Rand Alfoqaha has expressed support for a terrorist, whitewashed violent protesters and spread anti-Israel conspiracy theories and hatred of Israel on Facebook.

Alfoqaha is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Alfoqaha supported the UMN Divest campaign, launched by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Minnesota (UMN) in 2016.

As of July 2020, Alfoqaha was enrolled at the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at UMN.

As of August 2020, Alfoqaha used the alias “Rando Slime” on Facebook.

Support for Terrorist

On October 23, 2011, Alfoqaha wrote on Facebook: “I feel so happy to say that today my cousin Muid Abd al-Rahim Asad Abd al-Samed has returned to his hometown Tulkarm-Anabta. He was in Israeli prison for 24 years, and was planning on doing 4 life sentnces [sic]! Congratulations to him and the 476 other prisoners let out this week❤️. ”

Alfoqaha’s post featured a photo of her cousin, Muid Abd al-Rahim Asad Abd al-Samed (Muayad Abdel Samed), who was arrested on June 14, 1987 and sentenced to 4 life terms for killing an Israeli border police officer. He is reportedly a member of The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), and was released as part of a 2011 prisoner exchange with Israel.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) has been designated a terrorist organization by the U.S., the EU, the Gulf Cooperation Council, Israel and several other countries. The PFLP pioneered aircraft hijackings, most notably the 1976 capture of an Air France plane they rerouted to Entebbe, Uganda. The PFLP also claimed “credit” for the November 2014 Har Nof Synagogue massacre, in which PFLP operatives murdered six people with a gun, axes and a butcher knife during morning prayers.

Whitewashing Violent Protesters

On May 16, 2018, Alfoqaha wrote in a Facebook post: “What’s going on in Palestine is so wrong and sad. It’s even more sad seeing these comments and seeing how a lot of people feel and that Palestinians who are peacefully protesting with some damn rocks are getting killed.”

In May 2018, terror organization Hamas instigated the “March of Return.” Thousands of violent rioters attempted numerous breaches of Israel’s border fence with Gaza, seeking to harm Jews across the border. Media reports confirmed [00:00:20] protesters’ breaches and attempted breaches of the fence, some by armed Palestinians. On May 15, 2018, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahhar said the Gaza protests were only a pretext of “peaceful resistance.”

On May 16, 2018, a Hamas senior official, Salah al-Bardawil, stated that 50 out of 62 protesters killed during the May 14 Gaza border protest were Hamas operatives. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also claimed that three of its members were killed at the same protest.

The violent riots continued until the end of 2018, accompanied by military-style attacks carried out by Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and other terror organizations. The attacks included gunfire, armed rioters penetrating Israeli territory, throwing IEDs and hand grenades and launching incendiary kites into Israel.

Also on May 16, 2018, Alfoqaha wrote on Facebook: “I’m so disgusted and disturbed and if you are pro Israel or support what’s going on like I have no time for you so please gtfo and delete yourself. If you support Israel you support ethnic cleansing and I don’t f withchuuu as a Palestinian and as a basic human being with morals.”

Anti-Israel Conspiracy Theories

On October 12, 2019, Alfoqaha shared a post on Facebook by 9/11 Truth activist, Jeff Bellamar, that read: “I'm neither Israeli or Palestinian. I am just a military veteran fed up with $10.5 million dollars of taxpayer money each day going to Israel to fund an apartheid regime. Further, I am disturbed by the fact that nearly every death of a US servicemember during the last 30 years is usually tied to an Israeli agenda (Google: The Greater Israel Project).”

On March 25, 2019, Alfoqaha shared an article on Facebook, titled: “Israel pharmaceutical firms test medicines on Palestinian prisoners.”

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On March 15, 2019, Alfoqaha shared a link on Facebook to an article, titled: “49 killed in mass shooting at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.” Alfoqaha commented: “Don’t let this distract you from Israeli terrorist attacks on Palestinians on this fine day 🙂.”

On July 1, 2018, Alfoqaha shared a screenshot on Facebook of a social media post that read: “10 worst countries in this world. 10. There aren’t 9. Any countries 8. That 7. Deserve to be6. Labeled as ‘worst’ 5. Because 4. They all 3. Have their own 2.
Wonderful features 1.Israel.”

On November 13, 2016, Alfoqaha shared a link on Facebook to a video titled: “Israel & Palestine: A Very Short Introduction.” Alfoqaha commented: “Sums it up.”

The video was produced by the anti-Israel group Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP). It accused Israel of “institutionalized discrimination” against non-Jews and represented Israeli security policies as unjust. The video portrayed Israel as an oppressive force and described peace talks as “theater to cover a land grab.”

Supporting BDS on Campus

On February 15, 2016, Alfoqaha changed her Facebook cover photo to a graphic with a caption that read: “UMN DIVEST 2016.”

Alfoqaha posted: UMN Divest is a grassroots, student-led campaign calling on University of Minnesota to divest from corporations that are profiting off of human rights violations in Palestine. Join us by signing this petition: http://goo.gl/forms/b1IiVjl0KS”

As of July 2020, Alfoqaha had set the UMN Divest logo was as her Pinterest profile photo.

On February 15, 2016, SJP UMN launched UMN Divest, a campaign suggesting [00:01:53] Israel was like Apartheid South Africa and demanding [00:01:10] that the Minnesota Student Association (MSA) and UMN divest from all companies “complicit in the Israeli occupation of Palestine.”.

On February 16th, SJP UMN issued a press release claiming UMN’s divestment from four companies explicitly targeted by the campaign “would neutralize the University of Minnesota in this conflict [sic] …” and that “The call to divest is a response to the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.”

UMN’s Chief Investment Officer reportedly told The Minnesota Republic, a student-run newspaper at UMN, that the university had “no direct exposure” to the four companies highlighted by the UMN Divest campaign.

On March 8, 2016, the MSA voted [00:26:24] to strike the divestment resolution from the MSA agenda.

In April 2016, the MSA passed a heavily amended resolution that removed all references to Israel and any specific corporations. The amended resolution endorsed divestment generally from “corporations involved in human rights violations,” and from “companies profiting from human rights abuses and violations of international law.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
