Sadia Laskar

Overview

Sadia Laskar has promoted incitement, spread an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory and expressed hatred of Zionists on Twitter. Laskar has also spread hatred of Israel, demonized Zionism and engaged in anti-Israel activism.

In February 2021, Laskar wrote in an article that she was a student at Baruch College (Baruch) in New York City (NYC) in her first semester since “Spring 2021.” Baruch is part of the City University of New York (CUNY).

Laskar wrote in the same article that she previously “studied at Pace University [Pace] for a year and a half” and then pursued an “associate’s degree” at Laguardia Community College (Laguardia).

Promoting Incitement

Laskar retweeted a June 7, 2021 tweet that read: “Groups of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, protected by the occupation forces.”

Palestinians and anti-Israel activists have historically described visits by Jews to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem as “incursions” during which Jews purportedly “storm” the Temple Mount and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Palestinians have also frequently used the mosque to stockpile stone slabs, fireworks and rocks, with which they attack Israeli security officers and non-Muslim visitors to the Temple Mount.

On May 15, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “LONG LIVE THE INTIFADA!!!”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

Laskar retweeted a May 10, 20201 tweet, that read: “They've set fire to Al-Aqsa.Is that not enough to get your blood boiling?”

In May 2021, social media erupted with videos allegedly showing Jews dancing and cheering while a tree burned near the Al-Aqsa mosque. The fire was reportedly caused by Palestinian rioters shooting fireworks at Israeli police. Jews had gathered at the Western Wall in honor of Jerusalem Day, an Israeli national holiday, with no connection to the incident.

On May 7, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “they do this every year on Ramadan. May Allah protect the Palestinian people and cause the downfall of isr*el soon.”

Laskar was responding to a tweet by Al Jazeera English (AJ English) producer Linah Alsaafin that featured video footage of clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in Jerusalem.

In May 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound following claims the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The subsequent incitement was a leading factor in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel later that month. Israel responded by launching “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza. Allegations of Jews “threatening” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque have been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews predating the State of Israel.

Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theory

On May 11, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “Im barely getting any views on any story I post about Palestine on IG [Instagram]. The zionist control everything and they're making it so people don't come to realize how f**ked in the head they are.”

The assertion that Jews control the media has been traced to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic fabricated text that depicts wealthy Jews conspiring to take over the world.

Hatred of Zionists

On June 6, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “My cousins block in philly has a lot of Palestinan families but one of the neighbors put up a huge Is**el flag in front of their ugly a** house...anyways, they don't have a flag up anymore 😌.”

Laskar retweeted a May 24, 2021 tweet by anti-Israel activist Dunia Ghanimah following Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW) against Hamas. The tweet said: “Do not, I repeat, DO NOT be distracted by zionist tactics. They want u to be talking about antisemitism, hamas, 2 states right now. Anything to distract u from the real issues at hand. Stay focused and don’t play into their games.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

On May 23, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “They disgust me so much man, look how easy it is for them to decide they want to come take away another Palestinians land. They make me so angry. disgusting.”

Laskar was responding to a tweet by a pro-Israel Twitter user who tweeted: “Tonight as we had shabbat dinner my husband and I discussed moving to Israel. I bet we are not alone.”

Laskar retweeted a May 11, 2021 tweet that read: “Zionists don’t have a place on Earth because the deepest pit of hell is reserved for Israel.”

On May 8, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “May all z*onist burn in hell. Ameen [Amen].”

Hatred of Israel

On June 6, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “I hope that officers whole family burns to dust.” Her tweet was responding to a video of Ahmad Manasra being interrogated by Israeli police.

Ahmed Manasra (sometimes spelled Mansara) and his 15-year-old cousin Hassan went on a stabbing spree in Jerusalem on October 12, 2015, during the Knife Intifada. The pair critically wounded a 13-year-old Israeli boy and moderately wounded a 25-year-old man. Manasra later admitted to investigators: “I went there to stab Jews,” and was convicted on two counts of attempted murder.

On May 21, 2021, on the final day of OGW, Lasker tweeted: “Until Palestine is free, the fight is not over.”

On the same day, Laskar tweeted: “the t*r*or*sts, aka IDF [Israel Defense Forces] say they'll stop the bombing. But I don't believe those pigs will stop killing. May Allah [God] grant the Palestinians peace and power. InshaAllah [Please God] i*r*els time is over.”

Laskar retweeted a May 16, 2021 tweet that read: “May every israeli flag burn.”

Laskar retweeted a May 7, 2021 tweet that read: “this is not an israeli/palestinian ‘conflict’ b**ch this is a palestinian genocide.”

Laskar retweeted a September 29, 2020 tweet, that accused Israel of “war crimes and genocide.”

On May 17, 2020, Laskar tweeted: “I just wanna say, f**k Israel.”

On November 25, 2019, Laskar tweeted: “I got mad love for my Pakistani brothers and sisters but for the ones who deny that a genocide happened in Bangladesh and that we're making it up, you're just as bad as Israelis that support genocide in Palestine.”

On June 2, 2019, Laskar tweeted: “there was an Israel parade today in Manhattan. If we're gonna have parades for make believe places than we might as well have one for Kings Landing as well.”

Demonizing Zionism

Laskar retweeted a July 29, 2021 tweet by anti-Israel agitator Mohammed El-Kurd that read: “Zionism is a death cult. This statement should not spark outrage. What should is the fact of a Zionist killing a Palestinian every three days. Enough.”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

Laskar retweeted a May 17, 2021 tweet that read: “‘The Palestinians are Semites. Zionism is against Palestinians. It is Zionism that is anti-Semitic.’ - Kwame Ture.”
Antisemitism refers to hostility, prejudice or discrimination directed against Jews (and not all Semitic people). The term was first used in print in Germany in 1879, as a word to denote Jew-hatred and this has been its common usage since then.
Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture) was a black militant leader known for coining the phrase: “The only good Zionist is a dead Zionist.” Carmichael spread [p. 27] various anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish control of government and media on university campuses and elsewhere.

Anti-Israel Activism

On May 15, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “Protest today! if you guys are interested, its at Bay Ridge, Brooklyn at 4:30pm!” Her tweet promoted a protest organized by the NY4PALESTINE Coalition, titled: “NAKBA 73 DEFEND PALESTINE!” A hashtag on the event flier read #DEFENDSHEIKHJARRAH.”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.

In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

The NY4Palestine coalition is comprised of several New York based anti-Israel organizations, including American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), Al-Awda NY and Within Our Lifetime (WOL), which was formerly the city-wide chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) in New York City (NYC SJP).

On May 15, 2021, Laskar tweeted: “NYC protest #FreePalestine #FreeSheikhJarrah #EndTheOccupation #NYCforPalestine.” Her tweet featured photos at the protest, including one of a woman holding a sign that read: “I’M OLDER THAN YOUR ‘STATE.’”

On the same day, Laskar tweeted: “I was marching for literal hours while I didn't feel well but I obviously continued anyways. I'm doing as much as I can to spread the word...”
