Anti-Semitism

In January 2023, Ramer was selected as an academic fellowship finalist by CJPME. The CJPME profile on Ramer said that his undergraduate thesis was on “the impact of the pro-Israel lobby in the US through the case study of 1982 re-election campaign of Paul Findley…”

Authors John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt's 2007 book, "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy," invokes the conspiracy theory of Israeli and Jewish control over the U.S. government. Proponents of the theory decry the negative effects on American interests, particularly in foreign policy.

According to CJPME, Findley was defeated “through a massive campaign (and significant spending) from pro-Israel lobby organizations” and claimed that Ramer’s thesis “provides an early example of the pro-Israel lobby’s role in electoral politics, and will show how the lobby has suppressed critical speech on Israel and Palestinian human rights.”

Findley reportedly also blamed his re-election loss in 1982 on the “pro-Israel lobby” and published various anti-Israel books and articles in which he attacked Israel’s supporters as “occupy[ing] influential positions throughout U.S. society—not just in the media…” and developing “a tight grip on America’s Middle East policy.”

In September 2022, Findley also blamed the 9/11attacks on the U.S.’s relationship with Israel, and also blamed Israel for the second Iraq war. Findley reportedly referred to himself as “[Yaser] Arafat’s best friend in Congress.”

Yasser Arafat was the former leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and is known by some as the “father of modern terrorism.” Under Arafat, the goal of the PLO was the violent destruction of Israel.

In a post on LinkedIn, Ramer wrote: “I am thankful for the support and encouragement from CJPME in my research on the Israeli Lobby and its influences on US politics.”

On August 12, 2020, Ramer posted a photo on Instagram of himself posing with Ilhan Omar and holding posters for her re-election campaign. Ramer wrote: “Israeli lobby really wasted 7 million on a loss lol Proud to have worked for @ilhanmn.”

Ramer’s LinkedIn said that in August 2020 he was the Student Organizing Ambassador and Canvasser for Omar’s re-election campaign.

Ilhan Omar was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018. In February 2019, top Congressional leaders denounced Omar for tweeting anti-Semitic remarks.

The stated mission of American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is to “strengthen, protect and promote the U.S.-Israel relationship in ways that enhance the security of the United States and Israel.”

Hatred of Israel and America

On May 13, 2021, Ramer tweeted: “Come show support and protest.” His tweet linked to a protest titled: “PALESTINE CAN'T BREATHE - #SaveSheikhJarrah.”

The Facebook event description said: “Sheikh Jarrah is being forcefully ‘evicted’ by Israel as settlers try to STEAL the Palestinian homes” and claimed Palestinians “have been murdered by Israel's death squad, otherwise known as the IDF.”

In May 2021, calls to “save” Sheikh Jarrah, a Jerusalem neighborhood at the center of a property dispute, led to violence against Israelis and were one of the leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel that month.

The Facebook event description also said: “American police are trained to use the very same disgusting, inhumane tactics that IDF (Israeli soldiers) uses to terrorize Palestinians on a daily basis? Police brutality in America is directly linked to our government's unwavering military, financial, and political support of Israel's fascist regime.”

The accusation that Israeli law enforcement teaches American police brutal tactics during police exchange programs is used to demonize Israel. Participants in these programshave stated [00:02:14] that the training in Israel focuses [00:13:36] on public policy, counter-terrorism and leadership training in the form of lectures and discussions.

On May 28, 2020, Ramer tweeted: “F**k America, f**k everyone who supports America and f**k the troops.” In the same thread, he tweeted: “Also f**k all cops.”

On April 22, 2020, Ramer tweeted accusing Israel of “Apartheid and the ongoing ethnic cleanings of Palestinians.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
