Rachel Himes
Rachel Himes is a children’s writer who was arrested at an anti-Israel disruption in January 2024 where protesters blocked traffic in New York, New York.
The incident occurred following a series of Hamas terror atrocities and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023.
The Hamas terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”
Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Himes was affiliated with the Columbia University (Columbia) chapter of the anti-Israel campus group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) in November 2023. She was also affiliated with JVP and a member of the New York City chapter of DSA in October 2023.
As of January 2024, Himes was listed online as a writer for The Nation magazine.
Also as of January 2024, Himes was listed online as “a museum educator, children’s books author, and illustrator,” with two children’s books published to date.
As of the same date, Himes was listed on the Columbia website as a PhD student in the Department of Art History and Archeology.
As of January 2024, Himes, who also goes by Rachel Faith Hunter Himes, was listed on the Columbia online directory as a teaching fellow in the Department of Art History and Archeology. Columbia is located in New York, New York.
As of the same date, Himes’s LinkedIn said she graduated from Brown University (Brown) with a bachelor’s degree in religious studies and from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a bachelor’s degree in illustration in 2015.
Brown and RISD are both located in Providence, Rhode Island.
