Overview

Salma Erakat [Amal Nizar Erakat] has called for the destruction of Israel and America, called for the death of Israelis and shown a violent hatred of Zionists. Erakat has also spread anti-Semitism and promoted homophobia and bigotry.

Erakat has whitewashed the Hamas terror group, expressed support for terrorists and spread hatred of Israelis and Zionists, as well as Israel and America.

In November 2021, Erakat expressed solidarity with Yasmeen Mashayekh, a graduate student at the University of Southern California (USC) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Senator who tweeted her desire to "kill every motherf**king Zionist."

Erakat is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Erakat has claimed to be the cousin of terrorist Ahmad Erakat, who was was killed by Israeli security forces after he rammed his car into soldiers at a checkpoint.

On October 23, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “OH MY GOD I JUST GOT INTO UGA [University of Georgia] ?????? IM GOING TO BE A WHITE SUPREMACIST!!!!!!!!!

.”

On December 10, 2021, Erakat indicated on Twitter that she studies architecture.

On June 2, 2020, Erakat wrote on Twitter that was “deferring” her “acceptance letter” from Georgia Southern University (GSU). On May 29, 2020, Erakat tweeted that she was “majoring in communication sciences and disorders.”

As of December 2021, Erakat indicated on Facebook that she lived in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

As of November 2021, Erakat’s Twitter bio said she was a “full time zionist stomper.” She also used the handle “@harIeyivys” and the screen name “#1 angel” on Twitter, but as of December 30, 2021, the account was suspended.

Calling for the Destruction of America and Israel

On June 15, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “i think it’s about time someone drops an atomic bomb on israel.”

On July 27, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “i want america to burn like actually someone set it on fire.”

On August 3, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “at this point knowing that all zionists are going to burn in hell is the only thing to pacify my anger because what the f**k else can i do there is absolutely nothing we can do to get someone to listen and stop Israel someone needs to b0mb tel aviv and america asap [as soon as possible].”

Calling for the Death of Israelis

On May 16, 2021, during Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW) against Hamas, Erakat tweeted: “i hope next time an actual rocket interrupts your life,” in response to a tweet that read: “When rocket sirens interrupt your beach day.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

On July 24, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “do it again,” in response to a tweet that read: “In Munich, 11 Israelis (5 athletes, 6 coaches) were taken hostage and murdered by the Palestinian terrorist group Black September. Holocaust-survivor Shaul Ladany was 1 of the athletes who was able to escape in 1972. #OlympicGames #NeverAgain.”

Black September was a Palestinian terror organization responsible for the Munich Massacre at the 1972 Olympic Games. The terrorists murdered 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team after holding them hostage for 19 hours.

The phrase “Never Again” is often deployed as a general declaration against genocide, invoking the Nazis’ war of extermination against the Jews.

On August 3, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “praying for a natural disaster that ends the life of every single israeli walking the lands of palestine right now.”

On August 10, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “ugly rats i hope a hamas r0cket hits them,” in response to a photo of “future Israeli @IDF [Israel Defense Forces] soldiers from abroad in #Hebron.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

On November 21, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “i will always laugh and applaud when settlers and idf soldiers die theyre already in hell yall.”

On November 21, 2021, Eliyahu David Kay, a 25-year-old Israeli civilian and tour guide,was killed by a Hamas gunman, Fadi Abu Shkhaidem, who opened fire near the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Kay was an immigrant from South Africa who had served in the Israeli army. One civilian and two policemen were also injured from the shooting.

On November 22, 2021, Erakat tweeted about Kay, justifying his death, writing: “maybe if he wasn’t a terrorist and an apartheid enjoyer he wouldn’t have died.”

On November 24, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “but we’re the bad guys for wanting every one of these f**kers dead

.”

Erakat’s tweet linked to a video of Israeli police and others fighting after the police reportedly enforced a 30-day closure of a restaurant for employing illegal residents.

Violent Hatred of Zionists

As of December 2021, Erakat’s Twitter bio said: “phd in zionist stomping.”

As of November 2021, Erakat’s Twitter bio said she was a “full time zionist stomper.”

On August 3, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “yeah no if i see someone reading a racist or zionist author im going to attack them tf [the f**k].”

On May 15, 2021, during OGW, Erakat tweeted: “i want to spit in every americans face that downplays what is happening right now yall would be crying if you grew up surrounded by bombs without a moment of peace americans have no empathy for anyone but themselves.”

On November 7, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “i’ve never wanted to beat someone up as much as this b**ch go d*e b**ch,” in response to a screenshot of a tweet that read: “what has a palestinian done for me? as an black woman? nothing.”

Spreading Anti-Semitism

On May 12, 2021, during OGW, Erakat tweeted: “isn’t half of hollywood jewish too? no wonder none of them have spoken up in support for palestine.”

The assertion that Jews control the media has been traced to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic fabricated text that depicts wealthy Jews conspiring to take over the world.

Also on May 12, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “you can tell hollywood is run by zionists because they keep trying to make gal gadot happen when she can’t act and has the face of a horse.”

Gal Gadot is an Israeli actress who has starred as Wonder Woman.

On May 15, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “they’re not going to cancel it. during bvs [Batman V Superman] promo and the first ww [wonder woman] people brought up her past pro-idf comments and her post praising a zionist war criminal and nothing happened hollywood is run by zionists they do not care.”

On June 27, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “zionism=nazism.”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

Also on June 27, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “just because it’s not in as big a scale as the holocaust doesn’t mean it’s not happening. but you’re raised to believe something different so im not surprised.” Erakat was responding to a pro-Israel tweet addressed to her that said: “I would like her to prove Zionism is Nazism.”

On the same date, Erakat tweeted that “all the zionist’s in the world are nazis

On November 13, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “idc [I don’t care] if you’re a white jew from europe or america you don’t belong anywhere in the ME [Middle East].”

One way that anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is to claim [00:06:46] that Israeli Jews, particularly Ashkenazi Jews, do not descend from the ancient Israelites.

This claim alleges that Israeli Jews are white Europeans who lack a connection to the Land of Israel. The Khazar myth is a common version of this claim which is used to delegitimize [00:02:16] the existence of the modern State of Israel.

On November 24, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “idf [Israel Defense Force] soldiers and zionists when they realize they’re going to be sitting right next to hitler and columbus in hell.”

Promoting Homophobia

On February 13, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “i HATE gay white men like i don’t think anyone understands.”

On June 22, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “you’re going to burn in hell either way f@g,” in response to a tweet from pro-Israel activist Hen Mazzig, who is gay.

On July 19, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “how am i supposed to take israeli activists seriously when they’re all white gay twinks with rainbow flags in their bios f**k outta here that s**t for females.”

On July 16, 2021, she tweeted: “anytime a male zionist starts tweeting on here:

Promoting Bigotry

On November 13, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “these snow roaches are more mad that someone called them WHITEthan what israel is doing to palestinians

“Snowroach” is a derogatory term used to describe a white people.

On October 22, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “need to start treating white people like animals i’m tired of them.”

Also on October 22, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “why do you, as a white person, think you can speak?”

On July 13, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “east asians move like white people thinking being pale automatically makes you better like no you’re still ugly.”

On May 22, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “white people are the root cause of all evil they are going to suffer in hell.”

On January 25, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “y’all know i hate white people more than i breathe oxygen everyday but they are not in the wrong here!”

On January 19, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “whenever i’m annoyed i take all my anger out on white people as i should.”

On December 18, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “god white people are a disease.”

On September 11, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “there is just something about seeing white people happy that doesn’t sit right with me.”

Whitewashing Hamas

On June 22, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “hamas is most likely not real because it’s only brought up when israel needs to excuse its actions if they were real they would be bombing israel everyday.”

On June 4, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “hamas is literally an invisible villain that israel created to get away with war crimes.”

Supporting Terrorists

Erakat retweeted a September 7, 2021 tweet from anti-Israel activist Reem Zaitoon that read: “Power to the escaped prisoners may they remain protected

.”

On September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the maximum-security Gilboa Prison in Israel. The escaped prisoners were convicted members of the terror organizations Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, who were jailed for their involvement in attacks carried out during the second intifada. All were recaptured by September 19, 2021, by Israeli authorities.

On September 21, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “israel is not allowing my family to give my cousin [Ahmed Erakat] a proper burial by withholding his body so next time someone wants to act like the israeli occupation is nothing to take personal look at this.”

Ahmad Erekat [Ahmad Moustafa Erekat; Ahmed Erakat] was killed by Israeli security forces after he accelerated and rammed his car into soldiers at a checkpoint. One female soldier was injured. The incident was captured on video.

Hatred of Israelis

On October 13, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “sometimes i feel ugly then i remember that at least im not israeli.”

On June 18, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “israelis care more about genocide than animals AND palestinians.”

On June 16, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “nothing anyone will ever say to me will change my mind israeli settlers are the devils spawn they will get what they deserve during judgement day.”

On the same day, Erakat tweeted: “it’s just insane to me that white people who have never set foot in palestine or israel have the audacity of telling me a palestinian that im not allowed to hate israelis.”

On June 15 2021, Erakat tweeted: “israelis promised land is in hell go back where you came from runts.”

On May 25, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “love knowing that there’s a designated place in hell for israelis while palestinians peacefully roam heaven.” In the same thread, she added: “oops not just israelis zionists too!”

Hatred of Zionists

On November 25, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “literally the only reason anyone listens to zionists is because of money and their connections their nasty claws are in everything.”

On August 8, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “that tweet was right asf [as f**k] there is not a single attractive zionist out there.”

On July 28, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “someone tell that zionist f@ggot to move over i want jacob.”

June 27, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “i’m on cloud 9 right now knowing that every zionist has their name postmarked in hell ready for them.”

On June 26, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “after i finish these 5 lecture videos im going to dox some zionists for fun.”

On June 24, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “you are all hypocrites but im not sweating it because everyone who supports israel has a special place in hell designated for them onlythat burns hotter than all of hell.”

On November 21, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “no zionism is a white supremacist virus.”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

On October 6, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “i have never met a zionist with a brain before isn’t that so sad

Hatred of Israel

In July 2021, Erakat used the screen name “F**K ISRAEL” on Twitter.

On June 27, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “israel and us both share the same values in stealing land from indigenous people and performing ethnic cleansing.”

Also on June 27, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “yeah we’ll stop blaming israel when y’all get the f**k out.”

On the same day, Erakat tweeted: “very ironic that you keep screaming murder and fascism when you live in israel. home of genocide and bloodshed

.”

On May 10, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “it’s absolutely insane to me how far american politicians are up israel’s a**.”

On December 26, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “why exactly does israel have the right to exist? because some white british c**t just decided that that land is free to do what they want with it?”

On August 12, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “if hating a country for committing genocide on my people makes me anti-semitic then okay.”

Hatred of America

On September 6, 2021, Erakat tweeted about the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, writing: “americans need to be lucky that 9/11 is the only ruse that their country planned.”

On May 10, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “america and israel are going to get what’s coming to them soon.”

On January 6, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “america is ruled by white supremacy.”

On June 1, 2020, Erakat tweeted: “no wonder israel and america are bffs [best friends forever] they both love to kill and undermine the rightful citizens of their s**t countries.”

Solidarity with Yasmeen Mashayekh

In November 2021, Erakat tweeted multiple times in support of Mashayekh who was [00:11:08] in the middle of a national controversy over anti-Semitism she spread on social media that year.

In October 2021, Mashayekh was listed as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Senator for USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering (Viterbi). In May 2021, she tweeted: "I want to f**king kill every motherf**king Zionist.” She also tweeted: “yel3an el yahood [curse the Jews]

.”

Mashayekh has also spread violent hatred of Israeli Jews, called for the destruction of Israel and America, expressed support for Hamas and glorified terrorists.

Mashayekh was condemned after Canary Mission exposed her anti-Semitic tweets.

On November 25, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “and to think if palestinians just donated
more money to usc then yasmeen wouldn’t have been punished

.”

Supporting BDS

On July 30, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “yeah i just realized when i went to the actual insta post but even when their [Ben & Jerry’s] original announcement came out i knew they were full of shit since they only removed the ice cream in illegally occupied territories when all of israel is illegally occupied

.”

On July 19, 2021, ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s announced it would stop all product sales in “Occupied Palestinian Territory.” The BDS movement celebrated the decision, calling on the ice cream company to boycott the State of Israel in its entirety. However, company owner Unilever overrode the subsidiary’s decision after multiple US states decided to divest public funds from Unilever.

Also on July 30, 2021, Erakat tweeted: “f**k unilever they need to fully push through and just remove all their ice cream from israel.”

Erakat retweeted a November 24, 2021 tweet that read: “supporting BDS is literally the bare minimum one can do when it comes Palestinian human rights. if you claim to be a progressive and don’t even support that, then you’re not an ally, you’re an opposition...”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
