Overview
Saileen Ahmad [Saileen Rayanne Ahmad] signed an anti-Israel petition and served as president of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the City College of New York (CCNY) in May 2023.Ahmad is a supporter of the Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) movement.
In April 2021, Ahmad was listed as the vice president for CCNY SJP.
As of May 2023, Ahmad’s LinkedIn said she was studying biomedical engineering at CCNY, slated to graduate in 2023. Her LinkedIn also said she planned to pursue a master’s degree upon graduation, and that she was working as a teaching assistant at CCNY since January 2022.
As of the same date, Ahmad’s LinkedIn said she was located in the New York City Metropolitan area.
As of May 2023, Ahmad went by the name “Rayanne Ahmad” and used the handle “@rayanneahmad” on Instagram.
Anti-Israel Activism
On May 28, 2021, Ahmad signed an anti-Israel statement titled: “CUNY Community Statement of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.”The statement said that signatories pledge to: “Initiate, support, and amplify campaigns in solidarity with Palestinian calls for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israeli apartheid…”
The statement also said: “We condemn the forced removal of Palestinians from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah” and “oppose the raiding of the al-Aqsa mosque…”
Incitement surrounding Al-Aqsa and Sheikh Jarrah were leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at Israeli population centers from May 10 to 21, 2021. In response to rocket attacks from Gaza, Israel launched “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” striking military targets in the terrorist-controlled enclave.
The statement was published with a promotion for a BDS rally held at John Jay College (JJC) on the same date titled: “CUNY MUST DIVEST! Rally and Press Conference for BDS.”

At the protest, WOL founder Nerdeen Kiswani said [00:02:08]: “We have to make sure that wherever there are zionists, they know that there will be people there to oppose their racist ideology.”Another speaker at the rally said [00:01:04] Israel is the “biggest provider of injustice in the world.” Activists also chanted [00:01:12]: “It is right to rebel, israel go to hell,” and [00:01:34] “One, two, three, four, Occupation no more! Five, six, seven, eight, smash the settler Zionist state!”
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
