweeted a May 23, 2021 tweet objecting to Jewish property claims in the Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem, that said: “The struggle against Israeli settler-colonialism—& the imminent risk of ethnic cleansing—extends beyond Sheikh Jarrah…Join us this Wednesday, let’s #SaveSilwan.”

Jewish ownership claims to lands in Silwan, a Jerusalem neighborhood also known as Shiloach, have been frequently met with Palestinian violence against Israelis who sought to reclaim their property rights.

Landau retweeted a June 15, 2021 tweet that said: “...The Zionist entity is genocidal no matter which flavor of fascist is in power.”

The tweet referred to a post about newly sworn-in Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett launching retaliatory airstrikes on Hamas targets in response to the release of hundreds of incendiary balloons toward Israel.

Following a May 2021 cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas, Gazans sent hundreds of incendiary balloons toward Israel, causing multiple fires and significant damage to Israeli agricultural produce. In June 2021, Israel launched retaliatory strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza. Hamas arson balloon attacks have reportedly destroyed more than 10,400 acres of land since 2018.

Landau retweeted a June 28, 2021 tweet that said: “

Landau retweeted a July 30, 2021 tweet that said: “All Israelis are armed and dangerous and have Palestinian blood on their hands.”

Demonizing Zionism

On November 21, 2020, Landau tweeted: “...I can confirm that zionism is a racist ideology…”

Landau retweeted a May 24, 2021 tweet after OGW that said: “why do people need proof that z*onism is genocidal? … nearly 300 Palestinians were murdered in 11 days. the proof is right there. genocide apologist motherfu**ers.”

Landau retweeted a May 27, 2021 tweet that said: “the end game of zionism *is* to wipe out palestinians. the occupation is not just some fluke — its infrastructure and its violence facilitate Palestinian migration, as well as reservationization in area A cities. so yes, zionism is colonialism.”

Under the Oslo II Accord, "Area A," which comprises approximately 18% of the West Bank, is controlled exclusively by the Palestinian Authority (PA), which has full responsibility for internal security (including the combatting of terrorism), public order and all civil affairs. Area A includes major Palestinian cities and towns such as Ramallah, Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarem, Qalqilya and Bethlehem, as well as the Jericho Area and 80% of the City of Hebron. It is forbidden for Israelis to enter Area A.

Supporting Terrorists

On September 23, 2020, Landau tweeted: “and just like that, @YouTube silenced Palestinian voices.”

Landau was referring to Zoom cancelling of an SFSU lecture featuring Leila Khaled spoke by Zoom. Facebook followed Zoom’s lead, and YouTube shut down the event when Khaled began speaking about the PFLP terrorist organization.

Leila Khaled is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau. Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated [00:36:07] for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.

Landau retweeted a September 6, 2021 tweet by the anti-Israel organization Palestinian Youth Movement‏ that said: “

On Monday morning, 6 Palestinian prisoners escaped and liberated themselves from the Gilboa Zionist Detention Center near Jenin. Details in thread

#PalestinianPrisoners #FreeThemAll #FreePalestine.”

On September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the maximum-security Gilboa Prison in Israel. The escaped prisoners were convicted members of the terror organizations Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, who were jailed for their involvement in attacks carried out during the second intifada. All were recaptured by September 19, 2021, by Israeli authorities.

Landau retweeted a September 6, 2021 tweet by anti-Israel agitator Mohammed El-Kurd that said: “6 Palestinian political prisoners managed to escape a high-security Israeli jail this morning. I am going to bed with a smile on my face and dreaming of the day all prisons are abolished.

”

Landau retweeted a September 17, 2021 tweet from AROC that said: “#FreeThemAll Rally in San Francisco. Uplifting our political prisoners from Gilboa to San Quentin. #FreePalestine.”

The tweet featured an image of protesters carrying a sign that read: “... Globalize the Intifada

.”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

GUPS SFSU - Overview

GUPS SFSU has promoted terrorists, participated in anti-Israel rallies, demonized Israel and Zionism, and campaigned for the BDS Movement as part of its anti-Israel activism.

GUPS SFSU was founded in 1973. Hatem Bazian was reportedly GUPS SFSU’s most prominent alumnus, as he co-founded the anti-Israel organization Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at UC-Berkeley in 2000. He also founded American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) in 2006. SJP was modeled on GUPS when it was founded.

GUPS SFSU - Supporting a Terrorist 2015-2016

On March 8, 2016, GUPS SFSU posted to Instagram a graphic that portrayed Leila Khaled as a “fierce woman resisting colonial powers and repression.”

GUPS SFSU - Demonizing Zionism 2017-2018

On February 23, 2018, GUPS SFSU wrote on the Medium platform that “Zionism is the violent ideology responsible for the genocide and displacement of indigenous Palestinians and the destruction of Palestinian land," as well as a “form of hate” that is not welcome “in the Bay Area, let alone SFSU.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
